  1. I know it was a joke but someone once said

that if Ballard likes a QB from Southern state university, he will pick him and won’t care what people say. So I figured it would be fun to show some small school QBs.

    Case Cookus -Northern Arizona

    Jacob Knipp- Northern Colorado

    Zerrick Cooper-Jacksonville State

    Jake Maier- UC Davis

    Sign:

    Hunter Henry

    Javon Hargrave

Karl Joseph (since we aren't bringing back Geathers sign him to back/play alongside willis)

I think Hunter Henry is gonna be to pricey. What does everyone think about Tyler Efiert. Somewhat young and has definitely not reached his potential. Needs to stay healthy and could be had on the cheap.

  3. Okay, so I have not been a big supporter of Jordan Love at 13 but I seem to be in the minority. I say that because it is obvious how much the Colts are at the very minimum intrigued by him. Between the reports of Colts scouts being at 7 games and I heard one that said Ballard was at at least one but maybe two games, himself.

We have said all this before, so the reason I posted this is because almost 1 in every 3 mock drafts I have seen have Love to the Colts. It happens almost as regularly as:

    Burrow to Bengals

    Young to Redskins

    Tua to Dolphins

    Herbert to Chargers

Then you see articles of best fits for teams looking for a QB and everyone picks Love to Colts.

I threw in the last 2 mocks because Daniel Jeremiah is pretty accurate and the draft network has consistently picked Love to Colts

In the end are we all overthinking it. Is the pick gonna be Love? Has it always been Love?

  4. I will say that I am a known JB supporter but I have no issue going into next year with JB, Kelly and a mid rounder battling it out for the starting spot. I will also say that if JB wins the starting spot but then struggles, I do see them pulling him next year, unlike last year.

  5. So to bring this backup. It now known that the raiders are looking at other QBs. So they have lost a little leverage. I truly believe that Carr could be had for a 2nd rounder this and a late round pick next year.

So my question to everyone. Is this actually a possibility. I think Derek Carr to the Colts could have a Drew Brees to the Saints kinda effect. Not only would his talent mesh perfectly but his personality as well.

No one really discusses this but Carr is a devoted Christian and has very deep beliefs. Who else in our locker room has that... lol. Frank Reich does. This could be a perfect match.

  6. Don’t hate it. But a few tweaks:

    1. I love trading for Derek Carr and do believe that if we were to do that JB can’t be here. To much of a leader in the locker room. Could case fractures in the locker room to bring in someone and send him to the bench.

    2. If we draft Carr, there is no way we draft a QB high.

    3. At WR I prefer Jalen Reagor, Chase Claypool or Gamdy- Golden. Just personal preference.

There are too many to list of QB's who had the same flaws through college and 5 years in the NFL and never improved.  He's had 5 years to improve and still has the same flaws as he did in college.

Struggles with deep ball accuracy completing just 23.1 percent on attempts of 21-plus yards. Had several overthrows when tasked with deep throws down sideline versus man coverage. Failed to recognize receivers running wide open down the seam. Gets locked in on a pre-snap plan and has issues altering his itinerary quickly.

I get what you are saying, I do. But the list on 1st round QB Bust is pretty long as well.

What is it with Colts related analysts and pundits loving the exact same type of dink and dunk QB we already have(actually fun fact - they have chosen the 2 QBs that are actually even MORE dink and dunk than JB)? The Teddys and Carrs of the world that Indy media is clamoring for are extremely similar playstyle wise to Jacoby. They might be a bit better and more accurate than JB, but they are not fundamentally different QBs... they are not franchise QBs IMO. There is a reason they would be available on the market.

I actually agree with this. In regards to Teddy his best season was 4 years ago and wasn’t much better than JBs season this year. I do really like Carr and would be happy if that was the move.

  9. I am not saying he won’t improve, I just have a hard time throwing out a talented QB with his traits. There are QBs that take some time to develop and reach their potential. Some that come to mind.

