My Mt Rushmore for sports figures in Indiana are:

    1. Peyton Manning - Played from 1998-2010 seasons. Won a SB, went to 2 SB's, won 4 League MVP's while here in Indianapolis.

    2. Reggie Miller - Was a Pacer from the 1988-2005 seasons. He got us to the Finals in 2000 where we played the Lakers in 6 tough games. We also went to 6 Eastern Conference Finals with him leading the way = 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000Finals, 2004. He is also in the NBA Hall of Fame.

    3. Bobby Knight - Was Head Coach of the IU Hoosiers from 1972-2000 seasons. He won 3 National Championships = 1976, 1981, and 1987. The 1976 team went undefeated at 32-0. He also went to another Final 4 in 1992.

    4. Larry Bird - Had a bigger impact on the Boston Celtics as an NBA player but here in Indiana, he led Indiana St to the Final game of the NCAA Tournament in 1979 and he was born here in Indiana. He was also a great Head Coach for the Pacers from 1998-2000. Getting the Pacers to the Finals in 2000.

Lets say Caitlan Clark wins 3 or 4 WNBA Championships here in Indianapolis, she will be knocking on this door! The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)

I think there are too many important figures in Indiana sports history to put on just one, although I think we can all agree that Peyton is #1.

I will say this though: How cool is it that the best men’s college basketball player for the past two years and the best women’s college basketball player the past two years are both connected to Indiana? Meanwhile ISU made the NIT championship game, and Purdue made the national championship game, AND the Pacers are back in the playoffs. Indiana basketball is alive and well!

  2. Buckner is probably my favorite Colt right now, so I’m ecstatic about this. I know we didn’t do a lot of external work in free agency, but keeping pretty much everyone and also giving extensions to our own guys is huge.

    -Resigned Pitt

    -Resigned Grover

    -Resigned Kenny

    -Resigned Tyquan Lewis

    -Resigned Sanchez

    -Resigned Ronnie Harrison Jr.

    -Resigned Pinter

    -Resigned Blackmon

    -Extended Zaire

    -Extended Buckner

    -Extended JT

Those are all impact players that we have locked down for multiple years. All of that in one season is really damn impressive to me.

Also happened in the large govt agency I work for.  Really shook my faith in my organization to see so many replying to all to tell people not to reply to all.  At least it was easy to have Outlook sort by the subject line and mass delete them.  It’s fun to tell the story to millennials who weren’t around yet…

With all due respect, that kind of situation sounds like the level of competency that I imagine all government agencies work at.

No one knows at this point if any of the rookie QBs from last year will be any good long-term. You can only look at their play. Let's look at AR who we were told was very inexperienced.

1st Game Jacksonville who dominated us the year before. He almost led us to a win and had us in the game until the very end. FYI he did not get "hurt" in the Jacksonville game. He was hit late and had to come out for ONE play. He would have gone back in but at that point, the game was over.

2nd Game Rams (playoff team, experienced defense) He led us back from a 20-point deficit. It was pretty exciting. We lost because Shane made some questionable decisions in Overtime.

3rd Game Houston. Everyone is afraid of Houston on this forum. AR dominated them. He was injured in the game not because he was injury-prone but because he made a Rookie mistake and let up on an easy TD got lit up (another cheap shot) and got a concussion which any player would have received.

4th Game Titans. Was once again dominating the game. He suffered a season-ending injury when he was tackled. The major concern that I see is that when AR gets tackled he does not know how to fall in such a way as to protect himself. Hopefully, the Colts will work on that.

So bottom line in 4 games AR was fun to watch and a really good player. Only time will tell the final result.

I blame the Rams loss on Bradley’s defense. He played them super soft and Stafford carved us up for an easy OT touchdown. Richardson was amazing in that game.

  5. Everyone has their own opinion on what AR can/will become, but I will never understand people who actively root against Colts players becoming successful just so they can be right. I didn’t like Levis at all as a player and I’m glad the Colts didn’t draft him, but if they did, I would’ve supported him 100% and gladly eaten crow if I ended up being wrong.

Improving is the key for Levis and AR.  That’s what it’s all about.

I could very well be biased, but I saw a lot more out of AR last year than I did Levis. Levis wasn’t as bad as Bryce Young, but he looked like a future career backup QB to me. But hey, things can change fast in this league. I guess we’ll see.

no actully i dnt yu can tell by my lack of posts compared to most here … i read alot have opinions some i choose to voice some i dnt bc genuinely this is a space to connect to colts fans outside my radius. i’m also smart enough to knw im more than likely smarter than yu en multiple facets so i’ll give yu the win en that i responded but just like the rest of my post yu serve as entertainment but ultimately none of yu and none of this will equate to anything so yu have a good day as well cutie

Well you are right in that none of what happens here does matter, that’s for sure. Thank goodness it doesn’t, or the Colts would be run by a bunch of people talking on a forum.

