Sounds solid! Really haven't heard of the guy
At this point I think were only selecting players from Florida/Stanford lol
The Colts' scouting budget was cut this year so the scouts were only able to go to Stanford's pro day and fly to Florida and rent a car.
-
That is his floor, in my opinion. I think in two years he'll be the biggest playmaker on the D-line.
I was thinking in terms of 2015. I should have stated that.
-
- All of Geathers issues are correctable
- Takes poor angles when coming down hill
- Poor Tackler (Prefers to just hit way to much)
My concern about him besides the bulleted points above
- Limited plays on the ball given the number of games he played
Things I like about him
- Size and length
- Dont shy away from contact

Here is his bio
Poor tackling angles, goes for big hits rather than wrapping up. Hmm, that reminds me of somebody. Oh yeah, LaRon Landry.

Two of our last six picks have been backup wide receivers plus Johnson and Carter in FA. Last year with only 5 picks we took one for the future. Now we have another with our first pick. One of my best buds is a New England fan (we have issues sometimes) and he wanted a wide out but then said "Belichick is too smart to waste picks on wideouts." Then I watch as we take our 9th receiver and New England goes Bonkers over the 12th BPA going to the Super Bowl Champ which just happened to be our position of need. Yes, Dorsett is a burner, we'll get to see how fast he can get back and forth to the water cooler because he nor Moncreif are even starters. Maybe we can watch them race each other on the sidelines, Yea! Grigson better pull the world's biggest 'WOW' the next two days for Defense. Brown, Collins, Kendricks, Goldman, Gregory........Brady won a SuperBowl with incredibly average wide receivers and just ran the ball down our "monster" throat.
And to make it worse the Pats have doubled down on their running game by drafting Tre Jackson an excellent road grading OG. We could have really, really used Malcom Brown.
-
He might just prove to be a very good 3rd down DE in the rotation.
-
I'm thinking Adrian Amos or James Sample for help at safety.
-
What is the over under on the the number of pressures, hits and sacks that Malcom Brown, the player Grigs should have taken, will have when we next play the Pats?
-
No. I don't think this year's draft is very talented as far as drafts go.
-
And I thought Grigson and Pagano were all in for a Super Bowl season. I guess I was wrong. If they were, they would have picked Brown who could have helped them this year. Stockpiling wide receiver talent won't help this year. How are they going to use TY, Andre, Dorsett, Moncrief, Fleener and Allen at one time? Oh, and they have hopes for Duron too. Grigson says they plan to use Dorsett in the return game. He only returned 25 kicks/punts in college though.
I don't get it.
-
I hope Malcom Brown is available. He would be a great fit and a sure fire pick, a "cookie cutter" DL that Grigson is so fond of.
Otherwise, I would like to see a trade down into the early 2nd and take Eric Rowe and use him at safety, not CB. I believe he will make a better safety than either Collins or Randell.
-
He's a bust as a rush OLB. He may prove to be a good strong OLB and a good option to replace Walden come time for Walden's next contract. He has set the edge reliably and is a good run stopper on the edge.
-
I really question the pro player scouting. There were 18 NFL games worth of film on TRich and more than that on LaRon Landry. The scouts had all kinds of film. Yet they made the mistakes anyway. TRich and LaRon didn't suddenly become different players when they joined the Colts.
I can better understand a miss on a Bjoern Werner or a Josh Chapman. Scouts are projecting from college to pro.
-
Donald Thomas....the forgotten man.
-
The Colts want to be able to stop the run. Irving is a nice step in that direction. Freeman is weak in that area. Given his weakness, Grigson may not see him as a player they want to give a contract extension to.
-
Of the choices I would take Stephone Anthony, but I would have better hoped for Goldman or Phillips.
-
I'm all in for a big fatty defensive lineman in the first round. Goldman or Phillips.
-
What did Grigson say about being tired of being burned by knuckleheads? If he falls to 29, let him fall to 30.

"I think a big part of this is scheming."
"I think it comes down to scheming."
Has anyone ever seen an arrow into another arrow in Archery? I JUST DID ... with this post from "21isSuperman"! Nice shot!
Just one other semi-funny thought...
I am a scientist and so the arrow in arrow video makes me laugh.
There is a principle in science, yet to be disproven, that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Watching the TV show "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" did not change my view on this principle.
Yet, the arrow in arrow video did. Congratulations for identifying the disproof of the theory!!! Astrophysicists worldwide will be convening in a convention in Brussels to rethink the existing laws of physics....lol. Of course, this is just a good natured post.
Darrell Pace forever... Japanese video modifiers never!

I'm totally not impressed with the arrow in arrow thing. I think Kevin Costner also did it. I am a somewhat experienced archer with both recurved and compound bows. I have never achieved anything near that accuracy.
Darrell Pace, who lives in my community, is far more impressive.

Said it once & i'll say it again, Colts should take a hard look at Gerod Holliman. Louisville plays a hybrid 3-4 defense. He's got experience in this kind of system already & is a ball hawk. He's got really good ball skills. And honestly the Colts have never really had a DB that can pick 6 consistantly. I think Holliman could be a poor man Ed Reed.
Nor have we ever had a safety that couldn't tackle to save his life.
-
My solution to the starting safety issue??? Watch one of my favorite videos... a Dewey McDonald highlight video. You can't be anything but impressed despite the level of competition. A man among boys. He is a heat seeking missle and he hits hard with attitude. And that dropped pass on the faked punt? An aberration. He does not have hands of stone.
It's better w/o the sound. You may have to cut and paste the URL:

Just so many years of bargain bin players with our cap is getting kinda old playmakers cost money I'd rather get less players but better talent atleast then we could give Vontae some help
And I understand a few stop gaps on teams too but man we got old guys all over our D and starting too sorry if I'm a little worried
Your post hit a nerve with me....the D'Quell Jackson nerve. Why sign an old ILB who is barely adquate in run stopping and extremely poor covering the middle in pass coverage to a multi-year contract?
There was plenty of NFL film on D'Quell (and TRich for that matter). Their shortcomings seem glaring. Who scouts pro player personnel for us? Fire their butts and replace them.
-
i actually thought he was taller then 5-11 when i watched him play i guess he just plays big
Yeah, short, light weight (187 lbs) slow (4.8s 40 at the combine) and proven injury prone. What more could you ask for? I'm excited! (not)

Gore: 143 carries for 558 yds 5 td's
AJ: 65 catches for 710 yards 9 td's
Both players will miss some time with minor injuries and age.
Gore will share carries with a rookie rb while Luck will look for AJ BUT also has plenty of other weapons.
Given our track record, expecting them both to play a full 16 games is fool hardy. Gore down with an
ACL after game 10. AJ with a torn tricep after game 12. Didn't we come very close to leading the league with IR games lost for the last 10 years running? It's the Indianapolis water supply.

Grigson said that 4.27 speed was a "blue trait" and that kind of speed doesn't last long in the draft. Interesting. Mario Alford, a WR for WVU, has 4.27 speed and he went to the Bengals in the 7th round. I suppose he must have had that same "blue trait" since he is just as fast as Dorsett.
