Sorry guys, my blissfully UNinformed self has derailed the thread. Carry on with the signings cause I'm done talking about Collins
-
On the draft I stand corrected, just going by what the TV said. Never said it was a bad reflection on the team, I simply said IMO I don't think Irsay wants to deal with that kind of stuff considering the state of the NFL in all off the field issues. Why is it bad logic? Because if someone takes a stand against something and doesn't want a certain types of people or situations around them or the organization. Sorry if my opinion doesn't fit your narrative to solve our rt problem. As far as me being blissfully uninformed. You speak as if your dealing with the case, talking with colts Front Office, and being a lawyer all at once. Hi kettle, meet pot. I'm glad you feel your right as you should but your continued veiled jabs are running rather dry just as your know it all attitude has.
So like I said to you early esmort have a good day
-
Taking a flyer in 7th would have given him the out he wanted to not sign and re-enter the draft ... why would any team throw away a pick for that.
Of course teams were scared off spending an early pick on him until he is officially cleared, and the fact that his agent said he wouldn't sign if taken after the 3rd round ensured that no team would take a late round chance on him.
Since you understand the legal system so well it should be obvious how different the situations are ... Ray Rice was on video, was definitely guilty, and indicted, but avoided criminal conviction by agreeing to court ordered rehab (also wife would not cooperate); Greg Hardy essentially found guilty but a nuance in procedural law in North Carolina allowed him to escape prosecution through a loophole by paying off victim; Collins is being interviewed about facts in case and police specifically say is not a suspect .... Which of these cases is not like the others ??? Easy to see how someone might "mistakenly" assume a lack of knowledge of the legal system when someone uses the Rice and Hardy cases as precedents at this point for Collins ... Don't you think?
If officially cleared on Monday, Collins will not be a "headache" let alone a "migraine"
If cleared, given our RT situation there is no way Grigson is not among those that try to sign Collins to an UDFA contract.
It was said if he was drafted he could not reenter the draft.
Regarding my "precedents" as you like referring to, I am merely pointing out that off the field issues giving the NFL black eyes left and right. Again, IMO Irsay doesn't want to be asociated with anymore off the field issues than the team already has. Collins is a hot button in the NFL right now and not a good one. Again, if he is cleared good for him I really hope he is and he has a productive career, I just don't believe it will be in a colts uniform.
I don't get why your harping on this so much, its an opinion and I shared it, if you don't like it block me. If you think IMA change my mind and say your right, sorry that ain't gonna happen. Opinions are like butts and everybody got em. Some just stink more than others. [emoji106]

And all of what you pointed is very likely to happen and the police could find out he has nothing to do with it and he be cleared and I hope for him, he is. That doesn't mean the whole process hasn't scared teams away. He was top ten talent and he is now an udfa, so obviously teams are uneasy, hence him not getting drafted. Again if he is vetted and cleared GREAT.He could be questioned to provide/verify facts, help with time line, provide insights into possible suspects, etc...; they probably have interviewed dozens of people who knew the girl but are not suspects .... his situation is completely different than any of the other players you mentioned. If he becomes a suspect or if facts come out that suggest they believe he was involved, but just can't prove it than that's something completely different. I am not saying he is innocent; I have no idea and neither do you ... but your knowledge of the legal system seems questionable at best.
However that has no bearing of my knowledge of the legal system. I understand the legal system very well actually as I studied law in school for awhile.
My whole point is that I don't believe we will even push for him if he is cleared. Between all the crap a few colts players and even the owner have gotten into with the law, do you really think Irsay and co are gonna take a flier on him? I personally don't and like I said before if I'm wrong I'll eat crow and cheer for him as a colt. They could have taken a flyer in the 7th and claimed his rights bit they didn't
Grigson said he can deal with headaches, not migraines, being questioned about a murder that leaves a newborn without a mother is not a headache IMO.
In the future, it is best not to assume something about someone with regards to what they do and don't know. Its quite disrespectful tbh
Have a great day esmort