Bengals will need to hope that Moss has the ability to get crucial yards in a must win scenario like Mixon did to put away the Bills last year.

Well since you and I are fans of both teams, my thought is that Moss can do it, but can the Bengals’ OL? I think that’s the real reason that Mixon peaked and leveled out the last couple of years.

There are few Elite players at FA time.

We have Taylor, Q, Kelly, Pittman, Smith paid near the top at their position and Grover also gobbling a chunk.

At this time we will do well to finish .500 next season.

And we are not anywhere near 1 more Elite FA signing away from being a AFC Championhship contender. Our secondary is near the bottom, our LB's can't cover, and we don't pressure the QB enough.

We have 2 reliable receivers and not much at TE.

So until will are down to 1-2 needs to fill that makes us a SB contender, Big payouts will Never make sense.

That said, I would gladly have paid Christian Wilkins that money because he could have positively changed our dynamics at all levels defensively. lol

In all fairness, we set a franchise record for sacks last year. I think this is the best Colts defensive line since the days of Freeney and Mathis. The problem is that we hardly ever blitz, and that’s on the scheme and the coach, not Ballard or the players.

That, and the opportunity to start?

I would have to think Moss was told by the Bengals that Mixon was being let go and the starting job was his to lose. Cincy has a promising young back in Chase Brown, entering his second year out of Illinois, but for now, Moss will be the clear starter in the Jungle.

Getting to play for a top-3 QB in the league and being on an immediate Super Bowl contender also likely pushed him towards Cincy over other offers.

  11. Very very happy that we kept Pitt, Grove, and Lewis and extended Zaire. I would really love to have Kenny and Blackmon back too, but even more importantly, we need to resign Rigo. Punters of his quality are not easy to come by.

I’m ok with Minshew and Moss leaving. Both were great Colts and great teammates, but they deserve better opportunities than they’ll get here.

Not sure if lack of all pro is necessarily a knock on Ballard. Bengals and Texans didn’t either.  Miami had one on the first team and Buffalo only got someone in as the slot CB on the second team. Do their GMs suck?

Im not saying the team doesn’t need more talent, every team in the NFL needs more talent. We do have spots where we could really use elite talent but AP is a little recency biased and usually is dominated by the best teams that year. Just like the media has been campaigning for Lamar to win MVP for over a month now.

That’s also bull crap too, Bengals should have had Hendrickson first-team. He was tied for second-most sacks this season (17.5) behind only TJ Watt, and he had 3 more than Garrett.

Who would you have given the all pro nod to? Remember if you are crowing one of our players, you have to replace him with a player on the list.

Buckner over Chris Jones, easily in my opinion

You need at least 2 solid receiving threats on an NFL offense to get very far. Pittman definitely proved he can be one of those two options on any team. Elite, no, but very good, productive, and consistent for sure. Another WR should be drafted early either this year or next, but unless you're very convinced that Pierce can replace his production then it'd be silly to not retain Pittman with at least the franchise tag going into next year.

Personally I think Pitt has reached his ceiling. It’s a top-15 WR ceiling, which is still fantastic, but he’s never going to be Chase or Jefferson or Hill. Pierce and especially Downs still have room to grow. If I’m Ballard, I franchise tag Pitt and swing for an elite WR in the draft.

A little story from James Boyd’s podcast. He said after the game Pittman was not in the locker room. He said everyone was in there hugging ect. He mentioned how Pittman is such an emotional guy he probably removed  himself because he didn’t want to say something he shouldn’t.  He probably wanted the ball.

I will just say this. Players have to be careful thinking grass is always greener somewhere else. Look what happened with Campbell. He ended up being inactive for a few games this year.

Campbell left to go be a star in NYC and has basically been MIA all year. Sad stuff

  16. I’m glad he’s not entirely opposed to the franchise tag. With that being said, I think he’s trying to see if the Colts will match him, and if I’m Ballard I’m playing this very carefully. I love Pitt and I would pay him a lot to stay, but if he demands Justin Jefferson/Ja’Marr Chase money, you can’t pay him that.

  17. In this league, you have to pressure QBs to win, and we don’t pressure enough. We get sacks, yes, because our DL is pretty talented, but we simply don’t blitz enough to protect our back end. I think this is a bad idea.

  18. Just now, coming on strong said:

we can be next year  richardson looks electric get him weapons we will be okay

Maybe, but the Texans and Jags also have their QB now. It’s going to be a three-dog fight for the foreseeable future, and the Texans are ahead of schedule on their rebuild too. Now I think AR will end up being the best of the four AFCS QBs, but it may take a year or two.
