  1. Why should Painter care about playing better? Being pulled with less than 10 minutes in the whole game isn't going to light anything under his rear end. As long as he's nice and secure and safe in knowing he's the starter the rest of year, nothing is going to light a fire under his rear end to step his game up.

  2. How come all of the guys they get rid of in the secondary go off and play well for other teams, yet they keep the scrubs around?

The real scrubs on this team are the coaches.

It's not that they're keeping the scrubs, it's just the guys they release are being picked up by teams with better Defensive coaches.

Freeney and Mathis deserve better Defensive coaches then what they have.

  3. The thing that upsets me with Painter is by the time he's comfortable finally and in synch with the receivers it's too late for them to come back. After all this time playing, starting, practicing, and taking reps with the first team he should not be taking 2 or 3 quarters to get comfortable.

This kid isn't even a decent back up QB.

  4. Simple answer...AGE. Players don't get better with age, they don't even stay at the same high level. Plus depending on how the draft works out we could have a better younger version on the team.

Ah, so that's what it's about.

And they could also have the next Ryan Leaf on their team. What I want is for some other team to draft him, and they play the Colts, and then Peyton just torches that kid on the field. That's what I want.

  5. Why? He will be old and at some point we need to move on. He gave us a great decade of football, but his time is winding down, I am okay with him for another season or two, but I don't want to see him out there at 38 or 39 or 40 years old in a Colt uniform.

Because if he gets a clean bill of health, is every bit as good then he is the best choice to get this team back on the winning side.

And how do you know his time is winding down? He may still be the same Peyton two years from now...even three years from now. Why should the Colts trade off the only man who is their only shot at any kind of winning record?

  6. Maybe if he had to fight for his job he'd play better. When they were talking about bringing in another QB before pre-season was over with this year, that seemed to light a fire under his butt. But with Polian saying Painter's the starter the remainder of the season, he's back to good, 'ole reliable Curtis.

It's like he really doesn't care how he plays because he knows his job as starter is secure. Some of the actual rookie QB's are playing better than him, and he's been in this league 3 years longer then they have.
