  1. Had fun at the game, although I severely underestimated how cold it was going to be. Didnt realize the stadium is literally on the water and think the wind blowing across made it much colder than the 35-37 degrees it was. Boys and I wore a few layers on top (long sleeve, tshirts, hoodies), but no gloves, no heavy coats. We were pretty cold about mid-way through the 1st quarter. At halftime we went down and found a spot out of the wind to warm up some. 2nd half didnt seem quite as bad, I think because we were already pretty numb :)  I cant imagine sitting outside during one of those below 0 wind chill games. Of course Im sure most people dress more accordingly than we did.

Saw a good number of Colts fans. Browns fans  were nice. One guy in front let my youngest son use a blanket he had. Didnt have anyone taunting or harassing us. Guy beside me was cool, even extended his hand after it was over and said good game.

Negatives were the stadium has a very weird layout. Any stadium Ive ever been to you can walk a complete circle around the concourse. We took an escalator to the top level, but couldnt walk to our section as both ends of that level  were dead ends. Had to walk down the ramps to lower level, find the other escalator (which took us outside the stadium, weird) to go up to the upper level where our seats were. Concourses are very narrow. Took us an hour to get out of the parking garage we were in. And we even milled around the stadium for 30min or so after the game to let some of the crowd dissipate.

Glad we went though. Boys seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Left at 8am, got home at 10pm.

  2. Cantbestopped,

I live in Fort Wayne, Im taking my 2 boys there too. This will be their first Colts game. Id been watching Stubhub and saw the tix in the upper corners for $10-12. Saw some today in Sec 511, Colts side of the field, about 2 sections from center, for $14 so I hopped on those. Sucks that we have to drive 3.5hr to go, but heck, Lucas Oil is about 2hr, and the cheapest tix for the last game are about $60.

  3. Ive seen this mentality on Colts boards over the years and frankly I dont get it. The mentality Im talking about is the majority saying "pass" on a guy that has some questions about his character. Frankly, I think the Colts could use some guys with a bad attitude. The "we only want boyscouts who help old ladies across the street" thinking is, IMO, why this team is soft. And in case everyone has forgotten, its not like the owner of this team is someone above reproach.

The guy didnt beat dogs to death or kill someone in a DUI or knock out his wife in an elevator. Ya, maybe he was frustrated about whatever the situation was in Pittsburgh (that frankly none of us know the full details of) and he overreacted, probably like alot of us have done at one point in our life. He was expendable there because they have Bell so they cut him. I for one would like to see a guy come in thats ready to kick some butt and prove something.

And as we all know the Oline sucks. We get that. But as many others have pointed out other RBs on this team seem to consistently outperform T-Rich behind the same sucky O-line. I wouldnt be surprised to see Blount do the same.

  4. I'm tryna tell you. Stuff crazy man. I just don't understand why the NFL can't be like College Football. It's like 6 games on at once over

    ESPN

    ABC

    CBS

    Fox

How can college do it but not a multi-billion dollar organization?

Or more like MLB.tv or the NHL package. You can basically pay month-to-month for all out of market games. MLB.tv was 24.99/mo or something like that last I subscribed to it. Its not perfect, there are some wonky rules when your team is playing too close to "in market" teams, but its better than $400+ for the NFL ticket. I just cant understand why the NFL is tied in exclusively with DirectTV. I cant imagine they wouldnt get an even bigger paying audience with, more or less, pay per view subscription.

  5. I lived in the DFW area from 08-12. The first 2yrs it was like the Colts were the AFC favorite son, as nearly every game was on local. During the Curtis Painter season I had to go to the bar at noon to see the game, and often times left by halftime. Cant imagine having to go at 9am.

  6. For some reason, some Colts/Manning fans think its heresy to actually speak the truth about Manning's lack of playoff success. Team game? Yes. But for a guy that many want to consider the greatest to every play qb, you cant excuse his lackluster playoff record.

But no matter what I or anyone else says, it wont change their mind.

Seriously guys, you cannot admit the guy just doesnt seem to get it done when it matters most? We've seen this time and time and time again, yet its never Manning's fault to you. Im a Manning fan, but Im also a realist, not an apologist.

  7. So....a complete team failure, from top to bottom?

You could say that. But how many times can Manning be on a team with a complete meltdown before it becomes obvious that there is a problem with his performance in the big spot? Ive made every excuse in the book for this guy, but at some point a large part of his playoff failure has to fall on his shoulders. Are we going to pass the buck on this guy for his entire career?

  8.

just blame the QB ...its a simple answer for everything

Manning didnt cause the high snap. Manning didnt give up the kickoff return for the TD. Manning didnt miss the 5 tackles that gave up that TD to the 'hawks player (forget the name), Manning didnt fumble after a 20yrd completion. But Manning is largely responsible for moving the offense down the field, and he failed, and failed in a huge way.

  9. I think at some point it rubs off on your teammates. Even when Peyton plays great the other guys crap the bed. I think his teammates legitimately think they're not going to win alongside him. Whether Manning plays well or not is immaterial.

Hes either the biggest choke artist in the history of the NFL or the most snake bitten player ever. Choose your side.

  10. Its just a pervasive attitude in the NFL now. You make a tackle for a 2 yard gain, you have to posture, You make a first down, you have to stand up and give the 1st down sign. You tackle a guy on a kick return you have to stand over him and bark.  All this "hey look at me" attitude and antics are really tiresome but what are you going to do?

Frankly Im also tired of wide receivers ALWAYS calling for a flag for pass interference when they dont catch a pass as anything too.

  11. There are 2 sides to this argument: either you fall in the camp that Trent sucks (which is the camp Im in) or you think a training camp will somehow help this guy, which is the camp you obviously are in.

Donald Brown managed to gain yards behind this O-line, why couldnt Trent? No one really knows, but the fact remains he didnt produce at all. I personally dont thing a training camp will do any good. The guy was here for nearly a full season, 14 games. What could he learn in a training camp that he wouldnt know in the 14 games he was here?
