At pick 26 we had an opportunity to draft Sweat, Tillary or Abrams. We didn't, we traded back 20 spots and picked up a 2020 2nd Round Pick and drafted Banogu.

We passed up on both Sweat and Abrams - both obvious needs as the draft clearly played out. Not necessarily Tillary though as we didn't draft a DT - and we never had a chance at Simmons. It does beg the question though.......why?

Did they have Sweat off their board seemingly like Hurst last year due to the heart condition?

Did they like Willis better than Abram?

After all, on top of drafting Gerri Green (who was their team captain btw) who played on the same line as Simmons and Sweat, we signed both starting corners in Jamal Peters and Chris Rayford (who actually look good on tape) as UDFA. So we obviously left that pro day impressed by the talent.

Anyone have any thoughts? Insider info? Conspiracy theories?

Will you forever judge Banogu (and subsequent 2nd Rounder) against that trio of players?

I think Ballard's approach was just more picks. Throwing a dart 10 times rather than 7 you have better odds at hitting the bullseye.

I'll Never judge Banogu on anything other than his play no matter who was picked in what Round at whatever number. His play and his numbers will define him.

Daniel Jeremiah on The MTS Podcast:

"Andy Isabella was my 188th player in this draft and went with the 62nd pick, he went to the senior bowl, couldn't catch anything, couldn't get out of a break, Penny Hart was better than him and he went undrafted."

The receiver room has a lot of talent in it. Could Penny realistically make the 53 man roster?

Penny Hart was the best WR during Senior Bowl practices BUT Isabella caught 7 passes for 74 yards and 1 Td during the game, so idk what the heck Daniel Jeremiah is talking about. When it mattered during the game Isabella was the best WR.

  3. TCU was all about scheme over technique. Ben knows he needs to refine his technique and is looking forward to being able to do that. His athletic ability to get into the opposing backfield is just ridiculous! He's raw right now, but with proper coaching (which he'll get) he's gonna be a Stud!

  4. As Shive pointed out the Redskins are starting either Keenum or their new rookie Haskins.

Redskins play the Cowboys, Eagles, Giants x2. They play the AFC East. Their schedule looks like a 3-13 season which makes that 2nd Rd 2020 pick valuable. We could have the #34 pick all over again + We got the #46 of this year! From a draft value p.o.v. the Colts came out on top. Next year's draft has some great players coming out.

You can't base a trade on what a team might do a year from now.

    Wow.  Such little value.

And it isn't even for this year.  So no help this year.

    Wow.

We will pick a great player with that 2nd Rd pick next year

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if we draft Chase Winovich, Michigan since he is very close to Houston in size, athletic ability, agility.

If he's anything like Garcon, just throw it away from him and he'll make insane difficult grabs. Don't throw it right to him or he'll drop it lol.

    Here's hoping he's a legit #2 !

I really think defenses will have a difficult time stopping TY, Ebron, Doyle, and Funchess all on the field at the same time

I was just about to write the same thing. Those 4 are going to light it up this season!

I like the kid, great for the locker room, but I don't think he is our future at safety. He can't stay healthy, can't rely on him and not above average at coverage.

Like us bringing him back, but definitely would like to add to the depth at safety. He won't be our starter in 2 years.

I wonder if anyone would consider putting him in as a full time LB?!

I said the same thing last season, so you're not alone in that line of thinking

If, and when Lawrence decides to declare for the draft, there will be one draft pick, that will be untradeable. The 1/1. Whoever will have that pick, will keep that pick. Just like in 2011 when Luck declared. Even Grigson, who made plenty of ***** decision, would've never traded the 1/1 away regardless of who and how much would've offered.

So, if Luck will be healthy and with the Colts, and the Colts will still have Ballard - who is not a complete * -, forget about that 1/1. They will never get it. Neither for Luck, nor for offering 10 first round picks or whatever. It won't happen.

Idk if any pick is untradeable, but that 1/1 will be close to it. Ballard is a great GM who runs this business as a business and doesn't let emotions get in the way. My idea of trying to acquire Trevor and subsequently trade Andrew is Not popular. It's just my idea for the betterment of this business without emotions getting involved. I like Andrew. He's a great QB and a quirky, somewhat goofy nerd. I enjoy that about him also.

Trying to get Trevor would take some serious planning. Whether Ballard would want to go that route...idk.

If Luck is worth that level of draft compensation at only 31 years of age.... why on earth would you trade him?

At 31 he will command 27-30M per season and he'll maybe have 9 years left.

Trevor Lawrence will be 21, on a Rookie contract and most importantly the Team will be built to win Championships even as Trevor matures

So did Brees.... when he ran off the field after what would be his last play as a Charger... his arm looked like Mr. Potatohead’s arm turned backwards.

I’m not assuming anything.... I’m just not understanding that if Luck could command several 1st and 2nd round picks at 31 years of age.... why we’d want to trade him as GoColts was proposing.

That is 2 years from now and very likely correlates with the larger part of this roster hitting its prime.

Thats not something I would gamble for an unknown commodity.

A team that thinks it can win Championships now would trade for him

What makes him any better than say Justin Herbert, who's coming out next year? The thing is, players collegiate games don't always translate to the NFL, it's been that way forever. Remember Ryan Leaf? The only reason anyone does is because of Peyton. There's been too many to list that have flamed out after being touted the next big thing.

Well I have listened to Trevor Lawrence speak to the media and he has a good head on his shoulders. He studies film already just like Manning and Brady. He said that he would be in college for four years and I believe that is coming from his parents. It's my opinion that Trevor Lawrence is already better than Ryan Leaf ever was and I believe he is on par with Peyton Manning in college, maybe better.

Trevor Lawrence has played one year in college football and people are acting like he's Joe Montana lol...the kid still has a looong way to go before any team should start tanking for him.

I never said we should tank for him.
