  1. haha, easy for me. #2. All I can figure is Caldwell must like and see something we didn't see on the field last season...or maybe he (Caldwell) realizes he slightly messed up Painter by trying to make him run Peyton's offense the way Peyton ran it (which no one can do)...either way it still surprises me Painter got picked up...but then again, the real kicker is if he makes the final squad...

As much as I love our guys (Clark, Brackett, Addai) it doesn't surprise me they are still out there for a couple reasons: 1) they're all older, injury prone players, and 2) it's still relatively early on yet, so there's a possibility they get picked up later (with Addai having the best chance IMO).

I totally agree with you. I could not say it better myself! I can't believe Painter got signed, I was just like why? haha.

  2. I would be shocked I think. I would feel let down by whoever was involved. I expect better from my team then that. I would still be a fan and root for my team, just with a sad heart I guess. I would hope that they would just admit to there wrongs and accept the punishment. Take the repercussions and accept the fault without a big fight and all the bull. I would not want to hear a bunch of excuses or anyone trying to make it seem like it was o.k. for any reason. I really hate when people make excuses for things that are clearly wrong and then try to justify them.

  3. I'm happy to be reading a thread that is actually about football. I have been busy lately and not on much. When I do log on it seems like a lot of posts are pretty much things that have already been discussed.

I agree that Pagano will do whatever plays to our talents. I think we have been very predictable for a long time. I would like to see people actually have to dissect our defense for once. Blitzing? Someone said we used to blitz? I would love to see that again! I really don't care what we do, 3-4/ 4/3 anything in between as long as it works for us and against the opponent. I think Pags will be good for determining that. Overall I'm just happy we will be doing something different for once.

I started a thread a couple of months ago where people could explain basic football concepts so more would get involved. I would be happy to dredge it up if people are interested.

I think that is a great idea. Don't know if you have posted this or not, but would love to know if/when you do. I could see how more people may get involved if they understood more. I am always looking to learn something new and appreciate the knowledge on here.

  4. 1. Both. If neither one proves anything then I think we will get rid of them. Next year we will have a lot more money to spend on people. I don't think we will be spending it on people we question.

    2. Mathis

    3. Too early to tell for me.

    4. I am hoping top 15 but not sure we will be that good so will say top 20.

5.Ha ha....anything has to be a step up from last year.

  5. I agree Dungy truly does believe what he said and it may be true but putting that out their without facts to support his claims is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy risky especially since Fishers name hasnt been brought up in any investigation. I somehow think Fisher knows something but I want proof before I label him guilty

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am not saying he 100% without a doubt knew something. It is just hard to believe he didn't know anything.

  6. Long story short could Fisher have known back then, yes of course but do we have proof that he does know? no, besides Dungy saying HE THOUGHT Williams was doing that back when he was with Fisher, if Dungy thought that, then Dungy needs concrete proof (not to further convict Williams because hes doomed anyway) but because that involves another coach and a respected one at that (except if your Haynesworth and all he seems to respect is twinkies). their needs to be further investigation

I can't help but think common sense tells me he knew things. I don't know how much, when, or what. I think I would be more shocked to learn he really knew nothing. I honestly do not think Dungy would say something like that unless he truly believed it. This is all just my opinion though.

  7. Do I think Jeff Fisher knows what kind of man Greg Williams is? In my mind without a doubt.

Do I think Jeff Fisher knows what kind of coach Greg Williams is? In my mind wIthout a doubt.

Therefore, of my own accord and for myself, I can draw a likely conclusion that Jeff Fisher was aware that Williams was running a bounty scheme in NO.

All this is based on (in my mind and my mind only) the fact that the two are close friends. So, my common sense says if these two are as close as they say they are, then the topic of what Williams was doing in NO had to come up at some point...I am just thinking about what I talk about with my close friends, which is usually my job, family, and interests. Now, granted I do not have any evidence, so I cannot say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Fisher knew (but I think we all know somewhere in our minds that he knew).

Now, I am NOT saying that punishment should come upon Fisher just due to circumstances and common sense. No, quite the contrary. We live in a nation where your guilt has to be proven. So, if Goodell decides that such an investigation is of merit and should be conducted then we will wait on evidence to surface. If not, then all we can do is speculate and draw our own conclusions (cause lets face it we all do it).

KD, you bring up something that pains me to even consider (but common sense leads me to the same conclusion as you have stated)...Drew Brees having knowledge of the bounty scheme that was running rampant in the Saints locker room....good grief does it pain me to say that it is highly unlikely Drew didn't know...

That said, I want to throw a thought out there: Yes, he probably knew, but what was he supposed to do about it?

Remember, QBs are commonly the leader of the team, and if he would have "snitched" (which would have been how it was viewed) then how effective would his leadership be...anywhere? Players would feel like they couldn't trust him...and his leadership ability would be damaged in the locker room...so I can live with him knowing but not participating...what I could not live with is him being asked point blank by investigators if he knew and him lying saying he didn't.

I still think Brees is a great guy. I was just pointing out I think he had to have known something. I'm sure there really wasn't much he could do about it. I totally agree with you on this whole subject. If he did lie to investigators that would bother me. I really do respect Drew. I hope nothing happens to change my mind.

  8. I am happy to hear he is doing so well! I never lost faith in him. He will always be the best IMO. I hope all of Denver, the players, coaches, and fans are grateful he chose to be there. It is kind of bittersweet in a way. I wish him the best tough in everything he does. I hope he gets at least one more ring there. He deserves it!

  9. As far as football goes, I love defense! I love seeing good hits and smash mouth in your face defense! I do not agree with this bounty crap though. There is a right way to tackle and play good ball.

