I don’t think pitman should get #1wr money and if he does, let another team pay him. I don’t agree with the we need another #1wr, did Houston have two yesterday? It’s the qb, not the wr’s! If he signs for reasonable contract wr isn’t a top priority. The worst part of the defense is lb and should draft two in the upper rounds depending on who is available. A dual purpose te is needed in the upper rounds also. That would help the passing and rushing game. A lot of good wr’s come out every year and the colts could get one in the middle rounds. I think the d-line is ok and would look better with a more aggressive defense. I don’t want minshew back as qb and saving a lot of money, so a qb in the middle rounds is a must. I think I would rather have ehlinger, they must see something in him if they have kept him around this long.

Our defense against the pass is terrible.

Against a competent pass def, this will be a problem for them. Watch Stroud struggle against the Browns next weekend because they WILL take Collins away.

  2. Of course a large swathe of the NFL Landscape could change by next season, but that Home schedule looks a bit savage.

Dolphins and Bills will be very tough.
Steelers and Lions will be tough.
Bears have been on the rise, and will have some top top picks in the upcoming draft.

As for the away opponents, Jets with A-Rod might be a totally different beast next season, The Packers were on the upswing too, and the Vikings will have Cousins back.

Not as "easy" as this season on paper, but we should be better too with AR back, and continuing to develop (we all hope).

Should be a good season to watch, when we finally get there.

In the meantime, these playoffs this year should be interesting. I'm expecting a Ravens - 9ers rematch of the 2013 Superbowl.

There is an odd team from Indy,

They bend like a tree when it’s windy,

Yet they’re somehow a game from the Wild Card fame,

This team causes stress deep within me.

That horse team from old Indiana,

Frank stunk like a rotten banana,

Went from Hines up the gut, now with Shane gold is struck,

Beat the Texans or trade cleats for pajamas.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

I understand it’s unbelievably difficult to find a solid starter on the offensive line look how so many teams have taken lineman that never panned out I’m not dumping on Friedland, I just think that the line could be better.

There are 31 other teams who all think their lines could be better though.

You are right, OL is incredibly hard to find 5 top of the line starters on, that makes it even harder to say that Freeland won't ever be a starter though?

And look at how dire our OL situation at tackle was just a couple of years ago and compare that to Freeland's play, AND factor in that he is a rookie.... I think he's doing incredibly well all things considered.

I don’t feel Freeland will ever be a starting caliber OT. Smith has been good but I would to see him get better in pass coverage. LT looks solid as he gets better as the season has gone along. I just wish RG will improve with a new player

Can you elaborate on why you think this after less than a year into his career, when he hasnt started every game and was drafted to be backup for a while at least?

I'm not completely dumping on your opinion here, I'm just curious as to what has you thinking this 14 games into his career to be this sure as to say that he won't ever be a starting caliber OT.

  6. Way too soon and way too harsh.

I know we all know Frank's shortcomings, but wow that is just a ridiculously heavy handed approach. How could he be expected to implement anything meaningful in such a short time - especially if the rumors are true that he wanted Stroud originally.

I hopw he lands as an OC somewhere or even another HC job.

I didn’t forget I just don’t think it’s that significant. There may be some effect but Minshew doesn’t do anything you need special prep for.    If you went from prepping for GM and then to AR, that would be much more significant IMO.

But the Shew didn’t get to prep for the D either with 1st team reps.  Did you convenient forget that lol?

If the defense preparing for an entirely different style of offense and quarterback is irrelevant (which it's not btw), then the backup QB preparing for the same defense as the starting QB (just not with the 1s) is even less relevant (or significant) of an argument to make, so not sure what point you were trying to make there my dude. This is especially when Minshew has multiple years of experience with Steichen's offense.

I don't think Minshew is as bad as his performance against the Jags last Sunday, but we are most definitely not better off or more likely to win with him under center compared to Richardson. The offense just becomes so much more limited and 1 dimensional with him back there, and defences know it.

Yeah, but really?  AR left with a 7 points lead v. Hou and we won by 11 and he left with a 4 point lead v. Tenn and we won by 7 so looking at it from your logic, Minshew increased the leads he was left with both times.  Plus you are talking Minshew coming in during the 1st Q or early 2nd Q.

Minshew played around 6 of the 8 Qs in those two wins.   The lion's share of the work in both of those wins was from GM.

i notice how you rather conveniently left out part of my comment which covered how those teams had prepared for richardson during the week.

