I think he was more frustrated by the losing and the reality of not making the playoffs. Somewhere in his head I think he knew why it was done. Just the competitor in him I think.
Ditto for Gore. Losing like we did due to way too many injuries, plus not reaching 1k+ yards rushing was disappointing for him as well. Good to see that we have men "in house", that can bring that to the Colts locker room. I really hope we develope some grit on both sides of the ball.

T.Y McGill will have more sacks than Art Jones.
I can see this. But if AJ can stay healthy he can be very disruptive, and he makes the unit as a whole, better. Excited to see the Biggin's get at it!

Definitely think our focus will be much more weighted towards defense in the near future if this OLINE works out. However, you can skew the perception of any set of data pretty easily with a few side facts left out. Just saying...
This^ I think with better players/play from our line backing Corp, the "D" will come into their own. Can't underestimate the fact we seem to have better coaches in place to grow/succeed with. Here's to hoping for a great run!

Glad to see us have some genuine competition on the OL this year, instead of seeming to have to choose between the lesser of two evils.
And our D-line too for that matter. Go TRENCHES!!

It's pretty silly to have a memory so short as to ignore Luck's body of work simply because of the circumstances of last year....and to pick any team to win the division other than the Colts is to ignore Luck's body of work.
It's nice that the rest of the division has sharp up and coming QB'S but it's a tough league to win in, and only 1 QB in this division has shown he can do it.

5 preseason games makes me nervous for injuries, but I also like the chance for our rookies and project players to get more expirience before the real games start.
Risk v. Reward scenario right. I lean towards the latter part of your statement myself. I think with so many young players trying to get up to speed, the extra preseason game should be beneficial.

I could see a double digit sack season for Mathis. He seemed to come on late last season. He has a great attitude.
Agreed 100% I said in an earlier thread that I expect 11+ sacks from RM this season. As you said, he was comin' on "strong" <(my words) by the end of last season, and looked like he did before the injury imo. He passed the "eye" test by a wide margin.

Thank you for posting this B-Town. I had hoped Collie would have had longer to develop his game. He had plenty of want to/talent to be a very good pro imo.

With that kind of sack totals, I would be ecstatic. I concur that we should have enough quarterback pressures/sacks this season with the D-line collapsing the pocket. Hopefully this means more ints for our Db's also. I'm very excited to see how much the D can improve this season. I personally haven't felt this good about our D's potential since Jason Belser was laying people out!

I think it should happen. Can help increase a weakness we currently have, not break the bank and if he equals what he did last season then it's a win.
Plus we can see D-Free retire in a Colts uniform.

I would hope that Hilton, Moncrief and Dorsett take turns at being the go to guy depending on what the defenses show. I think Moncrief has the talent level but I am hoping Luck can find the best one to go to through progressions.
This^.

I think he could go 1100 yards this season. Not to diminish the need for our defense to be better moving forward, but I think our O-line play will be the biggest surprise to most in the league. Having a good/great line will make all of the other offensive skill positions better, which in turn hopefully produce results.

The front office have always been big on Thornton. Hopefully he thrives in the new scheme/coaching. I'm pulling for the kid, gotta appreciate his effort.

Thanks for posting the clip. Gotta like smart, intelligent lineman. Hopefully Kelly plays a significant role with Castanzo, Mewhort & the other batch of fresh blood in turning around the perception and ststus of the Colts OL that just hasnt been the same since Glenn called it wuits after the SB run...
Quoted for truth. Not since Saturday/Glenn/Scott/Diem/lilja have we had this much talent up front. I can't wait til we are trucking defenders in the run game. Trench's are looking markedly improved.

Still plays for the Eagles I believe.
He really is unreal, he would damn near single handedly beat us by himself. We couldnt stop him to save our lives.
Yeah, FredTaylor/MJD had a way of running all over us also. Always have liked Sproles. Dude just plays hard.

Hoping Varga, he really never got a chance to fire on all cylinders due to that injury, if he comes back healthy and stays healthy he could be dangerous. Would also like to see Anthrop make it through camp and onto team as returner, the boy can flat out fly!!!
Varga has allott of "want to" in him. Every snap is 100% with this kid. Hope he can stay healthy, because he doesn't shy from contact.

I chose to be optimistic and positive. I don't start out being all negative as it's been years since we had back to back bad seasons. This is the NFL and some teams are going to very good and there is no reason the Colts cant be. There has been quite a few teams that won a super bowl from a wild card spot and as an underdog. I'm not writing them off before the season even starts.
And I'll add that if we go 8-8 or worse, with a healthy Andrew Luck, then the meltdown should commence fully. But until/if that happens, I choose to be optimistic with all of the personnel/coaching upgrades we seem to be making. Might not be the "sexy" pick by the analysts to win the South, but win it we will anyhow. JMO

I don't care how many rookies start if they actually deserve the starting job. We'll find that out in training camp and preseason.
This^ As many as it takes, as long as they earn it.

Anyone who remembers this hit, probably remembers how horrible it was. I just knew he had to be done after that. Thank goodness he wasn't. He was never the same Peyton after that game imo.

According to Irsay...
@Zkeefer
Via Irsay: #Colts had Clay Matthews on the card in R1 of 09 draft. Green Bay traded up to Matthews at last moment. Colts took Donald Brown.
Boy would that have been awesome to have gotten Mathews in that draft!
7 hours ago, Buck Showalter said:I've often heard Peyton's injury actually stemmed back to a nasty hit he took in the home game against Washington during the Superbowl run 06-07 season...
I came up out of my seat watching this game screaming at the tv, saying that the refs were letting Peyton get killed! I can't tell you how many late whistles were blown by them throughout this game. Peyton basically was folded in half backwards. Outside the game where Manning hurt his jaw, I had never seen him take a cpl of snaps off.

Thank you so much Superman for having the stones to say this. I completely agree. We had an opportunity in Pagono's/Grigsons first years here with available cap space to do great things. It just hasn't happened in the fashion we as a fan base have expected. I realize that there have been successes in their time here that should be recognized, but the team is not where it should be personnel-wise. And I hope that Coach Pagono learns how to make in-game adjustment better, he seems to be out-coached quite a bit. JMO

'Excited' is an interesting word.
To me, every once in awhile in the NFL, you have to have a dull, unexciting draft where you take a lot of linemen.
Not pass rush stars or tight ends but big, strong interior linemen.
You don't 'win the draft' and nobody is excited about your picks because you are picking )linemen in low rounds
But if you get lucky, you set your team up for years to come.
For our Colts, this may have been that draft. If we get one offensive line starter immediately and two or three offensive line starters eventually out of this draft, we've set up our high priced skill players to excel for the forseeable future.
Can't like this post enough times!
Extremly early prediction...

Like it! Hopefully things will bounce our way this season. This could be the "core" of the Colts to come. Here's to quelling this peasant uprising in the South! (I really do believe the Afc South as a "whole" got better. Some teams more than others). Go Colts
