  1. Can I pose the question differently? What do you think Grigson is up to?  Given his horrible FA

signing experience, and hopefully knowing the OL needs a serious upgrade, he must know that the solution is in the draft.  Or am I giving him too much credit?

If you are a colts fan,   why would you not be optimistic about the team moving forward?

Were you optimistic this time last year when we signed a bunch of over-the-hill  re-treads instead of filling the gaping holes on the OL that led to Luck's season ending injury?  Well at this point all you have to be optimistic about is that Luck is hopefully healthy, because except for a part time Gore all those re-treads are either gone or on the bench.  I'm a fan from 1958 who is a realist.

Do you think they'll fix their mistakes, and take the colts into the right direction?

NO. In the absence of FA signings that are needed to address the needs of the OL & DL, Grigson is all but admitting he is clueless or just gun shy after the past two years of horrendous wastes of cap money on re-treads.

So we have to hope we can make some smart draft decisions.  Is anyone confident Grigson can suddenly see the light?  Color me NO.

  4. You are mistaking negativity with reality.  Remember this time last year when Grigson was signing all those over

the hill FAs and drafted another receiver instead of a stud OL to protect luck who then got beat up..  We were making plans to go to San Francisco.  We were thinking positively.... through rose-colored glasses.  We don't have the talent to get to the SB, we  have a GM who is clueless about the true needs of the team and that's not being negative, it's being realistic about our talent and our chances. It is clear that we don't have the

organization (Irsay, Grigson, Pagano) in place to get us back to the SB this year and that's reality.

There are a lot of negative comments being made about this team lately, let's look at some of the positive notes on the Colts Roster.

    1. Arguably the best up and coming QB in the league, improving every year

    2. One of the best shutdown corners in the NFL in Vontae Davis

    3. A couple of young studs on the defensive line in Parry and Anderson.

    4. Kendall Langford is a really bright spot on our defense.

    5. As a note on the above two, with the addition of Art Jones and Zach Kerr (who was ranked very highly by PFF) our Defensive line rotation is starting to look really good.

    6. No Pep Hamilton

    7. No Greg Manusky.

    What else?

  6. You're not serious are you?  The sky has fallen!  History doesn't matter.  I can cite statistics that could get us into the next SB, but that is not where we are TODAY.  This is a bad football team that has a clueless GM and a mediocre coaching staff and more critically a team with players who wouldn't be backups on any of the play-off teams, all  due to Grigson.  Who cares how we are doing against the poor records of other teams.  After Luck, Hilton, Moncrief and maybe a few untested newcomers, this team needs a complete do over and Grigson and the "structure" aren't close to the solution.  Sorry, but I saw one SB win with 13 years of Peyton and now I'm seeing Luck's career going down in flames if we continue on this path of signing over the hill FAs and Werner/T-Rich number one Drafts.

Guys there has been nothing but OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!!  Posts lately. It's getting old. We have missed the playoffs ONCE since Pagano and Grigson took over. How is this an issue? Most teams fans would kill for results like we have been getting. There are only 5 Teams that have been more successful then us over the last four years. We are also tied with another team for making the playoffs, so that means we are better then 25 Teams in the grigson Era. How is this terrible??

Yes I get that grigson had done stupid things, but so has every gm.

Do we have holes to fill? Absolutely.  But we are going about this the smart way. We only have so much money this offseason, and a TON next year. As far as I can tell the front office is gearing up for a HUGE offseason next year. We will have a lot of our core talent locked up by then, plus we will have 72 million to spend, as well as a few comp picks for what we lost this year. Add in our draft this year and next year,  and we can be set for a long time. Teams like Seattle, NE,  GB and Baltimore have had their success because they run their teams like this every year. You almost never see these teams make big deals in free agency,  especially day one. Teams that make big free agent splashes are perennial losers like Oakland and Dallas.  I'd rather bank on the strategy that NE uses over Dallas.

Am I convinced grigson will make proper decisions when the time comes? Absolutely not. He has not proven he can make good draft picks or good decisions for free agents. BUT I see that the structure of the team is changing. This is a group effort now, and Grigson isn't going to have as much say as he did.

