You can hurt a groin in practice. He didn't necessarily hurt it in the game, and it's baseless to assume he did.
He really does need to stay out of the trainers room, though.

I think these arguments are a waste of time. I would not complain one bit with either of them. It's subjective, and I can't fault someone for saying one or the other.
If the question is Brady or Manning, the answer is "Yes, please."

Since Dungy left, .... Moore has left? Mudd has left? The ship is rudderless. Irsay twetting info before the info hits the wire. This organization is becoming a joke really fast.
I'm not convinced Mudd and Moore were as important as some imply. While it is only their first year with their respective teams, neither one has improved in their particular area. I'll give them a year or two before I pass judgement, but if this season is any indication, it looks like Peyton might have been even more important (as impossible as it might seem) than some imagined.

Loyal is so subjective in this matter. I don't think it's unloyal to draft one of the most talented college QBs to come through in sometime. Peyton is on the back 9 and is currently injured.
Personally, I'm not for it or against it. His injury has a supremely low re-injury risk, if I recall. Half a Peyton is still supremely useful. If Peyton says he wants to retire sooner now, that's a different story. I'm neutral on this matter.

With all the calls for Fisher, the Colts might as well hire Del Rio as the DC. And then... some former employ of the Texans at OC. YEAH! We'd have dirt on all of them!

You play the odds. The chances of Luck being able to lead this team for the next day are much higher then having a injuried 36+ year old QB with a questionable front line due it. Please feel free to list all those 36+ year old non mobile QB's to lead their teams to either the Superbowl or the NFL championship game in the game's history.
Non-mobile is subjective.
Kurt Warner, age 37 - Super Bowl XLIII
Rich Gannon, age 37 - Super Bowl XXXVII
Jim Plunkett, age 36 - Super Bowl XVIII
Johnny Unitas, age 37 - Super Bowl V (led his team there, didn't finish the game. But that's not what was asked)
It's not a big list. Staubach, Tarkenton, and Elway (twice) made it as well, but they were more or less mobile.

I could see him being our defensive Coordinator. We will be on the market for one after this season. Larry "No Adjustment" Coyer is outta here.
If I recall, he's been an offensive guy his entire career. I imagine that'd be the only side he'd work on, but stranger things have happened.

I don't think Muir is going to be taking away any playing time from guys like Moala, Nevis (when he returns), AJ or even Mathews....I don't think they're trying to "fix" anything by bringing in Muir more than they're simply trying to add some depth to give the current guys a breather once in a while and keep them fresh. If Muir gets playing time from anyone it will be Anderson and Brayton because we'll no longer need them to play out of position at DT.
I never thought anything different. I think (with little to no basis) that they simply opted for veteran depth over an unknown, and I disagree with that. With the way the season is going at this point, I think it makes sense to try out a few PS guys. Not to say they should play half a game or something, but rather that I believe they should use this season as one to measure the developmental prospects in games. Muir won't get much playing time, but he'll probably get some. I think it makes more sense to use this time to evaluate players at the bottom end. You don't have to stop trying to win, and with such a lowly roster spot, it probably won't make much difference anyway. I, personally, think this is an excellent time to see what the young guys can do.

I concur. Muir gets manhandled entirely too easily for his size. Gill showed a solid upside and can actually anchor. My opinion is that they should spend some of this year trying out a few of the younger guys instead of retreads like Muir.

Painter is certainly improving, but I think his stats are misleading. As others have mentioned, he fell apart after the first half. I also think there were some passes (the one to Reggie early on) that would have been incomplete or worse had the defensive backfield not been that of the Chiefs. He still seems to lock on when the pressure is on, but I certainly think he's improving.

I kind of get this argument with keeping first round picks around, but not at all for starting them, let alone guys off the street with bigger contracts. Brown, Hughes, and Ugoh are all first round (by number or effectively) picks that sat when they were shown to have superior talent behind them. I doubt he'll keep Collins in just for his 'ego'

I think the Colts are doing a bit of rebuilding, though you're free to choose whichever word you want. I think they are getting rid of merely decent guys and trying our guys they think have higher upside. I think they are playing guys they normally wouldn't to gage upside. Normally, I think they play "win now". Lately they seem to be on a youth movement. I dig it.

