They are arguing about Worthy I think... about his weight... one of the scouts said "that's why we have strength staff and resources"... Ballard doesn't believe he can get much bigger.... 10-12 pounds... that's pretty much in line with what you hope he will gain...
I immediately thought of Worthy as well.

Noticed in the episode preview that they were looking at Texas game footage, but it was on the defense side of the ball.

I have been big fan of Partridge for years. As a miami hurricanes fan, he is someone the fans wanted to be hired as DL coach or possible DC for years.
He did an outstanding job at Pitt identifying under the radar talent and developing them. Kancey is a great recent example. He went to Miami Northwestern HS and was lightly recruited by Miami (& the other florida schools) due to his size. Pitt stole him, developed him, and he became a first round pick.
I love this hire.

I feel the same way. Hoping we can get a big play wr. Of course I could see Ballard trading down into the 20s to get more picks.
Just now, Restinpeacesweetchloe said:This is much better the 20’s and they probably were not winning a wildcard game anyway.

I agree

I agree 100%. I felt like the announcers totally glossed over that play.
it was a perfect pass for a 1st down. I think we win the game if Granson comes down that.
Also earlier in the game Richardson had a great throw to Pittman in the endzone that should have been called for PI.
This throw was beautiful as well

Land weighed in at 236 during pre draft process. Cowboys fans upset he was waived
Ryan Hayes was a former TE

So now we must have cut three players
We need to make 3 roster moves. We could put guys like woods and fries on short term IR and only cut 1 player

The claims are done. We should hear about the waiver claims and practice squad signings pretty soon. Sometime this afternoon.

I guess I don't understand how it works. I thought each team picked one player in order. Since the Bears picked three, does that mean they've gone through it three times?
In other words, the Colts would have had two picks by now?Is there somewhere to follow it?
It isn’t like fantasy football, bears have the 1st choice on every player that was waived. Colts are 4th.
For example if bears & colts put in 10 waiver requests for the same players, the bears would get all 10 players

Jaylon Smith was cut. He could be a help to us?
I personally think he is done and would rather go with a young roster to build for the future.
To me this season is all about developing Richardson and identifying young talent that hopefully grows and develops with him.

I’ll add Trystan Colon, C/OG, cut from NYJ.
Another one - The Bills are likely keeping their fingers crossed that rookie guard Nick Broeker will pass through waivers. The team’s seventh-round pick played well against the Steelers, and interestingly, the team did not give him a single snap in the preseason finale. The Bills may have been attempting to hide Broeker on film to sneak him through waivers.

Colts big UDFA signing last year highly athletic Ryan Van Demark OT was on bills practice squad last year and reportedly made a lot of progress..He made the bills "the initial 53-man roster as the team’s swing tackle, having shown progress and upside at both left and right tackle during the preseason."
-
Not sure if already mentioned, but Rams cut their 2022 3rd pick Logan Bruss g/t wisconsin. Tore his ACL last year, but generally viewed as a good RG prospect. Seems like someone Ballard would be interested in.

I'm thinking he might, which may be why we'd end up with 5 TEs on the 53 man roster. I believe he has to be on it first, then can be placed on IR. After that, we either resign a WR we cut or claim one off waivers that we like.
This is exactly my thought as well. You can’t put Woods on IR now because he will miss the entire season
Woods makes the initial 53. On Wed they designate him as IR with possibility to return and opening a spot to pickup someone else

Idk?
Not my understanding.
My understanding is that a player has to wait 24 hours from being released to clear waivers.
No special circumstances at cut down, other than it's only 20 hours after cut down day, as players clear waivers at 12pm on Wednesday, instead of 4pm.
But if no waiver claims roll in today, you might be right.
I still don't see any special rules anywhere to make a player wait longer than 24 hours on a claim at the deadline?
Not for the final cut of the preseason. It has been this way for years.
Founds this article online which confirms my points above..... "On the final NFL cutdown period following the final NFL preseason game and ending Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 4:00 pm EDT, all cut players subject to waivers remain on waivers through 12:00 pm EDT on Wednesday, August 30, regardless of which day they were released."

Anxiously waiting for 4pm to see if we have any waiver claims.
-My understanding is that for all of the players being waived....they will actually be waived on Tues 4pm.
-After that teams submit their waiver claims.
- Wed afternoon is when we will find out who was claimed on waivers.

