No it wasn't.  The backup QB sidestepped an uncontrolled rush.  The pass was on target enough to be caught.

My thought of "pressure" is getting your hands on the QB, being in his face with your hands up blocking his vision, changing his direction, forcing him to back up, forcing him to throw off of his back foot etc. , none of which happened, just a quick sidestep.

So my statement was true that better pressure would have changed the results of that play and many more for that matter.  It was our main issue all last year.  No pass rush which  forced the secondary to play without mistakes or plays like that one happened.

He may or may not have lost a step that contributed to his "down year" but he is still a good CB and with a solid pass rush he would be that much better.  That is all I was trying to say I guess.

We just have two different views of that play and thats okay too.

I just looked over the video again. There wasn't as much pressure as I thought, my apologies.

A pass rush would have changed the results more, although the pass was behind the WR and Davis was in perfect position to defend it. The backup QB made an inaccurate pass and Davis got muscled for it anyways.

We aren't disagreeing. Just saying two different things.

A little and not enough to disrupt his accuracy.  It wasn't even the starting QB, but Its all good friend, Vonte is allowed to have a bad play if that is what it was.

It was more than a little pressure if the QB had to step up and around it. Vontae got muscled for the ball and was getting torched all season. I'd like to keep him because I know he's capable of better but he wasn't good at all last year.

    Cooper made an excellent catch...

Vontae was on him like glue, and I'm glad we didn't win that game

Vontae got muscled, he doesn't usually get pooped on like that.

Where was I? How about watching Vontae play through injuries and carry this joke of a defense even though he shouldn't have to. We are better WHENEVER he's on the field, period.

  4. I can't believe someone ITT said they think Vontae is better than Sherman  :mjlol:

Vontae had a terrible year, even though I know he's capable of better play. Yes, the pass rush was terrible but Vontae was getting shook out there.

Really? You don't want one of the best defensive minds in football becuz he expresses himself? Becuz he's a big meanie head is that it? No disrespect but come on man, you dont think thats an improvement to Monchiano or whatever, whos only qualifications for even being a DC is being Chucks buddy from Baltimore. Give me Rex and give Rex playmakers watch our D be top 15 at least

lol no I don't want Ryan because he underwhelmed with that Bills defense. He would not be a good fit with our team, regardless of what he's done in the past. That's like saying we should hire Jeff Fisher because he took that Titans team to the SB.

Yah as I said.... Luck didn't throw to moncrief outside the end zone. Sure he got Tds but he barely saw the ball anywhere else but the goal line. And like I said he was most likely designed as the first read on those plays due to him being our big red zone WR.

And If Dorsett is bad for how many drops he had I guess Hilton is garbage too then? His catch percentage is only marginally higher then Dorsett. 58.7% for Hilton and 55.9% for Dorsett.

    I suppose.

Dorsett is not only bad for his drops, he doesn't get consistent separation and isn't always open....even when he is he can't be relied on to make plays. Hilton on the other hand, makes plays even when he isn't open.

Oh I didnt realize he is supposed to block Clowney 1 on 1 im sure most tight ends would have fared about the same in that situation..That is a COACHING problem and a problem with Andrew Luck not having the awareness to recognize it...

I'm confused. I'm not sure how it's a coaching problem that we put our best blocking TE on Clowney and somehow it's everyone else's fault that our best blocking TE can't actually block.

He didn't throw to moncrief when he was healthy unless it was the red zone (which moncrief is typically his first read by design). Also Dorsett was open a lot and just ignored. Everyone rags on him but he was right behind Hilton in catch percentage.  he's not perfect obviously but it seems like he should be given more of a chance. Unless there is some huge problem in practice that we don't see, but if that's the case he shouldn't be on the field.

Moncrief only played 9 games, still caught 7 TDs. I definitely wouldn't say Luck doesn't throw to Moncrief, that's just not true. Dorsett also dropped a lot of balls, it's obvious why he doesn't get many chances...