I really think we all need to take a step back and think about how our team is doing in relation to the league and realize that things could be way worse. Calm down, actually wait and see what this new structure is going to do. At least wait til the draft is over before we start claiming we are getting the first pick in next year's draft. For a team this successful, we shouldn't have so much negatively from our fans.

Why is it that at this point in the off season with the "good free agents" off the board, feel it's no big deal the Colts have done nothing? Several of u disagreed with my statement in other posts in regards to the afc south. As it sits currently we would easily be 3rd in the division.  Jacksonville has helped thier defense quite a bit and I'm sure they will add a cb yet, plus they added Chris ivory. This team killed us last year (so what luck was out,we couldn't stop them) and if they had a kicker they beat us twice. Houston now has a decent qb (no more hoyer the turnover machine),they add a great back in Miller who doesn't get hurt and was under utilized in Miami or his numbers would been better, plus few other pieces they signed with an already great defense, they did beat us last year. All we did is resign a few that could of went either way, signed a backup qb,and lost several that could of went either way. What been done to help the oline? Luck is no longer injury proof and who is to say this team with be on the same page all year, they were nowhere near that last year. My opinions anyway.

  10. Let me tell you who I don't want, making the decisions. GRIGSON!  Now that his big FA signing was cut Andre the Giant, he will probably draft or sign a Wide Receiver and brag about it.  Truly a clueless GM who in a little over three years has made the Colts a mediocre, very old (oldest in the NFL) team with his ridiculous FA signings and really bad draft picks, with the exception of Luck & Hilton.  All these speculations about who we need and who is available are a waste of time and space.  Grigson will make the same ridiculous mistakes because he is clueless and has wasted cap money, and with no offensive line talent has put his only worthwhile draft choice in danger of having  less than the promising career we had hoped for.

Don't blame Grigson, blame the Bills when they gave Charles Clay that ridiculous contract.

They set the market for average to above average tight ends. Grigs had to overpay one of them. Allen is the better player.

    End of story.

  12. Wow, where do I start on this post.  Good with money?  In ONE YEAR, he made the Colts the OLDEST team in the league!!!!.  Most of HIS FA signings will be gone before the season starts.  Aside from Luck & Hilton, his drafts are not making the team any better (evidenced by the record and the  O & D stats).  We had the top three cap dollars before last season's FA signings, and now we're near the bottom.  Please define for me what a "good" contact to an overpaid, over the hill, poor performing FA consists of.  I really need to hear this one.

In fact,  Grigson is great with money.    It's one of his better qualities.

In case you haven't noticed the Colts have been one of the most active teams in free agency for the last three years.

Where Grigson is poor is WHO he gives the money to.      But his contracts are built so that the Colts can get out of them quickly without too much damage to the team.     The Colts are not like many, many other teams that end up in salary cap heck for years.     Like the Ravens,  like the Saints,  like the Cowboys and too many other teams to count.

It's not that Grigson gives out bad contracts.     His contracts are often going out to the wrong players....    and there's a difference....

  14. I will say it again. Grigson is over his head and is incompetent. I live in NY so I only get ESPN briefs.  So is he talking in broad terms what the most pressing needs are?  The specific cuts that are needed only make sense when you understand his strategy for addressing the needs of team.

  15. 1 hour ago, Jason_S said:

nope...to pretty much all of that, especially this "now much older" thing which is getting to the point of being comically overblown.

OK Jason, what is either inaccurate or overblown?  We are the OLDEST team in the league, so much for building a franchise, and for every one decent FA or draft signings by Grigson, there are four or five really bad ones.

  16. Not only is the roster worse it is now much older.  The future with Luck is in great jeopardy if Grigson continues to make the same dumb, uninformed, expensive FA signings and does not correctly address the real needs of the team in the draft.  I am not optimistic he can or will change his approach.

Why would you cut the most productive RB that this franchise has seen in quite some time?

Simple. He's got one maybe 2 good years.  Not since Addai, and for all too short a time, has the RB position been anything to feel good about.  So the "most productive RB that this franchise has seen in quite some time" is not saying much for the position.
