So a smart GM would take what will likely be a one year deal, max two, over a long term deal with someone they see as their future. Point is, they don't think Teddy is a clear franchise QB. I'd dump Teddy regardless of the salary cap, and draft a QB this year or next.

If you are signing a one or two year deal worth roughly 30/year for Brees and are clearly in win now you sign other players as well to help that correct? So yes a smart GM goes for the Super Bowl and not a QB room that has 20% of the teams cap. That is common sense.

They said that about Manning's draft mate, Ryan Leaf too lol...

The point is, which you're actually helping, if Teddy is so good and seen as a franchise guy, why not keep him, and let an aging DB, who was injured a third of the year in 2019 go. Bottom line is, they, and most of the talking heads out there, don't think Teddy is worth it. They were pretty ruthless talking about him yesterday on ESPN's NFL live. They went through all the potential landing spots for Teddy, and were pretty down on his chances.

Within the last week there ha e been reports articles and everything listing 5 or 6 teams with possible interest and many saying he has a strong market. This is something I would listen too outside of just a few talking heads on NFL Live.

With Brees still showing he has all the talent why would they get rid of him? You compare it to Manning and 2012 but he was coming off a serious neck surgery and a potential to not be the same. So we drafted the extremely highly touted Luck. That isn’t even close to the same scenario in NO. They keep the guy they have loved for a decade and can’t afford Teddy. It’s simple math. You don’t allocate 50 mil just to your QB’s. With all the guys they need to sign plus possible extensions. A smart GM clearly doesn’t do what you are suggesting.

If he gets anything past 20, I'd be shocked.

I’d be shocked if any team signs him to any 4-5 year deal period.

Prepared to be shocked. Nick Foles got a 4yr/ 88 mil contract. Based on reports of teams already wanting Teddy plus each year the dollar value rises in FA I would not be shocked at all for a 4 year deal of close to 25 per year. That’s the nature of FA. Teams are QB hungry and will spend cash.

All I'm saying is understand your value. Bridgewater is not a top 5 QB to be demanding 30 mil a year.

The art of negotiating is to go high. He isn’t going to say yea I’ll settle for 20 or whatever you give me. Just like Dak. You start high and get them to meet or counter.

That being said, FA allows for dumb money to be spent because of bidding wars. So he will get a good chunk of change. Maybe 25/26 per year for 4 years.

I get that, but atleast be realistic about your value. That's like me going to my boss and demanding to get paid 100 dollars an hour. It's not gonna happen.

You can be replaced easier than a pro athlete. Plus you aren’t going to work everyday with the potential of a career ending injury. Contact and all that. Anything could happen but they have more bargaining than you do with your boss haha

His career stats are less than impressive and very similar to JB. JMO, but feel free to give me a good “you were right” when TB sets the world on fire. 30M a year is top 5 money, and TB isn’t a top 20 guy, just like JB.

    Cheers

I won’t disagree the money side but in FA players get paid. I can guarantee teams will line up for him in hopes to have him for a good price. That’s the league. I predict the Dolphins sign him and he gets a sizable contract. I look for 25 to 28 per year for 4 years.

    Why so angry?

Look at TB’s career stats and focus on a couple things. His Yds per game, attempt and TD’s per game. What separates him from JB?

Not angry at all. Just not understanding your argument based on one stat as a comparison to JB. That’s all. I’m not saying Teddy is a stud but when it comes to vision, deep ball, and accuracy I would give Teddy the upper hand. In our offense I could see him being better than JB as well.

Sorry, but yards per attempt goes against what you’re stating.

That’s your argument? Tom Brady throws short passes with a small YPA. Yet has the ability to stretch the field very well. Our type of offense allows for a lot of short yardage throws. You hope for YAC for WR’s more than anything. Once sucked in you go deep. This is a massive struggle for JB. So again come up with a better argument.

Do u really think Payton would let a 27 year old franchise qb go over keeping a 41 year old Brees??  I know Payton and Brees have a great relationship but I would doubt the GM and Payton would  let Bridgewater go if they valued him as the next in line.  Would not make any sense.  I truly believe the Saints would sit down Brees and he would retire gracefully.

How do you know this won’t happen? Also, yes they have all the love in the world for Brees in my eyes so they will let him finish out there. He is still producing at a high level. Brees could want to play for two more years who knows.

Rubbish.  When your previous team pulls out of the sweep stakes it diminishes a players value.  Why would a team offer him 30 million a year when the Saints r willing to say bye bye? The Saints apparently r wanting to keep Hill, who has thrown 13 passes in his career, over Bridgewater.  If he was a franchise qb, the Saints would have kept him and tapped Brees on the shoulder.

Brees comes back and gets 30+ for the year how do they afford him and Teddy? It’s simple finances. Nothing to do with the talent. Taysom Hill won’t be the backup come the start of the season.

It wasn't just all Garrett. Prescott is not worth 30 mil a year.

Jason Garrett was key on directing the offense. An offense that had Prescott throwing the ball 40 times with limited runs for their big time RB. Prescott is average but not worth what he wants. That being said, players should demand money because it’s all short lived so make the money while you can.

A TB 20M per year contract will get that GM fired. He’s JB 2.0

JB 2.0?? How’s that? Explain that terrible comparison.

  12. The saints will let him walk if Brees comes back because money not skill. The guy went 5-0 as the starter not because the team was so great but because he played well. He will easily have the market in FA to get the pay day he hopes for. I could see him being good here the question is do we want that money strapped to us or do we draft a guy and keep JB.

The Carolina connection is only if Cam is not healthy. Thule already said if healthy he is exacted to have Cam at QB.

I see the Chargers and Dolphins going after him with the Dolphins winning the bid.

  13. What about Teddy Bridgewater? I have seen his name. I just saw an article linking Cam Newton.

There are reports that Dallas has said the franchise tag will be put on Dak if no contract is reached.

I picked JB because I just don’t see them giving huge money to an older stop gap. I don’t see them drafting someone to start day 1. And I highly doubt any trades for someone ala Carr or Newton or whoever. That’s just me though.
