Dezmon Patmon was released by the Bills.

Could be interesting, I think we have enough WRs to choose from but never know.

No offense to Patmon, but I noticed that the waiver wire was littered with former Colts players. I'm not sure this team gets any better by going back and picking up former players that were not all that great the first time around.

We could franchise tag him so the games will keep going. Like I said we hold all the leverage.

Curious to know why you think this would be advantageous to the Colts to franchise tag Taylor next offseason? If he doesn't want to be on or play for our team, why drag the drama/distraction into another offseason by franchise tagging him? Not questioning your approach, but truly curios to hear your thoughts on this. I agree the Colts do have the leverage in the situation.

  3. Here is my fear. The Colts ask way too much for Taylor in a trade package (a 1st rounder) and get no takers. Then the Colts decide to put him on the PUP list, or Taylor decides to sit out and not play for the Colts all year. The Colts get no benefit from their best offensive player all year and the constant saga is a huge distraction to the team. He becomes a FA in 2024 and the Colts get absolutely nothing for one of their best players. This is a worst-case scenario I understand. With no takers in the trade market, Taylor could suck it up and decide to come back and play for the Colts all year. But if he decides not to play, this would be a serious setback for the team with little to show at the end of the process. All that said, is there a player you would consider trading straight up for Jonathan Taylor?

I am not talking about Patrick Mahomes or something like that, but realistically, what player would you deal Taylor for if any?

I advocated that the Colts take a look at Austin Ekeler earlier in the summer when he was seeking a trade from the Chargers. I would trade Taylor for Ekeler at this point. There may have to be some draft picks involved as well but I would do it. Ekeler seems like he would fit Steichen's system much better than Taylor. His pass catching skills alone (104 last season) would provide a great relief valve for Richardson and would help offset the fact that the Colts don't have true #1 wide receiver. The bonus is that the guy scores TD's in bunches (38 in the last two seasons). I realize that he will be a free agent also next year but he may be worth re-signing if he works well in our system.

  4. I subscribe to a service called anywhereTV.org. With this app you can essentially stream any local channel in the country.  They group the channels together so you can watch any game from any team. I have been using the app for over 4 years. It also has essentially every cable channel in the country. There are over 10,000 movies and more than 2,000 TV series available on demand. Additionally, it streams some movies and series from other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max. There are more sports channels then you could every possibly watch in a lifetime. It runs about $25-$30/month depending on how many TV's you use.

Not really a big fan of Stampede, but here are their projections for Taylor and Pittman extensions. Let's hope, this isn't it.

    Taylor:

Contract Projection: Four years, $60 million ($15 million per year), $35 million total guaranteed

    Pittman:

Contract Projection: Four years, $92 million ($23 million per year), $53 million total guaranteed

This puts Pittman at 10th highest WR contract. Also just under projected WR tag next year.

Like others have said, I would like to see another big year from Taylor before I give $60 to one of the least valued positions in football right now. Also, not 4 years to a RB. If you have to do it now how about 3-years, $40M, $30M guaranteed.

I know the WR market has been going up annually. Is $23M/year too much to pay for a guy who many question as a true #1. On top of this, would you offer D. Hopkins a 2-year $38M? That is $19M/year for a guy who is a true #1 when healthy?

That's one thing that NFL linemen do much better than college linemen. They know when they can't get there in time and they throw their hands in the air trying to affect the pass that way... And in a lot of cases they get deflections and they force incompletions or even interceptions this way.

I was just watching highlights of T.J. Watt last year playing against the Bengals. He kept swatting 6'4" Joe Burrow's passes down if he couldn't get the pass rush in time. He even intercepted him twice. Burrow was pi$$ed. I wish Young well but defenders will be coming for him.

If you have YouTube tv. Otherwise it’s $349 standalone.

ridicoulous. I had nfl Sunday ticket (student) for like the last 5 years. Was $100 for the season. No way I’ll pay $350 and I don’t want TV so not paying that price.

I think YouTube NFL Sunday ticket will not be the success they hoped it to be.

Might have to just stop watching altogether. Can’t watch the games for what I feel is a reasonable cost for me then not much point. I could afford it but just can’t justify it.

You can get an app named AnywhereTV for $25/month. It has all the local channels in the country so you can watch any NFL game throughout the year. By the way, the same is true for baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. You can watch any team that is shown on their local channel. It also has over 10K movies (new and old) and 2K television series on-demand. Every cable channel and sports channel you can think of and it streams content from some of the top subscription services as well. It would only be about $175 for the entire NFL season. My family likes the app so much that we keep it year-round as our main app along with Amazon which we already have for package delivery. I believe the website is AnywhereTV.org

Rough 8-game losing streak in there. Hopefully we don't have that but you might not be far off on total wins.

Fireworks and thirsty Thursday on the same night? Sounds too good to be true.

Never been to Ft. Wayne. Just went to a South Bend Cubs game though…and it was awesome.

I am a huge MiLB fan. I got to Bats games in Louisville a dozen or more times each year. For those who haven’t been, Louisville is a great place to see a game.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Parkview Field is a great venue whether you like baseball or not. It wins awards almost annually for being one of the best minor league parks in the country. Thirsty Thursdays are definitely the best night to go.

Will Anderson could be the next Von Miller?? Lets just pick him and roll with Minshew as starter and draft a WR at #35. I am not really serious but what if we went that route haha

It wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Depending on what we could get for the #4 pick, I think I would prefer to trade the pick and load up on draft capital this year or next.

My thing is... you can look at a lot of Ballard signings and none of them seem outrageous. You can make the case for pretty much all of them individually. But the pattern continues and the impact piles up signing after signing... he continues giving premier resources for non-premier positions. And then you wake up one day and you have the highest paid OL(especially on the interior), Highest paid interior DLinemen, one of the highest paid LBs, highest paid kicker, we will soon have one of the highest paid RBs too I imagine... He just continues to accumulate those contracts, while being questionable at every premier position of football...

    Just an observation...

You are right. Right now our kicker makes more per year than Jonathan Taylor (Likely to change soon). Ballard won't spend big on premier positions and then he does this. I realize it is early but his methods are puzzling to say the least. I am just waiting for the Ballard lovers to convince me that this is part of his fiscally shrewd plan to outsmart and outmaneuver the other 31 GM's. He has a covert plan which when executed will make all those aggressive, big-spending teams look like fools. Let me ask, how is that working out for the Colts after six years?

Don't get me wrong here. I like Matt Gay and I am glad we locked up our kicker for the offseason, but every year we absolutely refuse to spend big money early in free agency. The one year we decide to break from that and we use the money to sign the largest contract for a kicker in free agency history? Thankfully we have no other pressing priorities on this team.

Just as a reference. Chase McLaughlin made $965,000 last year.  Making $5.625/yr as a kicker is a great contract.
