  1. Neither are likely, but I would prefer harbaugh. He quickly turned around SF and took them to the super bowl plus he is does a terrific job with qbs.

Saban would be an upgrade over Pagano but I still have questions. He is great college coach but even a better recruiter. His success at bama has been incredible but keep in mind they have arguably the most talented roster and recruiting classes every year. He walks into almost every game with a significant talent advantage.

I do like that he has adapted his offense over the years.

I love Dorsett, and he's going to be a stud IMO. But Stephon Diggs is already a beast. He'll be as good if not better than Dorsett throughout their careers IMO. But if we had taken Ronald Darby in the 1st and gotten Diggs in the 3th-5th we would be better off. Plus Danielle Hunter instead of D'Joun Smith would have been pretty awesome. Hunter already has 2 sacks. He's looking like he's going to be a star, double digit sack game wrecking machine. With He and Darby our defense would be drastically better right now.

I agree. A lot of people don't realize that diggs was a top 10 national hs recruit regardless of position. Some considered him the #1 wr or #1 overall athlete. He could have gone anywhere but decided to stay home and attend Maryland. His first 2 years were very promising. He came out his junior year after a relatively disappointing season. He was a steal.

Im a diehard Canes fan and watched practically every game Dorsett played in college. Although he has terrific straight line speed, IMO he was never elusive and at time his hands were suspect (see ND game - dropped 2 tds). His hands seem to have improved significantly.  Curious to see how his season progresses.

Hence drafting the BPA argument.  Majority of us (me included) said why draft Dorsett.

My problem was that there were similar wrs like Tyler Lockett & stefon diggs that could have been drafted in later rounds.

Without Moncrief, I'm concerned that our wrs are too small as a unit.

  4. Interesting comment about his salary. Wonder if there was some competition with other teams interested in him for their practice squad.

@Rand_Getlin: I'm told QB Stephen Morris cleared waivers and has signed to the #Colts practice squad. Making $20K per week which is the most in the NFL.

  5. Burley was claimed by the Browns.

At this point of the year waiver claim order is determined by last year's record. So the Titans had first crack on every player, Browns 2nd etc... Titans claimed jace amaro TE. The Browns claimed 5 players. Basically the Browns were able to claim all 5 without the colts having a chance at any of them.

@ProFootballTalk: Browns claimed five: RB George Atkinson, DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, DB Marcus Burley, DE Tyrone Holmes, LB Corey Lemonier.

  6. I did a little research and found the following link. Interesting that it refers to the 1st cut down day.

After doing some research and speaking to league sources, here are the key points about the waived/injured designation:

*Vested veterans can be put directly on injured reserve without being exposed to waivers. This is what the Giants did with fifth-year offensive lineman Byron Stingily, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday with a concussion.

*Up until the first cut-down day, which was Tuesday, injured non-vested players must be placed on waivers through the waived/injured designation before being placed on injured reserve. This prevents teams from stashing young players on injured reserve. Once a waived/injured player clears waivers, he reverts to the team's IR.

*After the first cut-down day, teams can use the waived/injured designation or they can place a player directly on IR.

  7. I don't think the earlier question was answered. I'm not sure what is the benefit of waiving him & (if he clears) placing him on IR vs just playing him on IR.

I dont think the earlier comment about needing to be vested is accurate. For instance, Jax placed Dante fowler directly on IR without putting him on waivers. Colts put Anderson on IR last year.

Im guessing the difference has something to do with future contractual obligations.

Not only that, but Cole has was one of the few bright spots on the D this past weekend.

With injuries at CB they'd be better off looking a K'Waun Williams.

Looks like bears claimed him off waivers.

  9. Blueshoe, where are you getting the roster from?  I see you have Drew Ott listed.  I saw some reports yesterday that he signed with colts but later reports are saying he hasn't signed.

Regarding the other udfas I like the same players mentioned above.

Gil Brandt had OT Isiah Cage, Wisconsin-Eau Claire on his top 15 small college sleeper list.

  10. In addition NFL trade rumors, stampede blue has a good tracking list.

I like the Maggit and McKay signings as well. Tevaun Smith was hurt for a portion of the season for Iowa. He has a lot of physical ability.

Wide receiver Tevaun Smith -- 6-0 3/8, 205 -- also was not invited to the combine, but took advantage of his pro-day workout to impress NFL teams. He ran the 40 in 4.41 and 4.38 seconds. He had a 38-inch vertical and 10-foot-2 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.26 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.72 seconds. He put the bar up 13 times on the bench press. Smith had a great workout, and will be a drafted player.

  11. I agree that Artie burns will improve now that he is able to completely focus on football. Keep in mind Miami has had a poor coaching staff for the last 10 years. The golden era was particularly awful with player development and defensive coaching.

Undrafted guys like Sam shields, Allen hurns, and even Ladarius Gunter are playing much better than most folks expected.

Deon bush, Rashwan Scott and herb waters could surprise as well.
