I would say we are about 4 LB's, 2 DL, a CB, and a RB away from any form of legitimacy, not all need to be pro bowlers but they should at least be starting caliber. The Colts are blessed with a great QB, who makes them somewhat competitive from week to week, but your kidding yourself if you think this team is even close to a championship. If they do some how make the playoffs they will once again be embarrassed by the Patriots.

You know it's a bad year in the line backing business when so many are praising the likes of Eric freakin Walden.

Geathers actually made a really nice pass break up late in the 3rd qtr.

I'm starting to get worried about Geathers to be honest. Hes getting burned by tight ends and running backs. TJ Green on the other hand is in position but making silly rookie mistakes. Got to clean it up fellas.
It looks like Geathers is a little hesitant or just late reading the play, at least he isn't limited by his athleticism, like a lot of other defensive starters.

He definitely looked better. He was somewhat aided by Mariota being somewhat inaccurate though. A couple of the plays he was defending should have been completed otherwise. The difference was he was much closer this time where he could make the tackle/possibly contest the catch. Definitely improved. He can build on this game.
I saw the same thing, he made some nice plays, but a better QB and receiver would have likely torched Robinson on a few of those plays.

Never said he wasn't, just pointing out that quoting total tackles as a stat is a waste of time really.
Like I said, the stats can be misleading but having a guy who makes plays is never a bad thing.

As opposed to Freeman's replacement (Moore) who missed his tackles 5 yards passed the los.

Total tackle numbers are one of the most misleading stats in the league. It's like judging a QB on the number of picks they throw. It really means nothing without context. Why INT% is a much better number to look at.
In this case I'd be more interested in TFLs.
I agree the stats can be mis-leading, but having a guy who is leading the league can't be a bad thing. I don't think any one would argue that Freeman is better than anyone we currently have on the roster

I know stats don't always tell the whole story, however while trying to figure out why there has been such a significant drop off in the quality of play from our defense, I found this particular interesting. Jerrell Freeman is currently 3rd in the league with 65 tackles. The Colts top 2 linebackers, D'qwell Jackson (36) and Eric Walden (16) have a combined 52 tackles between them. I'm sure it's only part of the reason but letting Freeman walk was easily the worst move of the off-season.

This is better than the trade T.Y thread from a couple weeks ago

With the benefit of hindsight I would say T Rich and Werner have to be 1a and 1b, after that, free agents such Landry, Jones and Cole come to mind. Although I don't dislike the player I think the Dorsett pick could have been better spent. In fact Kelly is easily the best draft pick the Colts have made since Luck.

We all know details like whose going to play if we cut this guy can't get in the way of cutting someone because the forum is mad! Come on!
When it comes to replacing Rietz. Haeg, Good, and Clark all come to mind. Anything is better than watching Rietz turnstyle his way to the waiver wire.
-
Now that we've gotten rid of those 2 starters (Cromartie and Moore) we must be Superbowl bound

How can we cut Reitz or Castonzo? Blythe and Clark aren't Sunday ready Who plays on the OL?
I could do without Reitz, but there is nobody on the roster even close to taking Castonzo's spot.

I'm with you on Doyle, he has been a pleasant surprise. I like Ferguson as a receiving option out of the back field, but not running between the tackles, and he is absolutely terrible at blitz protection. The secondary should improve with health. Linebackers are terrible.

The OP should be fired.
-
For me it was the Colts defense inability to get off the field on 3rd down, including several 3rd and 8+. It was particularly frustrating to watch 3- 4 yard passes go for 12-15 yards on 3rd and long.

I use the mobile app on a Samsung tablet and Chromecast. It works well.

35 yrds*

One positive was Jack Doyle, 3 catches for 3yrds and 2 TD's... Fleener? 1 catch for 6 yards.
-
This team has some issues after yesterday's game. The passing game however, is not one of those issues.
-
Building something slightly above average would be fantastic.

Just re-watching the Titans game right now. At about 6:35 in the second qtr Luck gets blind sided on third down. He appears to tuck the ball with his left arm and puts his right arm out to brace the fall. Looks like an awkward landing... that's my guess as too which play the injury took place.
It was Orakpo beating Costanzo untouched on that play. But Costanzo appears to pick Luck up off the turf by his right arm immediately afterward so.. maybe not the play lol

He's the best of a bad lot, I will give you that. However I hope we move on from Walden (among several other LBer's) next year.
