  1. Because despite everything his drafts arent that bad. There was one draft htat completely sucked but Luck, Fleener, maybe allen, ty, Moncrief, anderson, parry, Geathers and maybe even D'Joun smith now he is back is as good 2 drafts as any GM will have.

Problem is if he is creating tension or oversteping his bounds by saying who starts, then we have a problem. But that is a Irsay problem, he shouldnt enable him to do that. He should set the limits.

If he cant agree not to do those things then yea fire him, but his drafts havent been as bad as twitter is making it look liike.

Like People will see that tweet that says "trade 1st for Trent, drafted Werner, then took WR in 1st".

Lets bring Seahawks for example John Schnieder traded a 1 for Harvin, drafted PRichardson, then a 1 for Jimmy Graham

  2. Yes, that's technically possible. As a matter of fact, Arians interviewed with several teams before he was offered the Cardinals job, so the Colts knew that they might have to replace Arians. Pagano and Grigson both said that they were preparing for the possibility.

But keep in mind, Chud was under contract with the Panthers as the OC, and was a hot commodity. He started interviewing for head coaching jobs in early January, while the Colts were still in the playoffs. Before he went to the Browns, and while Arians was interviewing for head coaching jobs, Chud interviewed with the Jags, Rams and Bucs. It seems less than likely that the Colts would try to poach the Panthers OC in a lateral move. It seems even less likely when you acknowledge that he was a popular head coaching candidate.

If they had any significant disagreement over who would replace Arians, I feel confident in saying that Chud wasn't in the picture.

I see what you mean now. I didnt know the exact times those hirings happened. I see your point now.

Yea it seemskinda obvious pep vs chud (assumming those times you mentioned are right) was never a thing. Why would Chud go for a lateral move? I mean disregard the whole HC stuff, why would he move to just be another OC?

Now, taking into account he was interviewed for HC makes even less likely such scenario(Pep vs Chud) happened.

  3. La Canfora isn't immune to bad journalism. He's done plenty of it. His 'report' about Pep v Chud was factually inaccurate, and he never bothered to fix it. Even now, a month later, the La Canfora article linked below insists that Pagano wanted Chud instead of Pep, and that's not true.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/25299724/chuck-paganos-days-appear-numbered-as-friction-with-colts-gm-grows

I am kind alost here maybe i missed something ... How is his repport of Pep Chud inaccurate? im geniunely asking not being sarcastic.  who said something regarding that...or what are u talking about?

Everything has always added up to Arians being a Pagano decision. I can't find the link or the article, but I remember Pagano saying that hiring Arians was his first official duty as the head coach. Obviously, Grigson and Irsay were on board and sanctioned the hire, but it's pretty clear that Arians was Pagano's choice.

As for this Pep story, IMO there are not significant reports. There's really one report that's ill-informed (because of the Chud angle, which doesn't make sense), and then everyone took and ran with that one report, piling new 'reports' on top of it. And now this story has come to be accepted as fact, and there's really no evidence to support it. Maybe it's true that Grigson steered the ship on the Pep hire, and maybe it's true that Pagano would like to have Chud be the OC, but it's entirely supposition and conjecture. Even calling it a report is a stretch, IMO, much less 'significant reports.'

dont know man. I have a hard time thinking someone like LaCanfora and others (cant remember who else was) report same thing with no one to confirm the story. its just bad journalism.

It is your name on it

"The working relationship between Pagano and Grigson was already deteriorating to that point -- Pagano has no say over personnel and did not get final say on his staff either, with Grigson hiring offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. Pagano had pushed Rob Chudzinski for the job -- and the offer -- which read like a vote of no, or minimal, confidence from ownership, has only ramped up the friction."

  5. Plenty of reason to be critical of Grigson, but this whole Pep v Chud thing seems flimsy to me. Chud wasn't available when we hired Pep, and I remember the entire staff being happy with the Pep hire. Maybe it was Grigson's idea, but I have a hard time believing that Pagano didn't want him or had a problem with the hire. A year previous, Pagano handpicked his OC, which turned out to be a great hire. A year later, and Grigson is wrestling that authority away from him? I really don't buy it.

Tell me about Grigson missing with free agents and trading a first for a terrible RB and a bunch of other stuff, and I'll shut up. But this Pep v Chud thing doesn't hold up, IMO.

Like i get it but ...how do you know Arians was handpicked by Pagano?

I mean i can assume and believe it was his pick because we all know they are buddies and whatever...but there are also significant reports (which all seem like leaks from paganos side) saying that Pep was picked by Grigs. But isnt that the same as assuming Arians was hand picked by Pagano?

  6. I started watching the game late in the first quarter and through the 3rd quarter when fox switched to the Washington game.

I had a stop watch and was timed two things; how long until Luck double clutched a throw and then when he actually threw it.

On average Luck was at 2,7 seconds to the first double clutch and 3.2 seconds until he either threw it or got sacked.

That is too long.  The 2.7 is too long and then adding an additional half a second to that is a recipe for disaster.  The thing is, it's not a new problem for Luck he did this a lot last year and the year before and he's not improving.