Drew Brees- Tossed aside by Chargers at the age of 27. They drafted Phillip Rivers and never won a title. Brees went on to be one of the greatest QBs of all time.

Alex Smith- got replaced by Kaepernick at age 28. Traded to chiefs at age 29 and went on to have the best years of his career. Since ditching Smith Niners have had Kaepernick, Gabbert, Hoyer, Beathard, Mullins and finally Jimmy G.

Kurt Warner- here me out. He signed undrafted at age 27. Blew up then regressed to a backup. Everyone thought he couldn’t improve and all he did was take the Arizona Cardinals to the Superbowl. Since replacing him, they started Bulger, Fitzpatrick, Boller, Bradford, Shaun Hill, Foles, Keenum, Finally Goff

Tony Romo- sat for 3 years and couldn’t beat out Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson. Finally win the spot at age 26. Became one of the greatest cowboy QBs.

These are just some examples that I found of players developing late.

So you would be OK with an 8-8 season?    I'm wanting improvement at the QB position.  Whether it is from the draft, a free agent, a trade or at least open competition in training camp.  I do not want to go 8-8.

I would not. Everyone talks about improving the quarterback position this possession but no one seems to want to admit that it is possible JB could improve. I also think that given competition, he will and we will be a 10 win team next year.

I would absolutely Love Dak, but I don't see him escaping Dallas no matter how hard he might try. Other than that, I would like to start Brissett to start the season, and then draft Love or Eason with our pick at the top of the second to sit and develop. I don't think Carr becomes available, but if he does he's my second option after Dak.

I agree I only included it because there was a report over the weekend that said if he hit the open market, there people in the Colts building that would pay him 30 million per year.

  12. So it seems that after pouring over mock drafts, forums and Twitter, I have discovered that experts kinda fall into a few categories when it comes to who will be the starting QB for the Colts next year. So I am gonna do a poll on who you would prefer of the rumors. This will

also include the rumors QB in the draft.

** These selections are of all the QBs that I have seen reported linked to the a Colts through some reports. That is why you don’t see Joe Burrow, Anthony Gordon or Jalen Hurts. Also no Brees**

I get the logic...... If....If you are sold out on one guy and you feel that he is the true answer, you become aggressive

If  CB and FR are sold on a guy...... make a deal

But........ don’t reach.... just to reach

For every “ Mahomes level” dudes....there are 10 -20 high potential guys that ultimately fizzle

its a high wire act with no net.....  and bodies of failed GMs and head coaches litter the ground....

I love this and feel it is so accurate for most of the fanbase.  I really like JB and feel he could develop into a franchise QB.  But I am okay if Ballard doesn't see it that way and he take a QB at 13.  Because that means he is sold on him and feels that he is the answer.  But, if he doesn't, then he is not sold on one and won't reach.  The last thing anyone wants is to be Ryan Pace with Mitch Trubrisky, lol.

It is easy to say take the risk and draft a QB when that QB becomes Mahomes or Watson.  Not so easy to swallow when it turns into Trubrisky, Manziel, Paxton Lynch and RG3.

Take one if you love him, but don't reach so the fanbase can be happy because you just picked a QB.

No matter how many WRs you add, it's pointless when Brissett won't throw to them or throws it 5 yards over their heads. (I like your choice of receivers, BTW)

Pinkney is not good. I'd rather have about 10 other TEs than him.

Thanks on the Wideouts.  I don't want to derail this with JB talk but I did have a rookie QB listed on the roster.  I am really open to anything.  Would it change your mind if I slotted that spot for Jordan Love, Jacob Eason?  The ones have listed are the ones that I like alot, in the later rounds.

Also, why don't you like Pinkney?  He has 1st round talent and suffered from a horrible QB situation at Vandy this year.