I absolutely love this pick
Reposting what i posted in the huge draft thread earlier today
Stacey Dales on nfl network is at Indy HQ. Thought she had some interesting comments about Steichen being heavily involved with the QB decision (as expected). Also she spent a lot of time with richardson during the pre-draft process. She said he Richardson might be her favorite person and has a magnetic personality.
Good Article in the athletic today we a number of scouts speaking about the QBs and other positions.
https://theathletic.com/4439864/2023/04/24/nfl-draft-stroud-richardson-anderson/
Almost all of them had Richardson with the highest ceiling and several had interesting quotes on Stroud
Richardson:
'Asked if he has any concerns about Richardson’s accuracy, QB coach 2 added, “No, I don’t worry about his accuracy. I think he’s got the best private quarterback coach (Will Hewlett) in the country. He’s gotten significantly better already. Hewlett’s the most realistic, non cookie-cutter real QB coach out there. What he does and how he communicates it and teaches is incredible.
“Watch his film from a year ago and watch indy (individual drills) and see some of the workout stuff and you can see improvement every single time. When Anthony and I talked, I loved him.
Coaches say it’s Florida’s Anthony Richardson. QB coach 3 said he has Richardson as his No. 1 guy, “which is not like me,” adding, “Who has been more physically gifted than him? Andrew Luck? Richardson has a more gifted arm and is much faster. Cam (Newton) is taller, but Anthony is much faster and with a more dynamic arm. Josh (Allen) is bigger, but their arms are similar, and Josh is not even close to as fast.”
QB coach 3 said Richardson is still very raw, but he would definitely roll the dice on him. “Teams have proven that you can do it with a (talented) guy that is ‘not ready.’ They do the Jalen Hurts model. Look at what happened in Philly. They tried to do it the normal way and they were like 2-5. Then they said, ‘OK, this isn’t working.’ We’re gonna get fired so let’s do the Oklahoma offense — and then they started winning.
“Anthony has shown so much raw ability, and the Florida offense is fairly complicated. When you involve that many shifts and motions, you still have to operate it. There’s some full-field progression reads. He’s reading three-level floods. It wasn’t just read the corner here or not every single play was an RPO or they cut the field in half. He clearly wants to be a passer. It’s just that he happens to run a 4.43 too. He is just so unique as an athlete. Josh Allen went to Wyoming and was playing against not good competition. If Josh Allen was QB-ing for Florida with that surrounding cast, how bad would his film have looked? And he had some bad film at Wyoming.”
“I don’t want to make an excuse for the guy, but look at what they had all around Anthony. They really only had a first-round guard, a Day 3 wideout and a freshman running back who might be pretty good. That is it. Cam carrying a nothing Auburn team to the national title, that is beyond impressive. Cam also didn’t play anybody like today’s Georgia team.”
QB coach 1 “loves” Richardson but cautions, “If you’re taking him, you can’t play offense the way a lot of teams are playing offense in this league. You’ve gotta play to him. He is a freak. Play to his strengths. Don’t put him under center. Let him develop into that.”
QB coach 1 is also really intrigued by Richardson’s potential, particularly as a passer. “This guy really throws it. When you look at him mechanically, he’s pretty good. He can throw with balance. He’s got base. He’s not real long. I love this guy. The film verifies some of that. I went and watched the FSU game, what was he 39 percent (33 percent) in that one. But you watch that film. Yes, there are some things you don’t like, but not one receiver made one play on any ball thrown. He threw a post on the money. Guy can’t make the play. He throws a 9-ball on the money. Guy can’t make the play. I know what the numbers say, but the numbers don’t always tell the truth.”

