Again, I’m NOT predicting this….   I’m just not ruling anything out.

I think part of the equation would be where do the Colts pick?   If the Colts are out of the top-10 then I don’t think it would happen.  I don’t see Ballard trading up in the first round.   But if the season somehow goes south and the Colts are picking around 5-8, then I think maybe it could happen so Ballard could trade down a little and still take a top player in what looks like a very good draft.

As for trading a top talent like Smith….  You have to trade talent in order to get high draft capital.   Smith could bring that.  Moving Raimann would be easy, and there are two premium LT in this class, so I wouldn’t rule it out.   It would allow the Colts to re-set the organization more to Steichen’s liking.   Are there other good vets that the Colts could trade and bring good draft capital?  In 24, I’m thinking Smith and Kelly.   In 25, it’s not clear, at least not to me.

Did I mention I’m NOT predicting this?   I’m just thinking out loud about what I think COULD happen in Feb or March.

    Hope that clarifies….

You aren't trading down from 5-8 and then landing a premium OT.  You definitely aren't trading one of the better young RT in the league to take a CHANCE at both OT positions....and possibly making both worse.

Wow.  Did you see that in an article?

    are there concussion stats somewhere?

Pickett most likely either had a supremely mild concussion, or never had a concussion to begin with.

We are witnessing a massive overcorrection by the league in regard to handling concussions due to the negative press and lawsuits.  It's not a bad thing, at all.  It's just a much more severe correction than we would have seen in any other circumstances

I did not love the call to do for it on 4th and 7. What would that FG have been? Even with the earlier miss I would have probably taken that over the 4th down attempt. It just wasn’t the right call there at that time for me.

Going for it on fourth down seems to be the new norm in the NFL.... almost regardless of the situation.

It’s hard watching him play lately. He’s out of position on most plays. He’s thinking too much and not just playing.

It's been that time for a year or so.....  I hate it, cause Leonard was so much fun to watch.  In Indy, when we get special players not named Manning or Miller, there's a law of nature stating they have to flame out quick.

Feel like LA is gonna move Donald around on the line. May have to use a lot of TE blocking and doubles.

So you feel like LA is going to use Donald the same way they've used him every game for years now?  Probably dead on.

  6. Bigger story here is R. Kelly.  I think he's done after this year.  He will either retire, or get released.  Seven + games missed over last 1.25 seasons is pretty bad, and he'll just be more likely to get them going forward.  If they keep him, it should be for substantially less ....

Who are the FA OC next year?  Any great interior OL that are Jr/Sr in college??

I want to thank you sir for not coming to Indy you would have been fired by now

So we'd be in the same spot?  I mean.... who knows what would have been different, but....the guy we hired instead had been fired since..... so Steichen could very well have still been out 2023/24 coach.

Oops at first I thought you were calling him a traitor. Lmao my bad..He wants more money cause his position is used the most behind the QB and injuries can take there careers away on any play. Yes just like any other player. Players that touch and have the ball the most and take like car injury accidents will be injured the most and have shorter careers. IMO So JT wants more money for doing nothing his whole life but train for the NFL and get paid like a PRO.... Colts should give him a legit contract offer and see where it goes from there. I'm not saying he is CMC money but he deserves a legit offer for what he has done for this team... JMO

Why now?  He is literally signed to a "legit contract offer" this very second.

Hopefully he starts practicing sooner rather than later, because he hasn't had a single practice under the new offense so he may not play for a couple weeks due to that. A good example is Brents who was injured during camp and missed two weeks just to learn and catch up.

Yeah, running backs can walk in and play.  It's plug and play.  Always has been, that's part of the reason they are so replaceable.  The drop off from JT to Moss is big....no doubt, but not like the drop from starting.....any other position to the backup.  He k, street FA can come in and be serviceable RB in a couple days.  JT could practice once or twice and play on Sun. Just fine, assuming he's actually been conditioning and healthy this whole time.  (Hint, he has)

I can.  We had Jacksonville in our grasp as well.  This team has a lot of talent and is very capable of winning a lot of games.  This rebuilding talk is nonsense.  We can play with anybody.  Improved coaching is already making a difference.  Our new free agent additions are contributing significantly.  I’m sure the players are focused on winning the division and making the playoffs as we should be.  I don’t view this year as a developmental year.  I think it could easily be a playoff year.

I've been trying to tell anyone who would listen all off-season ...  this team is loaded with past all pros and probowlers.....they didn't forget how to play football ..lol

Yes I belive the weather condition is why he was short. It was right down the middle though and I thought he made it from the original camera angle. We really don't know how much the extra weight on the ball because it was wet and the extra resistance while it was in the air affected the distance

We really DO know how much the extra weight on the ball from rain factored in.... not at all.

The drag from rain in the air?  Unless it was actively raining sheets, almost nothing.

Kicking an ice cold ball is a lot harder than kicking a wet rainy one.  Freezing temps make it akin to kicking a brick.

Get him and we're SB bound! :P

Really, I don't see the sense of working out players like this....

If you want to put pressure on taylor, you need at least get someone like Robinson or Fournette to work out or sign.

That's not what this is.  This is on the heels of Hull being ruled out for the season, and in case we need to replace or add an end of bench RB.....

Since we only have 4 WR on the roster I bet we keep all five. Winfree was already called up twice so not sure what will happen with him. But Mallory and Granson are basically WR. I’d Taylor plays in a couple weeks room will have to be made for him too. So it could get interesting.

They could decide to just keep woods on IR the whole season too.

Taylor takes Deions Jackson or Funks spot, that's easy

Good video here how Tepper got too involved in the quarterback process for panthers during the draft.

I haven't watched Florio for years.....but....did he really just whine that NFL teams are being basically "mean" when they trade up to take a guy??!?  Then he blamed trading up for a player partially on that player failing?!?

All of what you’re saying might be true but does that make Reggie an alpha dog WR1?  No it doesn’t.  Maybe I need to define WR1.  A WR1 is a player who can do things very well in all facets of being a wide receiver (maybe besides blocking).  That means they have good hands, good route running, good downfield presence (which includes speed and ability to separate downfield).  not just one or two of those things.

those are things you need to be an alpha WR.  Being an alpha WR means that you command so much attention, the defense needs to know where you are at all times because any play you can break them for a touchdown or huge gain.  Now I love Pittman, but he’s not that.  Yeah, the defense can adjust to him but they don’t have to change the entire defense which allows them to do what they want.  Like let’s be real, the jags stacked the box pretty much the entire game and we could not beat them deep not once.  I’m sorry, his stats do look good, but it isn’t the entire story.

I hope we keep him because he’s a VERY good WR2 but I also hope we go out and get a MHJ or an alpha receiver in FA or trade.  Idk, maybe Pierce will wake up and be our deep threat so Pittman doesn’t have to beat teams deep.  Who knows.

Good definition.... but it's still just YOUR definition.
