  1. Lb, lb, lb! By far the weakest position on the colts. Colts lb’s make rushing tackles 5 yards down field and can’t cover anyone, number of tackles is the most misleading stat in football and colts lb’s are great at it, big deal. The nfl has mobile qb’s and short passing plays, that is what hurt the colts all year. Not good against the run, the pass, and not good blitzes.

  2. He has found lb starters in late rounds, but it would be nice to have a lb that was making plays around the line of scrimage instead of 5 yards past the los. That’s why I was never a fan of colt lb number of tackles stats that so many here rave about going back many years. You would have to be really lucky to get a difference making lb late in the draft and why the colts don’t get them.

It blows my mind how much of media and fans will push a narrative. For example, one media person said "Against the Rams, Ricardson was the best player on the field". hahaha Or called a "franchise QB" and "the next great Colts QB". Tell me this...based on what????  That he was drafted high? So where JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, and Akili Smith. That he is an athletic monster? So were Tim Tebow and Trey Lance.  Or, is it because he was drafted high, he has physical traits, and we are told that he will be those things?

So I suggest those who drink the Kool-Aid refer to Justin Fields. Similar player with much more experience in college.  A good runner for a QB who is inaccurate as a passer. But every year we hear "Oh, but he is progressing". Compared to who?  Fields got sacked 1 time out of every 9 passes.  Ok, they blame poor offense line.  But when Tyson Baggert, a college free agent who had to play as a rookie, started games, he was sacked 1 time out of every 29 passes.  So did the line suddenly get better?  Yet, there are STILL media people pushing that Fields has this great potention.  Come on, after three seasons, I think we know what he is.  An inaccurate, indecisive QB who can run. And new to the world. QBs are supposed to be PASSERS first.

Anthony Richardson seems like a good, hardworking guy. But I have little doubt he will be a bust as an accurate, decisive NFL QB.  He will run and that will make highlight films. He will have an ocassional nice pass or game. But overall, he will be a bust.

That is why I am praying the Colts resign Gardner Minshew.  Because he is and will always be a better NFL QB than Richardson.  Mark my words.  If we lose Minshew. we better draft another QB prospect like Michael Pratt and just hope he can be a Brock Purdy type gem, because Anthony Richardson is our Trey Lance. I guarantee it.

I agree with the over hyping without showing much yet, but the minshew stuff is just crazy. Saying Richardson is a bust is as bad as the hyping. All players take time to show what type of player they will be.

I like the signing, especially after having lost Minshew to the Raiders. If Flacco is forced to play as many games as Gardner was, we're screwed anyway but Joe is a seasoned veteran who won a Superbowl as a starting QB, and the knowledge he can offer AR in that respect could be invaluable.

if he is forced to play, you just have to adjust the offense to more rushing, play action passing, and keeping a te in to block on passing plays. If the colts get a te that can block, like I have said they need, they have the pieces to be successful playing with Flacco.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Franklin the one who stopped the train in Derrick Henry on 4th and inches to preserve the win? I really don't care what PFF says about him, he is a good player. When Grover was out, our run defense suffered, we were lucky to have Franklin making tackles 3 or 4 yards downfield because our D.Line struggled against the run.

Buckner had Henry by the leg behind the line of scrimmage and then Franklin pushed him backwards. That was Buckner’s great play!

yea he’s not pat angerer … he gets real tackles 😂

he is pat angerer. I said it about pat years ago when everyone else here was on that bandwagon and have been saying the same thing about Zaire. They both get tackles 5 yards down field, and Zaire has a good line in front of him! I want better, I don’t have a problem having him as a backup, so I wouldn’t have given him the extension. Time will tell.

  7. Love the signing! I didn’t want minshew back at all. When I saw Flacco playing with the browns, I thought why didn’t the colts sign him instead of minshew. I was thinking he retired and was done with football. Richardson will learn a lot from him! They both have big arms and Flacco can help him learn how to complete passes down field. I didn’t see anything minshew could help him with! The colts have a good line and running game, I think the colts can win if he has to play qb as long as they don’t keep trying the rpo if he is playing.

There were alot of members of that team that really wernt that good. I've never been a Gary Brackett fan, tbh. Alot of the contracts were to big. I think it's fair to say the cap wasn't well managed for the future and that's why when Grigson got the team he had to blow the whole roster up. Now I think some players could of been kept if we remained a 4-3, but that's another story.

absolutely! Bracket was another player I said the same thing about also, and it also wasn’t a popular stance here! Dallas Clarke was also one I said they shouldn’t give that last big contract to.

