  1. Thanks for sharing.

From what I understand of your post above, you are a Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Marvin Harrison, and Bob Sanders fan.

What happened when Marvin Harrison left the Colts? Did you become less of a Colts fan?

What will happen when all of them leave the Colts? Will you still remain a Colts fan?

Yes, the team is comprised of its players. However, no one player, or even a set of players are bigger than the team.

The Colts existed before any of the players you mentioned were born, and the Colts will continue to exist way after they retire.

A true Colts fan understands this, and will not work against the team in favor of any one player on the team.

I'll put it a little more clearly. Peyton Manning is the only reason I became a fan of the colts. That's how I got to liking players like Harrison, Wayne, Freeney, Sanders, and other guys as well. I will only be a colts fan after Peyton retires if they don't mess up the rest of his career. If they get rid of him, in favor of a talented rookie quarterback, when they have the chance to load this team with top notch talent and players, I will not be happy at all. The same goes for guys like Freeney and Mathis, but on a more minor level. The colts tried to retain Harrison, but he just didn't want to take a paycut. In fact Bill Polian tried several times to negotiate with him. Even though it didn't work out, they showed the compassion and respect that the players deserve. It ticks me off sometimes when I see a random post with someone wanting to trade Freeney for a 1st rounder, or accusing Wayne of being a greedy player who only is in it for the money, basically saying that we can't resign him because he will want to much, even though it has been proven otherwise. The same goes for Robert Mathis. Winning without all the guys that made it fun in the 1st place is just not the same.

  2. http://www.cbssports...4/michael-egnew

He is a perfect round 4 or round 5 TE that could replace Tamme and have more upside, IMO.

Well, if you've seen any of my mock drafts over the past month or so, you'll notice that I've always had a spot open for him in the 5th round!

I like him because he is big and athletic with a lot of potential. He's 6'5"- 6'6" and 245-251 lbs. He was an All-American his junior year at Missouri, but his production dropped off some last year, probably because of a new quarterback and their offense relying on him less. Egnew was more of a receiving TE in college, but he has pretty good size so maybe he can develop into a solid blocker. He can be a quality backup behind Dallas Clark with Jacob Tamme and Brody Eldridge next year.

  3. I know you don't mind that scenario. However, I think I would rather have the Colts make their decisions with all the options that they have available. I doubt very much the Colts would appreciate any of their fans to remove any of their options. That would be working against the Colts, and I doubt any true fan of the Colts would want to do that.

I've been wanting to post something about this for a while, but how can you actually be a fan of a team just because of it's geography. You don't go to games to watch Jim Irsay's team play, you go to watch the colts players play, guys like Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Marvin Harrison, and Bob Sanders a few years ago. That's how you get close to a team, is by getting to know and love the players. I don't like the colts because they are situated in Indianapolis, Indiana, I like them because my favorite players play there. Peyton Manning is the only reason I ever became a colts fan. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Terrel Suggs are the only reasons I became a fan of the Raven's, mainly because of their defense.

That's a big reason why I consider getting rid of Peyton Manning and drafting Andrew Luck to be working against the colts, I didn't think any true colts fan would want to do that.

  4. Castonzo off the top of my head was the best tackle taken in last years draft. I see no reason why the Colts would take MK. Also what is concerning here is you say not to draft a QB then draft one in the 3rd? Why not take Luck with #1 overall if you're going to draft a worse QB in the 3rd?

Also what makes MK a sure thing? Why not Luck?

I wouldn't call either player a sure thing, but they are both very good prospects.

  5. Dude, NO!!!!! We cannot pass on Luck for a OT when we already have our LT in Costanzo. Luck is the type of QB who makes his OL look better than they are too so we dont necessarily need a Jake Long type of LT.

And Im not a fan of the rest of your draft either. We could get Chapman in the 3rd or later, and the other guys are reaches too. Would MUCH rather have Andrew Luck over Nick Foles.

You just completely made up that statement...

  6. For obvious reasons, I think that it does not benefit the Colts to have its fans disrespect a draft prospect that the Colts are considering with the #1 overall pick.

For obvious reasons, it is not in the best interest of the Colts to have their fans claim "Who needs Luck when we have Manning" such that it provides any impetus to Luck to provide an Eli-Manning-like statement to the Colts, thereby eliminating an option that the Colts might want to take.

Since you know that I want the colts to trade the #1 pick, I don't mind that scenario. Andrew Luck nor his father might not want to be put in this situation, regardless if the fans want him or not.

  7. Nobody has to respect Luck! He has done

Nothing in the NFL! He is not a member of the colts. Nobody has to respect him. What is the premis of such a blog, obviously how much you like luck and that's ok, but you are beyond a manning basher.

For some reason Frog thinks that Andrew Luck is a member of the Indianapolis colts, that's why he thinks it's disrespectful when people don't want him over other scenarios.

  8. You have a right to your beliefs. Far be it for me to attempt to convince you otherwise.

I try not to comment on reports from people who do not quote Irsay or Manning in this matter. To me, it is all spin and gossip until I hear quotes from either Manning or Irsay or Condon or the docs, trainers, and coaches that oversee Manning's rehab.

No excuses necessary, I accept your apology.

I would think that Bill Polian knew far more about Peyton Manning's recovery than Jim Irsay did until he was fired.

