  1. If you read anything about this case when it happened then you knew that it was WAY worse than the Ray Rice incident, however there was no visual evidence at the time and he still had value to a football team so he gets a second chance. I said a long time ago that this guy should be done. I hope these pictures, along with the fact that he has shown almost no remorse, mean we've seen the last of Greg Hardy. I honestly doubt we have though.

  2. I always love when you hear "analyst" say, "Matt Cassel won't lose the game for you." Yeah, but he sure as heck won't win it for you either. Whether you're starting Weeden or Cassel, you have problems at the QB position regardless.

  3. I agree. I also have never understood why Colt Anderson is on the roster. He had some terrible angles of pursuit Sunday and just seems like a complete liability anytime he's on the field other than special teams. But ya know, he is a former Eagle so there's a spot for him on the Colts and a spot for him in Grigson's heart.

  4. This was long overdue. I can't help but to think back to a few years ago when some trickster set up a three way phone call between Buddy Nix (then Buffalo Bills GM) and Marc Dominik (Then Buccaneers GM, ESPN employee now) and recorded the conversation. It's mostly just two GM's chatting it up, but Ryan Grigson gets brought up. They say that he has the easiest job in the NFL because he was handed a once in a generation QB and would have cap space in the near future. Dominik said that he told Grigson "Look, you got the best gig in the National Football League. I mean, you got a quarterback the first pick, you're a genius for 10 years now." That just goes to show how incompetent Grigson has had to be to even jeopardize his job status this way.

  5. Why is everyone acting like it's a foregone conclusion that Peyton will coach when he retires? How many superstar players actually go into coaching after they retire? And out of those very few that do, how many were successful? Almost none. He's going to have a nice comfy job pitching products or analyzing football on a network. No reason for him to join a profession where he works 80+ hours a week for about a quarter of the salary he's making now.

  6. Well, of course most successful head coaches were coordinators.....that where the vast majority of the hires come from. But what % of those guys go on to be anything more than one contract guys/retreads/mediocre coaches? I'm guessing most.

Saban was almost .500 with a mediocre roster and crap at QB. It could have went a lot worse. Saban's winning % is probably similar to Belichick's without Brady.

Well yeah, MOST head coaches don't end up being great head coaches, just like most first round draft picks don't become elite players. You're obviously not going to bat 1.000% in any aspect of professional football. Nothing Saban did in his tenure as Dolphins coach suggests he'd be worth the $8 - 10 Million dollar salary he'd likely demand in the NFL. You can do a lot better for half of the money.

  7. I like Pagano better than all those options.  D'Antonio and Saban are college coaches, and should stay in college.  McDaniels didn't do well at his last HC gig.  He and Patricia are both coordinators in NE, and they don't do well, historically, when they leave Belichicks' nest.  Sean Payton, while similar to Chuck, would mean going back to square 1.

We have a good thing going right now, contrary to popular belief.  The only coach I would take is Belichick, and I would hate it because I just don't like the man.  We would win football games, but it would be like nails on a chalkboard.

There is no equivalent to Belichick in the NFL today, so let's not abandon the Pagano train yet.

I actually think that Sean Payton would be the easiest transition. We have the offensive weapons to run his system from day one, sure we might have to re-tool the offensive line in places and add a quick receiving back, but would anyone here be up in arms about that? Plus, Indianapolis would be the best defense he has had in years.

  8. NFL assistant coaches don't have a great track record of becoming good head coaches either. And Saban wasn't a terrible failure in the NFL.

If you look at the top head coaches right now and the longest tenured head coaches in the league, ALL of them were coordinators in the NFL for periods of time. the exception is Tom Coughlin, who coached at Boston College before joining the Jaguars. You can say Chip Kelly but I wouldn't list him as a top coach in the league. Saban went 15-17 then got the heck out as quick as he could after the season ended. I think many Dolphins fans will tell you that his tenure couldn't have gone much worse. Plus he'd be 64 by the time he took over. How long could you really expect him to be here? His style wouldn't work with NFL players for a long period of time anyways.

  9. He would also have to be fired

He can also be traded for. I don't think there is really a good candidate on this list that BProland has mentioned. Saban and McDaniels were both terrible failures in the NFL, college coaches don't have a great track record of making the leap and Belichick's assistants have never panned out in a HC role.

  10.      IMO, I was impressed with his how the team played (terrible 4th down call excluded).  They seemed to be prepared and I loved the aggressiveness, didn't like the fade on the opening drive TD but hey it worked. I'll say he shouldn't have put the team in that situation with the dumb trick play. One thing Luck still does extremely well is his hard count. He had a better chance of drawing them offsides and getting the 1st down if anything happened. That one trick play does tarnish the game though.

I don't believe that Whalen was ever supposed to snap the ball on that play and it was an error of execution, but yeah the upside for that play was never very high.

  11. I'm not sure if you know who Kenna James is, but he is my best friends cousin. We stayed at his place in Vegas a few years ago. It's safe to say those guys are on a different level where gambling is concerned. I enjoy gambling a little, I'm too conservative to make a career out of it. The highs are really high, but the lows can ruin you

Pretty cool story. If you're going to be a professional gambler than chances are you're going to be rich and broke 7 times in your life. Be weary of the 7th.

  12. I think the bottom line is somebody needs to pay taxes ? But no doubt people have to be assured that insiders don't take advantage of their positions .

Yeah they're pretty strict on the taxes on those sites. When you win big you have to fill out the proper forms online to make sure the money is reported. It'll also be interesting to see where it goes with the NCAA players, as "student-athletes" are barred from participating in the games because the NCAA deems it gambling, but they can advertise in the pros because it's "not gambling". Something has got to give eventually.