  15. I want to see what you guys think about this.  I would love to see the Offense setup like this:

Bold is Starter and Italic is FA/Drafted Player

QB:  Jacoby Brissett, Chad Kelly, Rookie QB(Anthony Gordon, Jalen Hurts)

**I assume that Jacoby can apply that work ethic that he learned from Luck and Brady and improve to be the QB that we need in this system.  We have Kelly if we need to make a move off of JB and we draft a young mid round qb to develop or flip ( I have us taking Kinlaw at 13)**

RB:  Marlon Mack, Nyhiem Hines, Jordan Wilkins

**Love Mack coming back and healthy.  Really excited to see what Hines can do with more touches.  I think he will be something similar to Darren Sproles at the Eagles/Chargers.  Wilkins is a hard runner and very reliable**

WR:  TY Hilton, Parris Campbell, Jalen Reagor, Daurice Fountain, Chase Claypool, Antonio Gandy Golden

**Get TY back and get him healthy.  He reported at the Superbowl that he was already 100% and ready to go.  You get Parris healthy and he becomes your Debo Samuels like player.  Reagor gets picked to be groomed as the next TY.  Fountain is amazing and a big body and showed flashes last year before getting hurt.  Love the two other rookies on here.  Gandy Golden is big and fast.  Claypool is one of my favorite receivers.  Big bodies WR that can be a great redzone threat**

TE:  Jack Doyle, Mo Allie Cox, Jared Pinkney

** Nothing more to say here.  Doyle is so reliable.  Cox is huge and could be a great mismatch.  Pinkney is my favorite TE coming out.  I live in Nashville and watched him in person and he is legit.

Getting this thread back on track, I think this season was more frustrating than horrible. Games were there to be won and they slipped away. This Colts season and last nights SB showed the importance of having a QB who has things under control at it's most critical moments, vs a QB who looked good when things were going well, but overwhelmed once things got tight.

I get that, but people on here are screaming for Jordan Love because he compares to Mahomes.  NEWS FLASH... There is no next Mahomes.  The man is a once in a generation player, people will lose there jobs overdrafting and overreaching for players that "compare" to him.

Also Jimmy G was headed towards winning the SuperBowl until Shanahan mucked it up, lol.  They had the lead with 6 minutes left and the Chiefs had yet to stop the run.  The Niners did that job for them and put the ball in Jimmy G's hands for no reason.  He would have won them the game had they pounded the rock like had been doing all game, and he was on track to throw for just over 200 yards.  Jimmy G is perfect for what they want to do and they will be back next year competing for the SuperBowl.

What I have started saying and now truly believe, The Colts just need a QB that fits what Ballard and Reich want to do, which in my opinion is to run the ball, be efficient on offense, play good defense and don't turn the ball over.  It doesn't have to be Mahomes or Manning.  If that is in the draft, then go and get him, if that is an "Improved" JB then so be it. If it is Derek Carr, make the move.  Just find who fits the Colts and lets roll.  I will support however that is.

  17. I wanted to take a second and just acknowledge all the amazing players that the Colts have had. I have been a colts fan for 25 years and grew up watching the Manning led Colts. For those of us wanting to get back to that, Ballard is doing well but look at these players:

    Manning- Hall of Fame 2021

    Edge- Hall of Fame

    Marvin Harrison- Hall of Fame

    Reggie Wayne- Hall of Fame

    Bill Polian- Hall of Fame

    Tony Dungy- Hall of Fame

    Adam Vinatieri- Hall of Fame

Dwight Freeny- Borderline Hall of Famer

Robert Mathis- Borderline Hall of Famer

Jeff Saturday- Borderline Hall of Famer
Bob Sanders- TO ME- Borderline Hall of Famer

That is insane. We can give Ballard though, if they stay on track, he has drafted 2:

    Darius Leonard

    Quenton Nelson

I just wanted to point how insanely well run and talented we were and are currently. We aren’t back there yet, but we are getting there and thank god we aren’t we’re Grigson had us.
