  1. The Chiefs played the Dolphins, Bills, and Ravens in the playoffs and I'm pretty sure their secondary took them far. Including the regular season where Mahomes had a bad year by his standards and the defense was elite and helped win them a SB last season.
  2. Then we should build around him as if he's the guy. That's the major issue I have, that we aren't doing that.
  3. Top corners may be easier to hit on the last few years, but not for Ballard specifically. That's one of his weaknesses in the draft. We kinda hit on Rodgers, and he's gone. Kenny Moore was a practice squad guy we took from the Pats. JuJu is decent, but unproven still. Jaylon Jones was kind of a hit, but he fell off a bit. Ballard hasn't hit on a true no1 CB in the draft. He may not even draft a CB in the first round. That's another assumption a lot of people are making, and it may not happen. The guaranteed money really isn't a big deal. No. Every big contract has guaranteed money. The risk Vs reward Sneed offers is worth it. The Chiefs did the work of discovering Sneed. We would have benefitted in that case only because they have another elite CB in McDuffie. It's not because Sneed wasn't worth it. You allocate your resources, and that's what the Chiefs were doing. We could have benefitted, and we didn't.
  4. Why is Richardson better? Draft position? Potential? He is a raw QB right now. He has proven nothing. His accuracy is bad. He is a playmaker yes, but he has proven nothing. He could still be a bust as of now. Also, if you feel that way that he is better than Minshew, then you should have been in favor of signing Sneed as you think AR is a hit already and we should be building around him as he should be viewed as a hit. You support my viewpoint without realizing it. If Ballard feels the same (which he says AR was the best player in the draft last year), then he should have done the same and build a team around AR that's ready to win now without forcing AR to "prove" himself a year first.
  5. 90% of the forum liked the Buckner trade at that time. We were getting an elite player to help the team, and that was a 1st rounder we were giving up in addition to paying him immediately. This is a 3rd round pick essentially we would be giving up in addition to paying him. Again, the guaranteed money is nothing. Yes, he has injury concerns. Who cares. He's as close to a guarantee as you can get for a 3rd round pick. The only competition for Sneed was the Titans. If the Chiefs kept him and Sneed said he'd rather stay, it'd be different. That wasn't the case though. He went to an inferior team in the Titans. I'm pretty sure he would come here if given the opportunity.
  6. We had a middle of the road offense with him. He was a solid game manager. Richardson couldn't stay healthy. Again, you are assuming A.) He'll stay healthy with his reckless style and B.) He'll win more than 9 games when he's a raw QB with poor accuracy and we haven't improved the secondary at all. There's no guarantee Flacco will be better either. The NFL obviously thinks Minshew is better as he is getting paid a lot more than Flacco.
  7. Nope, but he has proven sample size in the NFL and he helped the Chiefs win a SB. He's more likely to hit than any CB in the draft, and he would have only cost a 3rd round pick in 2025 and possibly a late pick this year. You must not have liked the Buckner trade with that logic.
  8. We won 9 games with Gardner Minshew at QB. That's not an assumption, that's a fact. Assuming we will be better with Richardson is an assumption as of now until proven otherwise.
  9. I agree. Which is why when people make the excuse that we still have the draft as an excuse for not signing Sneed, it really doesn't fly as everyone participates in the draft and a lot of teams have higher picks or more picks than us. We don't have a significant advantage. It was up to us to create an advantage by trading for Sneed and Ballard failed in that regard. Now we have to play the draft game and hope for luck that A.) The players we want fall to us and B.) The position we need fall to us. Not a guarantee by any means the draft works out.
  10. We don't know this though. AR may be worse than Minshew win-wise. So may Flacco. We may not get 9 wins with either of them without upgrading the team. That is an assumption. AR is still a raw rookie by all accounts, and Flacco was on a much better Browns team last year and is a year older now. Yes, we have the draft. So does every other team though. We also only have a middle-of-the-road pick and only 7 picks as of now. Ballard is a solid drafter, but we have no significant advantage right now except maybe position need fits the draft. Our division is better. The AFC is the tougher conference. We did nothing to get better as of now.
  11. Playing Madden 22 so I can do Ballard's job correctly for the Colts. Starting a new franchise mode in his honor so at least Colts fans on the game don't have to suffer.
  12. Yep, the Sneed controversy is just upsetting because we knew 100% we had interest in him and he was a very solid corner that was now shown to be had for cheap draft capital. Perfect storm for us to improve and we failed. It also hurt that all our division rivals got better and the Titans were the one who took Sneed from us.
  13. Which is a stupid approach. If you want AR and the Colts to be successful, you build around him as if he is the guy. You took him 4th overall, he's on a rookie contract, why wouldn't you assume he's the guy and build around him so we can win? Even if he isn't, then you have the team ready to draft another QB if he doesn't work out.
  14. Denver is paying off Russell Wilson's contract, so I can't blame them for having a quiet offseason. It all depends if they draft a QB at 12. Still expect them to get Bo Nix in all honestly. That's their first step towards becoming relevant again if he hits.
  15. At this point, I have anger towards Ballard and apathy towards the Colts. This is an absolute clownshow. Not only do we waste time on Sneed and not get him for a cheap price, but we lose him to a division rival. It's like Ballard is trying to destroy this team on his way out. Irsay can't be healthy right now. This is Ballard doing what he wants 100%. Absolute sickening gut punch tonight.
  16. I think we have to go CB first round and WR second round at this point. Play the strengths of the draft. Go Safety third round. Signed the petition. I suggest everyone here that feels the same way I do do the same. Might be able to make a difference at this point.
  17. Maybe. I'm sure Ballard had no motivation from him to sign anyone aggressively. He just did his normal strategy without Irsay in his ear.
  18. He is not a much lesser CB than Jaylon Johnson. This is complete garbage. He was a top 5 CB. Just because McKenzie was slightly better doesn't mean he was bad. Dumb logic. Sneed was absolutely worth it for that price. Fits perfectly in our scheme as a Zone corner.
  19. I'm late to the party. Officially done with Ballard now. I'm actively rooting for his firing. Perfectly reasonable from a draft-pick perspective and cap price to pay for him. Don't care about the guaranteed money. You can cut Cox and restructure a couple contracts to open up space. He needs to go soon. I hope there's a petition to fire Ballard that Colts fans can sign and a twitter hashtag #fire ballard on twitter. He is killing this team. Bottom line now, if I don't like the draft, I'm not watching any Colts games this year. No reason we couldn't get Sneed when we were in on him for that price.
  20. If this is true, then I hope we get Blackmon back, as the S draft class is very weak this year.
  21. Yeah, Ballard is playing a dangerous game where if the top 3 CBs are gone by 15, we're in a rough spot. I guess we could go Thomas or Bowers if they are there, but it would be a rough spot. Not high on Kool-Aid, Cooper Desean, and the others after them. We need some sort of veteran presence. CBs take a year or two to learn normally (if they hit). Get Diggs or Simmons on a one-year deal, and that by itself would help a decent amount.
  22. I think there will be a few WRs available at 46 we want, but you are right, there will be a huge run of them. We might just trade down, pick up a 3rd rounder or something, and take a WR in the 20s. It's going to take some luck to get a starting WR, CB, and S in the draft with our first 3 picks. That's what we're getting close to having to do though. I agree we won't go EDGE most likely. Maybe a day 3 pick. We certainly aren't going DT. Seems we are drafting WR and CB every year. Wanted Sneed so bad. I heard last the Vikings are talking a trade with the Chiefs for him now.