honestly, so far there are maybe 3 signings or contracts that i am jealous of for the value:
1) Reddick- $15M APR for a guy with double digit sacks in back to back years that is young is a steal. Good on Philly and happy for Sirianni
2) JC Jackson- I think the APR for him was spot on and worth it for his talent. And his presence in that secondary can be lethal w their pass rush. Huge get for the Chargers
3) E.Engram- Jax overspent on almost everyone but this was a nice value , espeiclaly with rumors he was supposed to get more than a one year prove it deal. So a one year prove it deal for $9M is a solid get.
I will also say some teams that usually kill FA w solid deals (Ravens, Patriots, etc) have not done anything yet.
And the Titans who we are chasing basically just re-signed their own.
Plenty of time to get some good players. All these guys are still out there:
Some of my favorite remaining targets:
OT - Trent Brown Pats
WR - DJ Chark; 2nd choice Juju
TE - OJ Howard - 1 or 2 year prove it deal; Gerald Everett
DE - Chandler Jones or Nwosu... possibly Zadarrius Smith (health permitting)

I am crazy disappointed, but imho, it’s lunacy to try and put this loss on Rivers. I think he balled out today!
-Reich failure to take 3.
-Turay brain fart resulting in 4 more points.-Blankenship missed FG
-Frank’s giving away a time out with a mind boggling bad challenge.
Game of inches at an the end of the day, Colts came up short. On to next year!I agree with your bullet points (the challenge was brutal and we need that timeout at the end) but still think we need an upgrade at Qb. Rivers simply can’t make the plays or throws that elite qbs can make. Watching Josh Allen make plays over and over compared to Rivers.

We did have plenty of time. Should have used the middle of the field and also incorporated Taylor. This has been consistent complaint about Rivers - just don’t think he can bring us back late in games and he just gets careless with the ball and when forced to throw it.
Rivers could have been picked off 2 or 3 times on the final drive

I live outside Philly and watch majority of Eagles games. Agholor had an awful season. This viral clip for earlier in the year sums up his season and how he is viewed in Philly.

I do like RG Graham Glasgow. Not a major need for the Colts but it is an area that needs improvement. Both Glowinski and Nelson are making around $5.4-5.9m/yr and would offer Glasgow at least 5m/yr.
For weak-side DTs am hoping we can get either Javon Hargrave or Chris Jones. Jones I figure will command close to $21m/yr while Hargrave should be a slightly cheaper option around 17m/yr. Autry playing strong-side DT was by far our weakest DL position and haven't been able to find a capable replacement except for drafting Gallimore.
Other FA's been researching that we should target are:
RCB Sidney Jones (Eagles) - despite his injuries proved he is still very talented would be a great backup / capable starter
RT Halapoulivaati Vaitai (Eagles) - another backup roster upgrade
FS Tre Boston (Panthers) - Played well last year and imo better long-term backup than Odum.
Colts should be able to acquire all 5 for around $35m/yr since we are projected to have the second most available cap space of $86m.
Sydney Jones has been absolutely awful for the Eagles. Borderline unplayable.
He was a very good prospect prior to the Achilles injury but can’t even contribute on eagles team with weak, often injured cbs.

Deebo went very early in the 2nd rd.
Also AJ Brown and Mecole Hardman were drafted before Campbell.
I still believe the main reason Metcalf slid was due to his injuries at Ole Miss including season ending neck surgery.

Game 1 at Chargers - L 30-24 - missed 2 FG and 1 XP (7 pts) - convert to W
Game 2 vs Titans - L 19-17 - missed 2 XP (2 pts) - convert to Tie
Game 4 vs Raiders - L 31-24 - missed 1 FG (3 pts) - remains a L (although I think there were other circumstances)
Game 8 vs Broncos - L 15-13 - missed 1 FG and 1 XP (4 pts) - convert to W
Game 9 at Steelers - L 26-24 - missed 1 FG and 1 XP (4 pts) - convert to W
Game 10 vs Dolphins - L 16-12 - missed 1 XP - remains a L
Game 13 at Titans - L 31-17 - missed 3 FG, including 1 return for TD (net 13 pts) - remains a loss
11-5 (if we win vs JAX)
Good summary....just want to add the the missed XP in the Dolphins game forced the Colts to go for a TD instead of a chip shot FG to tie the game and force OT.

With the Next Pick drops Tonight!

My first reaction was Brock Bowers when he made that comments. Also, Ballard seemed to make a positive comments about a player when they were watching the Texas defense...could be Bryon Murphy DT... i know some people think he is the best defensive player in the draft.
Lately, people have been saying Murphy has the best chance to be a surprise top 10 pick and his last 6 games have drawn comparisons to Quinnen Williams and Jalen Carter.