  9. How is the potential that Mr. Irsay may be lying change the fact that :

    1) Irsay has said that he will be using the #1 overall pick on a QB, either Luck or RG3

He either said it or he didn't. What do you think he said? Don't try to twist the facts. The fact is that Mr. Irsay did indeed say exactly what I stated he said above.

Know, he didn't say that, your the one twisting his words.

Mr. Irsay said “With Griffin and Luck and the way it’s shaping up at the top of the draft — could very likely go one and two like with Peyton and Ryan Leaf,” Irsay said. “It’s most likely one of those quarterbacks that you really feel is the best player in the draft, and where we’re at moving forward you can’t pass that up. I don’t think anyone would expect that.”

  10. It proves

    1) Irsay has said that he will be using the #1 overall pick on a QB, either Luck or RG3.

Got any other objections to the facts I have presented?

I already have seen that before, but it still doesn't mean anything. Your telling me that people don't lie or change their minds?

  11. That's right, we can wait until many years down the line. PM is not getting older. PM's arm strength and nerve regeneration are not issues. We can easily do many seasons with the Painter/Collins/Orlovsky plan. Look how well it worked for us last season.

This response doesn't make any since... I really don't know what to say, I guess we could use Painter, Collins, and Orlovsky again, or we could draft a quarterback like maybe Tyler Wilson or Tyler Bray in the future.

    Source: http://profootballta...ton-is-healthy/

Yeah, but that doesn't really prove anything.

  13. Ahhh...no

What would likely happen in that scenario is that Washington, Miami, or Seattle would jump in there and get RGIII which would leave us >>>ed when Peyton is ready to call it quits or if he seems ready to go and then ends up getting hurt or regressing and can't go. We're back to Orlovsky.

I like Kirkpatrick, love Sanu, and even like Crick...no beef with those picks. Green I'm not so hot on at TE because I think he will be overwhelmed in pass protection and in the run game...he is more-a-less a big receiver. I'm more in favor of the Witten type of TE's and Green is about 30lbs too light for that.

Wilson is promising but don't expect him to be great for at least a year...maybe two.

There are drafts in the future as well, not just 2012. We can draft a QB next year, the year after, the year after that, and so on.

  14. OK. I'm game, what do you dispute?

    1) Irsay has said that he will be using the #1 overall pick on a QB, either Luck or RG3.

    2) Whether the Colts draft Luck or not, it will have no effect on how fast PM recovers his arm strength.

...Did you not read the #1?

  15. I think we need to agree on a couple of facts:

    1) Irsay has said that he will be using the #1 overall pick on a QB, either Luck or RG3.

    2) Whether the Colts draft Luck or not, it will have no effect on how fast PM recovers his arm strength.

If you see the above 2 things as fact, you might want to explain to me how supporting the sentiment "Who needs Luck when we have Manning" helps the Colts?

    a) does it help the Colts by disrespecting a highly-rated draft prospect that the Colts are considering using their #1 pick to draft?

    b) does it help the Colts by welcoming Luck this way, if the Colts pick him as their QB of the future?

    c) does it help the Colts by attempting to get Luck to do an Eli-Manning on the Colts?

Can you find another way to show support for your preferred QB, without disrespecting someone who has done nothing to you or the team?

I have a beef with anyone who buys these shirts to support such a sentiment. Before this came out, I had thought that the Colts fans were above this sort of nonsense.

Sorry, but #1 is not a fact as you seem to think.

And this is a weird post. You have beef with someone wanting Peyton Manning over Andrew Luck?????????????????????? Give me a break...

  16. Outside the Dolphins, the Cardinals make the most sense - play the Rams twice in a dome, play the 49ers twice in warm weather, play the Seahawks once in warm weather and while playing the NFC North, both the Lions & Vikes play in domes, and while playing the NFC South, Bucs play in warm weather while the Saints & Falcons play in domes.

To me, the Cardinals make more sense w.r.t warm weather conditions.

I don't know about you, but I don't think basing your future career on just the weather is a good idea hahah.

  17. There are only 2 other teams that I would want Peyton Manning to play for, the Ravens and the Texan's. It helps that they are my 2 favorite teams behind the colts, plus they both have great teams. The Texan's have Matt Shaub who is a very good quarterback, and the Raven's have Joe Flacco, who was okay this year, and played decently in the playoffs.

I do not want the colts to get rid of Peyton Manning at all though, and would be angry if they did. It would be awesome if the Raven's could win the Super Bowl with the colts best player probably of all time, and maybe even the whole league. How great would that be for Raven's fans.

  18. I disagree.. He got paid 26 million last year for not playing at all. And if he gets his 28 million roster bonus, that will make 54 million, no plays, and no guarantees that he ever will. Just hope. Even if he's released, he is owed nothing more IMO. He's been compensated for his play, and even for not playing... handsomely.

If you're going to think about it like that, then your getting a great deal on the last few years of his contract. That's why he gets paid in a contract. The only reason he gets $28 million dollar roster bonuses is because it helps the colts against the cap. He could have made the deal where he got $18 million dollars flat every year for 5 years, but that wouldn't be very helpful to the colts cap space.

It's really annoying when people say things like this... they see a big number, and then act like he is getting overpaid... Just think about it like he gets paid the same amount every year if he finishes his contract, because in actuality, he is getting paid the same amount every year.
