I’ve openly hitched my wagon to Jordan Love as it seems like that’s Ballard’s guy. However, I also think that Hebert is the other option. A lot of mock drafts have had the Colts taking Herbert as well. I think one of the two are almost guaranteed to be a Colt next year. The question is do you trade up Herbert? Do you take Love at 15? We’re still waiting on the final draft order but I know for certain that the Colts are going to want to get in front of the Chargers.

My wagon is hitched to JL as well... my biggest fear is we win our last two games and he has a great Senior Bowl and combine

If pascal had such a geeat year with Jacoby imagine if he had a very good QB throwing to him.

Exactly. I like Pascal, but JB didn’t exactly help his progression.

K.....i will sum it up this way.  We are 6-7.  That is below 50%. Therefore, that would make us below average in  some and hopefully not in all these areas:talent, coaching, scouting.  U r what your record says and the Colts r a below average football team.

Analyzing a young freshly churned roster with position coaches new to DC, OC and head coach, as well as a first time gm with just wins and losses? Cmon Moose, you have to sprinkle in progression and development into that assessment too man.

Give yourself the best chance to win every game.

IMO, that mind set is more important then any byproduct that may come about by doing something else.

This post is what the mindset of every team every week should be regardless of circumstances. The first time you veer off that path....I think you loose credibility with players and fans. Winning is the bottom line and that’s all dedicated players and coaches want to do.

- You started the thread. That pretty much speaks for itself.

You never said a thing about more to come or if you agreed with them at all.

Then when I question it you accuse me of trolling.  Dude, are you serious?

Well it was a good thread while it lasted

  6. I’ve heard people tout the 2020 draft much better offensively than the 2019. I’ve also heard Chris say he likes the defensive depth and OL depth in this draft. If Inman comes back I wouldn’t be shocked if Chris went all in on those two fronts. CB’s board no doubt looks a hell of a lot different from mine.... thank God.

We'll see what the market is after other teams blow huge sums on the first wave and the dust settles.

This. Sometimes, you can even find a relative bargain.

Agreed.  The salary cap system prevents teams from having all stars at every position. Sometimes you just need a few 'good' players in some spots.

I'd like to think we are drafting/coaching/grooming our All Stars in house, and filling in some gaps with some good veteran players.

Exactly. Grow your own all stars through the draft and raise your overall median talent through FA. That’s the key for long term success and Chris knows it. Colts fans don’t have to look very far to see what doesn’t work ...( last regime)

Hard to believe that Free Agency starts in less than a week. I have a few thoughts as we head into that process.

    1. On our need for WR2- I'm genuinely excited about a number of day 2 WR's in this year's class, especially Hakeem Butler, N'Keal Harry, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. I would be much happier grabbing one of them in the 2nd, rather than fill that need with any FA player. The exception to that may be Tyrell Williams, but his price tag may be too steep. If push comes to shove, I'd prefer to fill other needs in FA, and address WR2 in the draft.

    2. On our need for pass rush- On the opposite side, I think we need to, at least partially, address pass rush in FA. Looking at the way the board falls, it's very easy to imagine most, if not all of the high end pass rushers are gone by 26. There will definitely be some talent in the later rounds, but we all want (and know that Ballard wants) an impact pass rusher who can contribute THIS YEAR. To ensure we get that, we may need to bring in FA at a higher price tag. Good thing we have astronomical cap space.

    3. Safety- As I stated in another post, this is a must fill in free agency position. The league has devalued that position recently, so there are TONS of starters available, who should come at reasonable prices. If we can't land Landon Collins, as we all are hoping for, there are definitely a lot of other good options available.

On Antonio Brown- I don't think he's handled this situation as well as he could have, but I also think the notion of him being a "locker room cancer" are overblown. No one ever said a bad thing about Antonio before this year. All of his teammates outside of Big Ben love him. They all say he's the hardest worker they've ever played with. As it relates to the COLTS, I think it could be a good thing if Ballard made a move to acquire him. Doubt that it happens, but if Ballard pulls the trigger, I trust him, I'm not going to worry about the locker room. I think Brown will be fine.

I think when AB said in an interview recently that he doesn’t need football .... that pretty much doomed him with CB if he wasn’t on thin ice already
