  1. Those who think CB is criminally negligent stocking out OL with talent....looks round the league today.  Heck, start with our opponent.... the OL talent in this league that is starter level plus is paper thin.... it's not just a Colts phenomena.  Sure, Philly has an amazing OL.  So did we three years ago.... college isn't producing the plug n play OL like in the past..... every team is super thin really.

Rb’s don’t make big bucks when you compare them to quarterbacks, wide receivers, edge rushers, tackles and cornerbacks to name a few obvious positions.  An elite player at those positions make significantly more.  Even above average players do.  They are the one’s getting paid.  Not running backs.  Running backs are far down the list.  I don’t see any problem paying an elite running back a top contract for the position.  That’s not shooting your self in the foot.   You’re shootings your self in the foot when your quarterback and line don’t perform for the money they’re getting paid.  That’s when you’re in trouble.  I hope we can find a way to keep JT.  He’s a game changer.  We are lucky to have him.  I personally don’t want to lose him over a 13 or 14m a year contract.  That would be a shame imo.

I see what you are saying, and so what agree in principle.  I think it aligns with Ballard actions over the past six years whether a coincidence or not..... acquire and keep premium players at the less premium positions.  Sounds weird, but things like a top end RB have cost a lot less than a top level WR...same with OG vs OT,  LB vs edge, etc.....now, whether that is prudent team building strategy or not is an entirely different conversation.

Colts know exactly how healthy JT is currently, he's practicing in the facility and there was already a rumor that they were going to have physical in the previous week.

Fans won't know, but that doesn't mean that Colts don't know how healthy JT is.

The money Colts and JT eventually would finalize if he were to re-sign would be totally worth for what he'd bring to the field, as he's still young enough to play at elite level through this contract extension.

Now, if Colts end up paying Pittman 20+ million just because they can't draft another good receiver, that'd be totally NOT worth it for the value you're talking about.

JT is young in years only..... that body has absorbed more punishment than any RB in the league over the last six years.

I'm new but been going way back reading threads. Ole Moose puts out some good points but some are just flat out hilarious and hard to get mad at cause I don't know if he is actually serious or not..haha

Oh, stick around a while.  It becomes a LOT less hilarious.

A tight budget and very high draft picks in 24. Simple, and appropriate. Yet incomprehensible by many couch GM's.

Going 8-9, 9-8 year after year stinks.

We need top talent. Draft, develop, and hopefully hit big enough there you can splurge on the needed pieces through Trade or FA that gives the Team a great shot at a SB.

We are young and unproven throughout our roster. We ARE far from a contender, so we plan for the future.

This is t the NBA.  One or two high draft picks don't make much difference for a while..... you can do the same thing in FA, we don't do that either lol

I'll admit I never understood handing Will Fries the starting RG spot without bringing in a veteran to push and compete with him. Chris Ballard did the same thing last season with Pryor and Pinter and look what happened. The depth behind the starters in the trenches is by far the worst in the league and the Colts are 1-2 injuries away from repeating 2022 all over again with how terrible the line played.

It's not "by far" the worst in the league.  This shows me you haven't truly looked at OL depth around the league.

It may be the worst.....it's certainly not good.  If it is, it isn't "by far" though.  OL depth sucks in the entire league.  OL play overall is subpar in the NFL as a whole.

Well DarShaqius played and played pretty well.  My earlier prediction fell though.

Pardon me while I pick these feathers from my teeth.  Yum yum.

I'm glad to wash down some crow this morning.   It's early yet and there's more in the oven in case he keeps on this track though

I support players holding out if they do not think they are being paid their value for so long as teams can unilaterally void a contract by cutting said player.

however, jt has done this terribly and caused unnecessary drama.  Calling out the club and ownership publicly is a mistake.  I think it has damaged his reputation and that he didn’t consider this fully.

I now wonder if his first agent created his prior public persona and coached him into saying all the right things or if this new management is coaching the other way to say all the wrong things.  Or if one of those is his true nature.

either way he has lost me and doing what he has done I believe is very short sighted.  He should have had a silent hold out. I think he will lose endorsement deals from how this has played out.  I guess it will depend on what he says after this is sorted out.

    Lose endorsement deals?

For WHAT? Oh no .... no more offers from. wicks pies or Sam's do it best hardware?

No one of consequence is denying him any endorsement deals the second he starts ripping off TD runs again....and certainly not for any eschewing of "down - homey, Midwestern values" by Taylor or his team....

What you and many don't realize we aren't trading him unless we get a bunch in return. Taylor has no control over anything because we can franchise tag him if he wants to leave at the end of the season.

Yep. He basically has to decide to either A.... play football in the NFL for a butt load of money....albeit several butt loads less than many of his peers, or B..... go back to school and then try and work his way up to a senior position in Astrophysics so he can eventually make a few hundred k a year.