Then we get the team that prepared for Minshew, and they demolished him.

I think the perception that Minshew gives us a better chance to win games is massively incorrect. He has taken over from Richardson in winning positions twice now to close out the game. And opposing defenses were preparing for Richardson all week instead of Minshew for all 3 games Minshew has played in and won.

Yeah we beat the Ravens with him, but that game was crazy and by all rights we shouldnt really have won that game. It just became who wanted to lose more by the end of it.

I do think Minshew is good enough to keep us in games, but not necessarily win them. We are going to need performances like Moss had last week to win games with Minshew at QB. So he can keep you afloat, but other players on the team need to step up big time to win it.

I think we should be able to get to Richardson returning after the bye week at least with a 5 - 5 record, which would keep us relevant. This Jags game is huge though, we need to remove that tie breaker head to head win they have on us, and its a division game too obvs....

This game isnt over yet, but my bolded is looking pretty spot on atm.

I think the more Minshew plays….develops timing with his team….the better he will get. I think we will really get rolling on both sides of the ball…… I think this team is going to catch fire…..

oh we're catching on fire atm in this game... just not in the good way.

Because with a two way tie it’s head to head. If Texans had won last week and it was a 3 way tie then colts would be ahead. Because then it’s divisional wins.

    Ooooooh, this makes sense.

Thank you for explaining that to the dummy.

  11. Not so much related to this game per sé, but why arent the Colts in first place in the AFC South?

We were after week 2 or 3 when Jax had the head to head win over us at that point.... so why arent we now? We have the better divisional win/loss, we have a better conference win/loss, we have better net points, so what gives?

They must have had it wrong earlier in the season, right? Because head-to-head is supposed to be the first tie breaker, right?

How many games has AR won? How games has Minshew won, when he played all or most of the game?

He took over with a 14 point lead against the texans who were BAD at the time and hadn't woken up.

And he beat the Ravens, but we were mostly healthy as a team and our Oline was healthy too. Minshew had time to throw and still was checking down.

AR lost by a hair to the Jags in his first NFL game, and then lost to the rams and Aaron donald (who are a good team) by a hair, in his 2nd NFL game... and with key OL members out.

    Quit trolling.

A looooot of question dodging obviously about the contract / trade request situation.

Short of addressing that head on and saying "you got me, i was trying to get paid." I thought he handled it about as well as he could have.

I do think he still has an eye and a foot out the door, but he knows he needs to show other teams that A) he is healthy and still JT from a football production standpoint, and B) he isn't going to be a distraction in the locker room.

All we can hope is that he balls out this season, has a lot of fun doing that so that he actually may want to stay, and that the Colts and he can agree on a contract that both sides are happy with.

This really sucks.  He was quietly playing really well.

He’s the one who came in when Flowers got hurt Sunday.

Baker was a healthy scratch for the game, he will at least be on the bench and rotating in now I would have thought.

Jaylon will get a shot to show what he can do though. If he can play well enough, I would imagine that he could keep Baker on the bench. Just a lot to ask of a late round rookie.

Team has been actually looking prepared and makes adjustments unlike last few years

I agree with you for the most part, but we literally just witnessed the team completely fall on their face for the entire first half and half of the 3rd quarter in the last game they played. They were not ready for the Rams, at all.

The adjustments were great to see, but lets call last game what it was and not gloss over it.

As a whole, i do agree the team has looked more prepared than last year or even the previous 5 years, but last game was not the example of that.

It hurt us here, but I'm fine with them. You get a chance to tie if you stop them or hold them to a FG. The defending team shouldn't be given another chance if they allow a TD. I'm saying that as a Colts fan that lost this game.

I dunno man, the NFL OT rules are hard to stomach. Its like literally the only sport in the world that doesnt play the entire allocated time when it goes into overtime.... literally why?

It's so dumb to potentially leave the result of the game down to a coin toss..

Stroud is going to win rookie of the year. Another 300 yard game today. He looks really good.

If we had won this game today, people would have their hair on fire about Richardson after the comeback. Anthony has a chance still. If we win this division, how can you not give it to him... lets see how it all plays out before we crown anyone.

He had a bad game for sure. He's got this year to prove that he isn't capped in regards to his recovery. If he is, then the Colts probably move on from him this off-season.

This, we will see how he goes over the course of the season, if he is still playing as he is now by the end of the season, we will move on. I will hold out hope that by the end of the season we will see some improvement.

Otherwise, we move on. It makes sense to wait and see.
