Or it could end up being the colts defense couldn’t stop anyone. They played scrubs last season and still were 30th in the league in points  allowed.

I will say this about the points allowed because it does put it into slight perspective. Gardner had a big stretch there where he was turning it over which did not help the defense.

True but regardless of the reason, if tenneseee (and the rest of the division) is better than the colts or if the colts just suck next season Ballard is likely gone regardless of if it’s because of the offense or defense or everything in between.

It seems the colts are betting that their roster is a lot better than most think and with a healthy ARich, will be better than last year. A risky bet imo but I guess the point I’m trying to make is the result of that bet is what decides Ballards future, regardless of what happened with Sneed or any other player they didn’t get.

tl;dr if he got sneed and the colts were still bad, he’d get fired anyways. So he’s sticking to his guns on his roster approach/philosophy.

  2. I’m not too happy w/ how this FA period has gone, but with that being said…

If they finish last in the division, Ballard is probably gone regardless of who the colts did or didn’t sign. And if they finish first or go on a playoff run, his job is safe even if they signed nobody.

Also, im quite annoyed that Sneed is on the titans too, but if they finish higher than the colts it’s likely more to do with Levis being better ARich, which at that point the colts got more things to worry about than missing out on corners.

I mean, ok. Thats not how it the math works, but if thats how it helpsyou make sense of it, Im not gonna make it a big deal.  But its confusing because thats not how it works.

Its a TIE-breaker. It wouldnt break a tie if it gifted a half game. It doesnt give us a 0.5 game on anyone else in the division.  Say Jax had the same record as us and HOU and we had a the tie breaker on Hou, but Jax has a tiebreaker on us both. That mean we have a 0.5 win advantage over Hou and Jax has a 1.0 full game advantage even though all our records read "9-7"? Of course not.

lets say we win our next two and Houston loses their next two. We’d be 8-4 and they’d be 6-6. So they’re 2.0 games begin right?

Except games behind (if I’m correct) refers to how many wins (or opponent losses, since you said a loss for us lowers Houston’s GB by 0.5) a team needs to gain in order to tie them. It doesn’t explicitly take into account the other tie breakers.

So again, let’s say at 8-4 and 6-6 respectively; the colts lose two in a row and Houston wins 2 in a row. That would tie us both at 8-6 but the colts and Texans wouldn’t be tied due to our tie breaker. So you could say the colts are 0.5 games ahead of Houston (since one more Houston win or one more colts loss would be needed to give the Texans the lead).

tl;dr none of this matters and it’s all just semantics since the colts are gonna win the division anyways haha

I see what you’re saying now. You’re right. Reich is a great coach and the Colts managed to slay the Chiefs first with a bevy of backups playing. Hopefully the word “injury” doesn’t come up anytime on Thursday lol.

Respects. I like the Texans team a lot. Obviously as our rivals I love talking trash and beating y'all but Houston has a lot of talented players that are fun to watch and are a classy organization. Certainly y'all are less annoying to me than Jacksonville and Tennessee haha.

Good luck to your team Thursday night.

He doesn’t “have to ball out.” He put up 280 yards in our win against the Chiefs.  201 yards when we blew out the Jaguars. And when he does get big numbers, he gets them because he’s a damn good quarterback. Not trying to take a shot at Brissett, but he isn’t as athletically gifted as Deshaun. I wouldn’t expect him to “ball out” with 370 pass yards in addition to 60 on the ground.
I don’t get your argument, though. Do you fault the Chiefs because they have an MVP? Or any other team that has a player who puts up big numbers and gets wins?

It’s not just Watson specifically. You guys are incredibly rich with superstar players like Hopkins and Watt and of course Watson making game changing plays.

My argument is I think the colts are a deeper and better coached team than the Texans. Houston has better top end players but they can’t handle injuries the way the colts have (hence my comment of they go as far as Watson takes them). So not having watt is gonna be huge. Obviously the colts have struggled without TY but they’ve still found a way to get contributions all across the roster to fill in for all the other injuries that have blitzed this team so far this year.

If we're 8-4 and they're 6-6, then they are 2.0 games behind us.  Each win we have above them is 0.5 games lead and each loss they have above ours is another 0.5 games lead in our favor.

Naturally, that wouldn't be "locked up" in a mathematical sense.  It would certainly sway the probability in our favor.  They've got games against the Titans, Broncos and Bucs the last 4 games and they could easily win all those.  We should beat the Bucs, Panthers and Jaguars, though the Saints will be tough.

But as the saying goes, they play the games for a reason.  We could implode, they could implode, or it plays out like we all think it would or some variation in between.  But beating your division rivals is always a recipe for a playoff birth.  Go Colts!

Except if the colts have the tiebreaker it would  be a 2.5 game lead. Houston would be behind us still even if they tied us. That’s where the 0.5 comes in.

And the Packers as far as Rodgers takes them, and the Chiefs as far as Mahomes takes them, and the Colts as far as Brissett takes them, as we saw when Hoyer was forced to play...

You can use that narrative with every team.

Watson has to ball out every week for you guys. Brissett has had game where he didn’t put up impressive numbers and the colts still won.

So did Luck, at least he came into the field and threw the ball and ran some drills before the preseason game and where is he sitting at now? This team is such smoke and mirrors in reporting anything that I don’t trust a word or a video that it is as it seems. For all we know, JB is dead and this is a body double. They will notify us after the season is over.

I mean as long as his double can get us into the playoffs it’s all good

The Jaguars and Titans will be 7-9 teams. Colts and Texans will end up with 11 - 12 wins.

Agreed. Jax and Tenn haven’t been bad, but they look about average to me. Indy and HOU have actually beaten or gone toe to toe with the elite teams in the league.

  10. All y’all calling for Rock to have been benched need to understand - it was either Tell or Taylor to replace him. If they struggled too (spoiler alert, they would have), then you can’t just go back to Rock without creating a mindset in these young guys where 1 or 2 mistakes will cost them their jobs. Bad teams have cultures like that.