Going in with the intent to injure someone is just flat out wrong! You can go in and say I'm gonna hit this guy, he is gonna hurt today, etc. That is not the same thing as this bounty was. Going in thinking I'm going after his head, I'm gonna knock him out. Let's attack his ACL, lets knock him out of a few games maybe a season or forever, that is disgusting IMO. How can you feel o.k. doing that? There is a difference is all I am saying.

I want a good defense. I don't want to see a soft defense. There is a right way to be tough and physical without doing what was done here. I want a legitimate defense. I want players and coaches who have integrity and class. I am glad to be a fan of a team that has just that. I am proud of my team. I feel kinda bad for what Saints fans must be going through.

  10. I don't think there is anyway Fisher could not know Williams was like this. If he was coaching with him for so long then there is no way. I guess people can choose to be blind to things or deny them. I think you just have to use common sense here. It saddens me as I used to have respect for Jeff Fisher. I have to believe that Williams did not just start this with the Saints though. I don't care what anyone says. I don't think he was in the NFL this long and just decided to start this then.

As far as Payton and the rest of the Saints. I think they probably did all know. I don't see anyway that they did not. I'm sure Drew wants to cover himself by saying he didn't but come on! How does anyone really believe he didn't? That many players and the coaches, now way he had not heard things or seen things. I don't care if its a defensive thing and Drew is offense. I think it's a bunch of crap people will believe Drew is all innocent in this. He may not have participated in the actual bounty or knew every detail, but I think he definitely knew about it.

  11. Two things:

    1. The tape was released the DAY the Saints met were to meet on the appeal!!

    2. It is over! The suspensions are upheld!

The suspensions are upheld!!! I am very happy about that. Music to my ears. I would be ticked if they had not!

  12. The thug mentality did not help him when he was with the horrendous Buffalo Bills. The intent to mame....needs to needs to go away. Good hard clean hits! No mention of ACL, concussion ridden players...specifics are the darning 'finality' for Williams.

Yes, the specifics just does him in. How can anyone hear that and not be disturbed? I truly felt sick listening to that. I also wonder why there were no players or other coaches who stepped up and said, This is not right. This has to stop. Why did no one have a conscious about this? I know Payton and other staff had knowledge. That whole defense he has going on is completely ludicrous! No one is buying that crap he is trying to sell.

  13. I watched the video. All I can say is my eyes hurt now. :( That was terrible to watch. I don't know how they would even begin to figure out how to compensate everyone hurt by this bounty system. I am sure Williams did have this throughout his career. I'm sure he didn't just get to the Saints and come up with it there. I don't know how they would get proof of anything though. There are things people get away with on a daily basis because of lack of proof. I have all the proof I need to know that Williams is (to me) a scum of the earth type of person for what he has done. Putting players careers and future in danger to get a few wins. Trying to make himself look good. He had no regard for the players he was hurting. I will be disgusted if they ever let him coach again. This man should never be aloud back into the NFL or any other coaching job.

  14. This is just disgusting! After hearing all that I don't know what team would want to hire him. I don't care if he won games or not. Having morals and integrity are more important then that. I hope he never coaches again. I will never condone him coming back into the NFL or any other sport.

  15. I guess I missed most of this which I can say I am happy for that. I think it is just one of those golden rules, You treat others as you wish to be treated, You get what you give kinda thing, I do not understand why some people choose to stir the pot and cause a ruckus. I honestly think some people live off causing drama. I know people are not perfect and we all have our less then stellar moments, That being said, if your always on here posting negative comments then people will never take it as joking, If I make a comment that I think may upest people I try to edit. I either take it out completely or edit it to add an lol or just kidding. I think the majority of posters on here all get along pretty good for such a large group. There will be people who disagree no matter what, just ignore them, Life is too short to be upset by something like that.

  16. I absolutely love this!!!Building the beast! Heck yea!!!! I don't expect it to be great right away but love the mentality and I don't mind a little trash talk. Football needs some trash talk in my opinion. I don't think he is causing any drama or issues with it. He didn't mention any names or people in particular. Nothing wrong with it at all IMO. I think its good to have some confidence and show some excitement. It doesn't embarrass me one bit , it pumps me up! I think its about darn time this D shows some life in it, I love Pagano. I can't help it, I just do!

  17. I expect to see a copycat of the ravens in a way expect an improvement in the Run Defense not 'Hey run on us all day Tampa 2 D'. I just don't know how good powers is in man, and I think if we get Kirkpatrick or whoever will need to be a good man cover corner.

I expect to see a top 15 D possibly next year, just don't expect Shutdown D next year is all.

I agree. I think Pagano will go nuts if he see's us getting run on like that anymore. He will definitely be working on that. I know it won't be ravens good but in time after a few years we should be very good I think.

  18. Eventually the draft will be here and we will I think get Luck and Redskins RG3. Then we can watch and see who does the best. I think Luck will be absolutely fine. I for one get sick of hearing criticism on him. He will be a rookie so I don't know why, but it seems people expect him to be perfect. Of course he still has lots to learn and things to get accustomed to. His arm strength questioned bothers me too. He has plenty of arm strength and the brains to back it up. He can run if he needs to but is accurate with passing and has the brains needed to run the offense. He will continue to get better. I have no doubt in my mind he is determined to succeed at the NFL level. All his accomplishments thus far with his career and with his classes give me faith that he will be successful at a professional level. He just to me seems like the type of guy who does not settle for less then his own best. He admits when he makes mistakes and says he needs to be better at things. I don't know what else you could ask for out of your rookie.
