  1. I know it's crazy to say this out loud, been a fan of the Colts since 1999 and what Manning has become has captured my interest and amazed me for over a decade but darn Luck became my favourite player ever in those few years he played. This guy has heart.

It all started with that tackle on Shareece Wright.

  2. I hope he is okay, gotta learn and navigate the waters of a running nfl qb

unfortunately this is the risk but thats why he is unique, I trust him to improve on this

also don’t forget, this is a 21-22 year old who excelled physically everywhere he ever played, he is finding out where he is on the food chain in the nfl but I like his chances

Having an elite QB is key to attracting Free Agents. When we had Luck, Ebron wanted come here for example. Ebron had a career year at TE. Andre Johnson and Frank Gore wanted to come here too, they were just too old. That is why I am hoping AR can look good this season and moving forward.

None of those were even close to elite, great, probably above average and that's being generous

Nothing tells you how much location matters in the NFL that we had Peyton Manning for decades and struggled to sign impactful game changing players

    And it totally makes sense

Even Ebron was a wild card we had to overpay to come, but he was a bust that might reemerge kind of signing, but my memory could be foggy on that, don't think it was a race to sign him

    Maybe Tee Higgins?

I'm one of those Ballard excusers that don't think he is much to blame for our FA problems. It has always been a problem for us. In this internet age, hardly anyone will come to Indy, the possibilities of bigger media cities of the coasts just dwarf what Indy can offer financially.

We either draft and develop or trade and overpay.

Good point, we will just have to see this year plays out. I am in the same boat as many in here regarding needing a big play WR. We tried with Pittman and Pittman is good but not a threat that has D Coordinator's scared that they game plan for every week. As much as I love Taylor, I would rather have a Justin Jefferson, Hill, or Chase for example so I get how the league is, but as of now we don't have that.

I'd love to get those guys but in reality you have to luck into them cause they aint coming to Indy as free agents thats for sure.

I see what you are saying, and so what agree in principle.  I think it aligns with Ballard actions over the past six years whether a coincidence or not..... acquire and keep premium players at the less premium positions.  Sounds weird, but things like a top end RB have cost a lot less than a top level WR...same with OG vs OT,  LB vs edge, etc.....now, whether that is prudent team building strategy or not is an entirely different conversation.

I see what you saying and its an interesting thought and I wouldnt be surprised if that would factor in to team building approaches all over the league but I believe Ballard to have a strong bpa mindset when it comes to drafting. Limiting yourself to certain positions each year to fill those positions w talent, based on the fact you prioritise those positions purely out of cost effectiveness seems like a contradiction

ps. didn't read previous comments just that one I replied to

I cant believe there is a poster on here who believes the colts are tanking. that poster must have never played competitive sports and fails to understand that players want to be great to make more money and players want to win more than anything. these players have self pride and would never look bad on purpose. this poster must have read one too many message boards and tweets.

Also how about coaches or front office personal? How many survived the purge in 2011?

Playing Curtis Painter as long as we did was as blatant a tank as one could see.  Irsay and Polian knew exactly what they were doing, and sticking with what we have now is easy to read.

We will compete with what we have and the better draft PICKS we have next year definitely will help long term. Irsay, Ballard, and Steichen and our Capologist have a 2-3 year framework for building a SB contender and winning this year, would be costly. We need studs. Several of our current" best" players won't be here for a SB contending season.

Build around the draft, developing our own talent, resigning our own if possible, and filling in the cracks in FAgency at the appropriate time.

     Wash, rinse, repeat.

The issue with FA isn't Ballard but the location of the franchise, it's an area we have historically struggled in

Regarding the suck for luck, this has been discussed at length and don't think we can add much more to that story. You either on one side or the other.

I assume you’re talking about me.   I believe I'm the poster using the term tank most often here, though I’ve called it a semi-tank.

I follow the team because I think this is a good strategy.   I think it will benefit the franchise in the long run.   The young players will be given every opportunity to improve and grow and learn on the job.

I think the team will win roughly 6-7 games.   I think the Colts will pick in the top-10 next year, maybe in the top-5, and the franchise might make a nice improvement next year.

Short term pain, long term gain.

    Hope I addressed your concerns?

I wasn't specifically talking about you, more like your comment triggered a response to a topic I see being brought up here all the time

Giving a chance to younger players whose development would pay off in the long run like our corners over Gilmore etc, isn't the same as tanking which I don't believe is in the character of this organisation either, definitely not at this point of the season

Not looking to be a keyboard warrior, just don't get this negativity here around team (again not a comment on your comment)

  10. I always find it incredible that we are watching the same sport, same team and league and same game and we walk away with a wildly different experience and expectations.

I, for one, am super excited, if I give up on this team that'll be after Week 18 not Week 1 fml.

  11. Realistically, in my opinion, the two things we needed to see from Richardson are flashes of being a special talent and control of the O overall.(line of scrimmage and all that)

I think he showed promise yesterday and he will keep improving and it will be damn exciting. I'm all here for it.

  12. That was a lot of FUN, we did a lot better than expected.

RB is an issue, I like Jackson but we need more depth.

WRs need to start stepping up

    Defense showed up big

    Zaire Franklin is a menace

EJ Speed will have a breakout year imo.

Corners I'm not sure what to say yet, need to see more of the tape.