Why would the Colts draft a RB next year? Carter is proving to be a good #2 plus the Colts have Spann and Evans on the PS, both were iniitially thought good enough to make the 53 man roster.
Unless I'm missing something (and it's possible), I'm not seeing Spann on any practice squad listing. I thought I read Evans was on, but I don't see him either.
On second glance, Evans is listed on the NFL.com transactions as going to the PS, but I don't see Spann.
EDIT: Evans appears on the roster again, but the Colts.com transaction page shows him as on the PS. Odd.

I love the way some threads turn into politics, which I'm pretty sure is against the forum rules.
Regardless, it's an experimental treatment in the first place. It's a relatively young science and we're a good deal away from being finished with it. Being such, it's not entirely surprising it hasn't worked. It's good to know Peyton wants to get back as quickly as he can.

Campbell is on the practice squad and Triplett is on the active roster, according to the Colts.com roster page. The interesting thing, to me, is that Campbell is listed as a DB. I have little doubt he's likely to just be a ST prospect, but I'm curious as to why he's listed at DB. I know he was a safety at Army, but he's nearly 240 lbs. now.

Uh the last part isn't really true. Collins has never really had a major injury in his career. With that said I don't care who the QB is if you let them get hit like we did with Kerry on Sunday they are going to get hurt sooner or later.
That's fair, but he has gotten nicked up a few times. My point wasn't that he'd be put on IR or something, rather that Painter will likely get his chance, either through getting nicked up (which has happened to him a time or two, behind better lines) or just outright benching (like in Oakland when he was benched for Marques Tuiasosopo.)

If Peyton is out for an extended period of time, it'll happen. Collins is 38, immobile, and injury prone.

I followed him a good deal in college (I'm obsessed with military and Ivy League athletics). He was a safety at Army, typically playing in the box. He was about 17 lbs. lighter, too. He had some great athleticism to him, and was a great triangle number guy. Mediocre coverage at safety, but I imagine that could be either hidden or even boosted at linebacker. Word has it he's a really smart player. I imagine he'll play some special teams, which is something I thought he could be a stud at. On the other hand, he's 17 lbs. heavier, 3 years removed from the draft, and I'm the guy who thought his teammate Mike Viti would eventually be a beastly blocking fullback, so what do I know?

Not a fan of Merriweather. He's a freestyler who didn't fit well into the Patriots' system.
Oh, and the 2-time Pro Bowl part is a joke. The only reason he ever made the Pro Bowl was because all of the better safeties (Reed/Polamalu, etc) were either injured or decided not to play. He was actually the 5th or 6th pick.
I won't miss him at all.
Pretty much what I was going to say. Highly overrated and was out of position a good deal. He's not that good.

Ron Prince and Jim Tressel. Disgraced college coaches at the Colts, eh? Works for me. The things that they goofed up on in the NCAA typically can't happen in the NFL, mostly due to completely different rules. I think Tressel will only be here for a short stop.

He doesn't catch with his hands as much as you'd like, and drops a number of catchable balls. I'd keep him, though, if only for his ST prowess.

Each has to be had in a trade, have first round contracts (though Quinn is in his final year or two, and thus rather cheap, and have been underwhelming in season play (though Tebow was decent).
I don't think it makes sense.

If the Colts decide they need a different backup, I think it'd be because Painter and Orlovsky don't inspire even mediocrity and less because Peyton can't play. I have little doubt Peyton Manning will find a way to be out there come week 1.
If they want another backup, they won't trade for it. Too many of those guys have high price tags. Flynn, Tebow, Quinn, Elvis, and Olivia Newton John have all been discussed and they all have high price tags. Personally, I think they'll go after a FA career backup, like Patrick Ramsey or Jim Sorgi, if they go after anyone at all.

No. The money isn't what it used to be, so the likelihood of earning that big paycheck with your next contract is substantially lower if you're sitting behind Peyton. The NFL has actually structured the rookie contracts well enough now that success is needed to earn elite pay, and a guy just won't get that chance for a while.
If I were a high caliber QB, I'd be pushing heavily for the 'Fins or Skins. I don't think you see many guys refuse to play for a team because most don't actually have a QB like the Colts sitting out. Teams in the top 10 picks usually have bad teams, period. The Colts are in a very odd situation.