I'm not a fan of Pep but this is not a coaching problem, this is not an oline problem, it's not a receiver problem,  it is just a Luck problem and so far in his career he seems incapable of fixing it or improving upon it.

yes ..he seems like second guessing every single throw/decision he makes. its bad. he cant play like that.

also seems, he cant diagnose pre snap. which leads to force throws/bad decision

  7. You guys are wrong about the oline.  And like I said about Good.. he may be able to fill that role but starting quality RTs and guards can be had in rounds 2-4, so you don't need to spend a 1st round pick on a RT and the guards worthy of a 1st round pick only come along every 6 or 7 years, especially now since so many college teams run a spread offense, the guards coming out of college are usually not good.

Holmes is further along in his development than I would have thought after missing a year his rookie season and then getting screwed around by the staff last season.

And if you guys don't see what Thornton brings to the table by now, then you never will and me typing it won't change your mind.  He's already a good guard and he has everything you want to see to become an all-pro guard.  he's been hampered by injuries in the past and that is something to keep an eye on but if you watch his play you can see he has all the tangible tools to become a really special lineman in the league.

I never dissagreed with your assesment on Thorton. I kinda like him, just hate the penalties/issues with stuns.

I do think holmes is subpar and we need a replacement. I thimk he gives lots of pressures and doesnt provide a lot to run game.

I agree on the wholr Rt G dont neeed to be a 1st. I think that would be a waste. I dont want a 1 cpick used on a G. I want it on either OLB ILB or a game wrecking DT/DE.

    I am fine with a #2 or 3 used on a C/G/RT

  8. OLB without a doubt.  The oline is set with the exception of RT.  I think Good could fill that role or even look at Mewhort there again but day one starting RTs and guards can be found in rounds 2-5 regularly.  But an elite OLB is rare so if there is one you like in the 1st round you take him.

To quote Bill Polian, "You never pass on a pass rusher."

I disagree regarding we are set. I think C is still up on the air. I dont see Holmes being here on the long run.  I do agree on OLB. We need a pass rusher badly.

  9. The O Line is starting to come along with Thorton and Holmes picking it up. They continue to improve with Mewhort and Castonzo holding down the left side. We need Reitz to stay healthy at RT this year.

We need O Line depth. Maybe Good can develop into our RT of the future. Mewhort could still end up out there. The O Line isn't the mess it appeared to be. It is very thin.

Our biggest weakness IMO now is the inability to get pressure on the QB. Maybe Newsome comes around and helps on the edge. We need an interior pass rush as well.

It will be interesting to see if Moore and Irving can shore up ILB.

We need to add more play makers on the backend as well CB and S. Maybe D'Joun and Dewey can develop. Geathers looks like he will be useful.

I think we will take our RB of the future this year as well. I don't see Robinson being the man. I really like Booker at Utah and Freeman from Oregon. I don't think Freeman can come out until next year.

A lot depends on which young guys step up. Even if Newsome can get it going. I think OLB is still the biggest hole followed closely by O Line depth.

IMO beyond the obvious Pass Rush and depth. It's difficult to pin point the biggest hole heading into next year until we see how the young guys come along this year.

Key guys on D Geathers D'Joun Dewey McGill Winn Moore Irving Newsome. We will know more the more action these guys see.

We have Mitchell and Sylvestre on the IR. I liked what I saw of Sylvestre. We sure could use Art Jones.

On offense Good John Robinson Varga and Harrison all could be part of the future. Man the Oine is thin. Good being s player would go a long way to solving that problem.

I think we grab help on the O Line and a RB but the main focus is on D again. We are getting close to being where we need to be.

Holmes is not picking it up. Is just that we dont see the holding penalties on him. He is bad. He gives up pressures ....he is the center in the whole NFL who gives up most pressures / hits / sacks.

As much as we hate on Thorton, i rather have him. He is good at pushing people and pulling, holmes is not particulary good on any of those, and STILL gives up tons of pressures.

  10. Every time I've seen Dorsett catching a pass no one is even close to him. He's beating coverage rather easily, and it's been going on since pre-season. But the staff seems to be playing it safe with him. The staff didn't play him heavily until the 4th quarter but it was too late.

As soon as Hilton went down he should have seen his workload. I'm not sure why they're shy about playing him.

    jesus christ dude week 1

  11. Not a DT in our system. But in a base 4-3 it's possible. Wouldn't be surprised to eventually see the Colts go back to the 4-3 though.

I agree on he might be a better fit as DT on a 4-3, but why Not? I can see him playing a Justin Smith/Kyle Williams kind of role on our 3-4.  I admit i dont know a lot about the 3-4 (even if this is our 3rd year) as far as responsabilities/job for a DE and DT, but I dont know i feel like it would be limiting his style. It's like Ngata, he started as NT and then people realized that dude can create so much more havok on another posiiton so they switched him.

BTW im not saying he is NGata is just an example i just thought about.

  12. Colts absolutely stole this guy. One of my favorites to study pre-draft and reminds me of Kyle Williams: http://t.co/bdpDZUc32u

Colts absolutely stole this guy (Parry). One of my favorites to study pre-draft and reminds me of Kyle Williams

I wondered actually because of his frame/size if Parry would be a better fit as a DT instead of NT on our System. I know we view him as NT but i dont know when i saw him play and given Williams comparision i wonder if we could see him on that role

  13. Oh no.....here come the Pep haters?  Love it...just love it.  NOT!

I get your frustation but i do think this is somethng that the team must overcome....if it were every other game its ok...but its 2 years in a row that we have the same issue, it is becoming who we are. A 2nd half team, which is good and everything but we cant start like that always.