Why am I being silly? If I'm wrong I'll eat crow but I know I'm not. We didn't touch ray rice, Greg hardy, cut Jackson and the other dude over domestic situations. Cut the WR for weed. Boyett when we got arrested and ignorant. He's not a high character guy in their eyes if he even has to be questioned about a murder. Collins won't be a ColtYou are being silly.
-
Dustin, not saying it's legit reason but they don't wanna be near it with all the be the dealt with last year. Headaches not migraines
-
His off the field issues. Even if he is innocent, colts won't touch him nowBased on?
-
I'm sorry but those who are wanting Collins are gonna be sadly mistaken. He's NOT a horseshoe guy. Sorry guys
-
I know this is non colts but our UDFA we just signed has a pretty interesting story (Zach Hodges) too

MTC your on point!

Again Dan it wasn't personally at you. But Friday night this board was calling for the staffs head on a silver platter. Yes I saw that you have been positive but there WERE a multitude of angry people after the dorsett pick and then some rumblings when we traded out of 2nd. Again Dan my comment wasnt directed at you, just the premise of now Grigs is getting props where as Friday night....Not so much
-
I'm sorry but this board is sooooo bi-polar its unreal.
Friday this forum was ready to tie Grigs to a stake and now the props to him (BTW Dan this is directed specifically at you)
-
Yes I do. I just don't want to waste Luck's career like Manning's with this way of thinking.
Irsay has said himself he will not allow that again and I believe he's shown that. He will continue to do so as well, he like all of us want more rings and he knows that he has to protect Luck and upgrade defensively. Thats why the HC and DC are who they are and he figured what better way to foster Andrew than by bringing in his old OC. I personally think its a heck of alot better than the Polian years. So much more excitment, intrigue, speculation. It makes it SOOO much MORE enjoyable to be a fan our the Shoe
-
I wouldn't mind Tony winning. . . .Jerry Jones on the other hand. . .well lets just say I would have rather seen Al Davis with another ring of JJ and he even has my last name!!!!
-
Hey Gavin, Is your Avatar Freeman asking Colts Management what gives on the new contract?
-
Okay,
I get your point but I believe you have mislead yourself regarding your disdain/aggravation. In 2006 if you remember correctly before the playoffs MJD and co gashed us for an ungodly amount of yds on the ground. Yes our Defense won us the championship sans AFCCG but the defense wasn't world beaters then. I'm with you that we need to retool the trenches but if boom and others were making positive gains, I think some of the onus on our weak RB game was lack of talent at the position. So far in the offseason, he (grigs) has worked on those issue. Better running game with Gore, Herramans was signed, not to mention some of the development prospects that he's drafted. Defensivly our biggest problems have somewhat been addressed in FA and will continue to be in the draft.
As to them leaving that formula, they haven't, they just don't have the right type of players yet for the system. We saw flashes of our dominating D last year. Be patient grasshopper!
-
Here's hoping he is pruinng out that horrible run-defense last year!
-
Here's the biggest thing I got from the article and this thread
1. Talk is cheap
2. The offseason is wayy too long
3. Patriots are horrible... well a couple Pats fans are ok
4. Until we tighten up our bootstraps and finally REALLY punch the pats in the mouth (like 06) were gonna continue to get punked by them. All the name calling(or lackthereof is nonsense)
-
Wow. . .ala edge. . .Edge got crucified on these boards for not showing up to OTA's but Edge always brought it. He showed up, Edge never did and always came to work.
It's the offseason. No news is big news!

It's tragic to think that these kids have dreamed of playing this game since they were young and had their families cheering them on then, and after they fulfill their dreams these fist-pumps turn to open hands asking for handouts.
By no means do I feel "sorry" for the typical pro athlete but its tragic what money will do to loved ones.

someone refresh my memory please, what was his injury?
