Bills aren't losing out.  That's just as likely as us winning out.  So they're going to get the 5th seed.  That leaves us along with Pittsburgh, Oakland, and Tennessee, all of whom own the tie breaker over us.  So not only do we have to win out, we also need three teams to lose enough games so as to not end with the same record as us, plus lose games in step with us just in case we lose 1 of the 4 remaining.

That's just with us assuming wins.  This is the point in time where I remind you of who we have lost to (not to mention how we lost) to teams such as Pittsburgh, Oakland, MIAMI...

Our odds have to be something close to 10% odds.  That ain't good.

Your "close to 10% odds" seems about right. FiveThirtyEight sports ran a 100,000 case simulation and the probability of the Colts making the playoffs was 8%.

He was rarely on the injury report but he continued to play despite the fact he was obviously playing at less than 100% and he was still our best receiver behind TY.  And now he goes to IR.  Looks like he's an old school type of player who will try to play through the injuries instead of taking time off to let his injuries heal.  Now he needs surgery.  He was a pro bowler last year yet some fans want to show the 26 yr old the door.   Getting the surgery out of the way now should mean he would be ready to go for the start of camp.  Because of his age and past performance with us I can see Ballard bringing him back on a new deal.  He will most likely draft another TE as well and see what shakes out in camp.

Wow. A lot of speculation there about his playing through injuries. We just plain don't know when, how serious and for how long. I can imagine all sorts of scenarios.

I did not see tripping! Are you flipping kidding me?

Yeah, and the game is essentially decided by the refs. The two phantom holding calls against Kelly and Smith on Thursday potentially dictated that game. I would rather officials err by missing possible penalties as opposed to making phantom calls and throwing more flags than are warranted.

Uh no, Garrett's tackle was either legal or at worst questionable.  It wasn't all that late, and if that tackle was all that happened and Garrett was our guy we'd be praising him for playing  a full 60 minutes.

At the very worst it's a flag for a late hit.  These things happen all the time..

Rudolph was the one that took it to new territory by grabbing Garrett's helmet while on the ground.  That provoked all the rest of it, even if you consider that Garrett overreacted, he overreated to Rudolph doing his level best to rip his head off.

If a QB can't handle that kind of hit they really shouldn't be in the NFL.  This is an immature rookie acting out his frustrations after turning in a terrible performance.

Rudolph was mostly mad at himself but he took it out on another human being by attacking them.  That's disgusting no matter how you slice it, regardless of Garrett's overreaction to it.  Also stupid considering how much bigger than him Garrett is.

Anyway, that's why Rudolph was fined, but I really wish the NFL had sent a stronger message there.  Garrett deserves his suspension, but he didn't start that fight, and he wasn't the first guy to go dirty, Rudolph was by grabbing and tugging at his helmet in the pile.

With 8 seconds left in the game and Pitt down 14, beyond hail mary territory, and already in a submission mode, Garrett had already played his full 60 minutes before the play had started. I understand being very physical with a QB in a contested game. Once the game is essentially over, it is uncalled for. I understand Rudolph believing what I just stated.

you're right. Rudolph started that one. found the clip and have a good shot of it, wont let me post the screen shot.

    at the 1:23 mark

I watched the game real time. The clip you show started too late. Here is a clip that, beginning at 0.38, shows what really started it. Note, there were only 8 seconds left in the game. Pittsburgh was in submission mode and then there was this (0.38 forward):

Indefinitely for the rest of the season would mean that even if they make the playoffs, he will be out as long as the Browns are in this season. That is how I understood it, right?

Indefinite, to me, means indefinite. Until further notice. Nothing more. Nothing less. He could be restored before his next game by my understanding of indefinite. I'm sure that won't happen, but indefinite just means until further notice.

I know that. Reich didn’t seem concerned when asked about f

From what I've researched medical professionals have no way of knowing at this point. So, I have to assume Reich has no way of knowing either. Most times it's not 3rd degree, but there is no way of knowing.

I agree but it at least is something that isn’t like a sprain or something that could really keep him out. Autry recovered from his in a few days last week.

Well, you may have missed the point. It can be chronic or life long. There is no way to know. You just cross your fingers and hope. Most are not, but many are. No way of knowing at this point.

With Ty out, do you think Marcus Johnson should be brought up from the practice squad?

With Jacoby out Chad Kelly needs to be brought up from the PS. No room on the active for Johnson to come up.

With three of the top four WRs out Sunday Cain isn’t going anywhere even if he’s played poorly.  He’s the number two or number three WR this week.

I agree. So then Johnathan Williams or Rolan Milligan.

I bet he plays Sunday. Good news in there about Funchess. Hopefully we see him back at practice Wed.

Don't bet the house. This is what I learned about "burners" as it relates to Ryan Kelly:

Burners are typically either grade 1 or 2 peripheral nerve injuries. A grade 1 injury is neurapraxia, which is a disruption of nerve function involving demyelinization.8,9 Axonal integrity is preserved, and remyelinization occurs within three weeks. A grade 2 injury is axonotmesis, which entails actual axonal damage and Wallerian degeneration.9 A grade 3 injury is neurotmesis, which is permanent nerve damage. Fortunately, grade 3 injuries are rare in sports and are not characteristic of burners.8,9

There is an extremely wide range of recovery times.

I think the fourth running back goes before Cain.  Not that I disagree with you about Cain’s lack of production.

Does Ashton Dulin, Johnathan Williams or Rolan Milligan stand less chance of clearing waivers compared to Cain? I seriously doubt it.

Not all, at least not I. Since I only had the NFL Gamepass Listen feature (no video), I had Dr. Chao twitter online . He saw the play and wrote the worry was an MCL injury; during the game. Unknowns were how severe and if there was any bone bruising involved.

He was listed in game as questionable to return.

I believe he can sign a team NFL contract immediately after another player from the 53 man roster is waived.

The MRI will give many answers as to the severity and if there are ancillary issues involved ( bone bruise, etc...)

May be true, but...how much reps/film study/weekly game plan do taxi squad guys get since they normally can't play?

I believe they get absolutely everything but the reps. I don't really know this, but I do believe it.

IMO we would've won had JB not got injured. Our offense doesn't commit penalties when he is in there and he rarely turns it over. Hey I like Hoyer but he isn't JB nor is he Kelly. Just like JB isn't Luck at least I can admit who is better than who lmao

When you lose by 2 there are likely a number of reasons you can point to for the loss. Sub-par special team's execution gets my vote.

Yesterday's game was considered sold out. If it wasn't the game would've been blacked out locally. We haven't had a blackout here in a long time.

The NFL held to its blackout policy through 2014. Since then the NFL has suspended its policy each year. They decide whether or not to suspend each year. They chose to suspend it again for 2019.

  16. The refs were flag happy tonight. The call against TY is only one example of bogus calls. The NFL office should reprimand this crew for tonight's awful performance.
