it's mind boggling that people think they can fairly judge Saturday when he came into a ship wreck of a team that was quitting
Richie took over a MUCH tougher situation as interim hc with the Raiders last season but led them on a winning streak all the way to the playoffs.

The Texans have to make it look good now.

Colts win will do more damage
That's what I was referring to. Now the false narrative will begin about Sam, Ballard, Saturday and the defense as the LOWLY Texans have cleary played to protect that top pick second half.
-
This game alone will set the franchise back with the FALSE narrative of the continued just a couple of players away.
-
I take NOTHING from this game in which the LOWLY Texans are clearly trying to give away now to secure the top spot. Let's go with the narrative.... Sam is keeper, the defense is great, Ballard is a genius and Saturday fired up the team. Oh yeah and Irsay told you so.

The tank job begins for the Texans!

Waiting to see if the Texans take a dive in the 2nd half to keep the top pick in the draft. I know the Colts want to win for the Saturday narrative and Ballard doesn’t want the pressure of drafting a qb high so he can say it wasn't one that rated with say a number six pick.

Sam > Ryan > Foles
ALL bad fruit....

Sam only looks ok playing BAD nfl teams or throwing short. Oh and 4th stringers in the preseason. He's definitely not even Mr Irrelevant Purdy from the Niners.
-
And you TRUST Ballard to pick a qb?

Sam will probably start. Just saying.
Who cares at this point. This has been a MISERABLE season starting with that tie against the LOWLY Texans. No more Saturday but MORE importantly we are STUCK with the man that BUILT this train wreck!!!!!!

Been that way for a while. Noticed it in another game as well (forgot which). The guys have given up.
I often said too many NICE guys on this roster. Need some FOOTBALL dawgs!!! Gilmore will want out after the season. That's ANOTHER spot that Ballard will have to fill because the older Gilmore is the closest thing we have to a shutdown corner.

The great defense is making D Jones look like Mike Vick....

I guess the "great" defense is getting "gassed" EARLY by allowing TD"s to an avg at best offense. People do realize that this same defense is RANKED near dead last in the red zone.

Awesome, have a great time. Weather looks awesome today.
Hopefully it's an entertaining game.
Should be one of those LOW scoring games because the Giants offense doesn't scare ANYONE and the Colts offense is just plain awful but the defense SHOULD look good in this game given the opponent UNLESS they get "gassed" late...

foles has been horrible the last couple of years . outside his one great game at the super bowl he hasnt shown much
I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt because Ryan has been god awful. Foles can still give you that one or two good game here or there but NOTHING long term.

I expect the Colts to win this one with Foles at qb. The Chargers are inconsistent and with Ballard coming back I'm quit sure they have a 2023 qb plan in place. The BIGGER picture is to get a couple of wins to sell Saturday as hc next season.
-
Colts lack EXPLOSIVE players on offense PERIOD!!!!! Too many fgs. Hard to consistently stop an offense with big play abilities. The Colts methodical run first offense is just too hard in today's nfl. Time in the off season to revamp this offense.
-
Our PASSING game reminds me of pop warner football.
-
Our offense is LIGHT years from the rest of the league!!!! See the creativity and motion on that PASSING td?
-
We NEVER take a shot downfield immediately after a turnover!!! That was a Manning and a early Luck staple.

I did, apparently I tried to scrub that game from my memory, Lol, my bad. Fixed it.
Still, two games especially without his top running back to take pressure off of him and an Oline that was in shambles, just doesn’t seem like enough time to see what we have in him. I didn’t follow him religiously but thought he did pretty decent in college, obviously the national media disagrees.
Don't get me wrong Sam's a good kid by ALL accounts and will give his all but unfortunately it's just not good enough at this level to get this team to SB contention.
That's the WHOLE point EVERYTHING around Sam has to be perfect in order for him to succeed. The special ones like a Manning or Luck can come into dumpster fires and give you a shot. I just used those two because they were Colts but I can name many more. Until we go out and get one of those young DYNAMIC qbs this team will be stuck in mud.
That is the league now and Ballard has done this team a grave disservice by building the offense the way he has. The qb position is not plug and play. Sam can helm a limited offense but is that good enough? If mediocrity is the goal then yes.

its still unrealistic to expect a QB in his first two games to be great .
No one EXPECTS him to be great after two games but Sam's ceiling is low! Just because Ballard picked him (when most passed) doesn't mean all of a sudden that he's going to turn into a franchise qb. Sam has limitations that will keep him from being a special type. That Patriot game ALONE sent Sam back to the bench. If you believe in Saturday respect his choice. I said if they wanted a higher pick then stick with Sam.