He’s not a playmaker, in the sense that Leonard was.  But there aren’t many like he was in his prime.

You can’t deny that Franklin is a tackling machine.  I think it’s safe in saying the Colts have no immediate plans to replace him.

Even though Chase did not do well in SF (which may lower his asking price) I’d still love to see Ballard make a run at him.  Pipe dream.  I know.

my problem with Franklin is most of his tackles are 5 yards down field and he can’t cover anyone. That just doesn’t cut it and is the same things I said about pat angerer, and that wasn’t at all popular here back then. I want lb’s that can shed blocks and make plays around the line of scrimmage. The colts haven’t had many of them over the years.

Which LB(s) do you want to upgrade?  Or are you talking about a specialty player for the pass rush?

I want to replace Franklin,  just don’t see him being a play maker, I don’t have a problem with speed or Harrison. That means we should bring in two that hopefully can start or be situational players.

  11. The best pressure kc got was when they sent some kind of blitz. Not many teams get quick pressure without blitzing. A top offense can usually account for a top pass rusher it there isn’t a blitz or a threat of one. I would rather see more blitzes as opposed to a top pass rusher. The colts d-line is fine but the lb’s need a lot of improvement! That’s where I want the colts to use some higher draft picks, probably trade out of the first for more picks.

Take Mahommes out and alot of those talents would look their part. Mahommes is that generation QB that makes everyone around him better. It is what it is and congrats to KC for having him. Peyton did it for us. While we had some elite players then too, most were average and it showed once he was gone.

Yes! I said this back when manning was here when a lot of contracts were up and I felt the colts were over paying some players, and it wasn’t very popular here!

I would think the stats are self-explanatory...as well as the cherished D-Hopkins losing a bit with age.

BTW, if AP runs a lot of decoy routes, do you think DBs know the Colts do that? And, don't cover him as well as if they thought he was going to be targeted?  Looser coverage probably allows AP to look more "open" to the amateur looking at All-22.

if they aren’t covering him intentionally, wouldn’t a good coach exploit this? Weather it’s the coach or the qb, it isn’t pierce’s fault he isn’t thrown to!

At the end of the day I believe Pierce is underused

But…… let’s be honest, he is not the dynamic WR that this team needs

My hope is that we find that guy in late round 1 after we trade back a few places

and pick up another 2nd rounder ( or more)

right now no one is a dynamic receiver as long as they have a second hand qb that doesn’t have the arm or instinct to be able to throw the deep ball. Hopefully Richardson has BOTH those qualities and then the colts will really know what they have at the wr position. It’s just not fair to make wr judgements playing with the qb’s the colts have had recently.

Prime Peyton manning in todays league would absolutely torch defenses. He would have 50 touchdowns every year. The league now is soft and favor the offense by far. Same goes as WR. WR. back the would torch the defenses ow because they arent being grabbed every play. Same goes for like NBA thats why players are able to score so much points in a game because defense is soft.

all sports have changed the rules to encourage a lot more offense!  That makes it impossible to compare players by stats. There are greatest of their era, not really greatest of all time.

Peirce's value to this team will be answered in contract talks with Pittman. Some contend that Pierce was open a lot this  year and Minshew simply didn't throw to him because most likely Minshew doesn't trust his arm strength. If that is true, then why resign Pittman? If the Colts study the film and see that Pierce was indeed open a lot then do they not have another capable #2 in Pierce who has more speed and the ability to stretch the defense? Why would you resign another #2 in Pittman and say give him 20 mill if that is what the market says he is worth? If it is me, I would let him test the market. I really don't believe there is a lot of market for him out there. I don't think he would be paid close to  20 million by another team. He screams a  big possession receiver and can   the last wr to make it big in the market who has the same game as Pittman.  If the Colts sign him without let him test the market, then that is  jsut silly. Hurt feelings or not, you cannot pay a good player elite money. That is when you get into trouble.

I completely agree. I think he will sign a reasonable contract with the colts, below what most here think. The colts will take a shot at a receiver in the middle rounds also. There are always a lot of receivers coming out every year because of the trend to passing offenses in college now.

It’s about when you play them.

Do you think we would beat the Ravens right now?

Do you think the Jags beat the Bills at any point after the Bills fired Dorsey? The Bills were a new team after that.

A win is a win no mater when it was. Every team has to deal with adversity of some kind during a season that doesn’t mean you take wins and losses of the record.
