Then that's the coaches fault for not changing the protection and double teaming miller

How does that let Reitz off the hook?  I mean, sure, they should have noticed that he was getting whipped all game and made an adjustment to mitigate that.

But these are not mutually exclusive things.  Reitz is still not good enough to be a starting lineman in the NFL, whether they should've chipped on VM or not.

It's not like people are complaining about him just because he got humiliated by the best DE in the league.  He was bad before today.  He's never even been average.  And yet, he's still on our roster and still starting.

There's not a single person playing pro bowl caliber on this team.

    Vinatieri is about it.

Kerr's been playing well.  Mike Adams seems pretty active, too.  But as for just about everybody else...it's been a drag to watch so far.

I could see Pags giving him massive props, "Joe has that grit and toughness, he's like a robotic mechanical death bull with flaming eyes.  Denver did well, it's SOOO SOOO so hard to win in the NFL."

That's how he talked about Trent Richardson, too -- even when it became obvious to even the most casual football fan that TR was never going to become a good (let alone great) NFL running back.

Coaches and GMs almost never admit they made a personnel mistake (unless it involves off-the-field stuff).

Yeah these folks don't realize how good miller is.....it's more so of how great miller is than how reitz sucks

I've been down on Reitz pretty much his entire career.  I was patient with him at first -- knowing that he hadn't played football in college and was a project.  The way I saw it, if Pagano and Grigson both thought he was capable of becoming a good lineman, then who am I to question their judgment?  They see him everyday and I don't.

But I think they've had enough time.

If people think Rietz is bad, Clark would get Luck Killed! It won't change this year.. Andrew is gonna have to speed up his release....

Andrew has been hit more his first 5 years than any other qb. That can't All be Joe...

Who said it was?  Does it have to have been "all Joe" to be able to declare that we can and should find somebody else?

Personally, I think AC is a RT and we need a new LT.  But the Colts overpaid AC, and now they're stuck.  Haeg handled LT well in Preseason, but he's hurt, not strong enough, and inexperienced.  Could be a long season for Andrew....

That too.  I agree we overpaid AC -- he's no Jonathan Ogden.  But at least he's an NFL-caliber lineman.

What good is having a great QB if you don't have a good enough O-line to let him do his job?

What gets me is that Ryan Grigson himself WAS an offensive lineman!!!

  7. 1 hour ago, danlhart87 said:

We need to replace him at RT.

    He has been downright awful!

    ...and never anything but.

I appreciate that he's a versatile backup.  But he's simply not good enough to be a starting lineman in this league.  He's almost always slower and weaker than the guy lined up across from him.  He didn't play college football and it shows.

I know that he went up against an elite DE today.  But this has been a lingering frustration of mine for several years.  How in the world do we "revamp" our offensive line...and leave him on it?

He should've been the first to go.

He needs to be on the bench. But, no one else is seperating themselves, though.

And that's entirely on Ryan Grigson.  There's no excuse for having a guy who couldn't start anywhere else in the NFL in our starting lineup for several seasons in a row.

I know that Denver's ends are among the best in the game.  But Reitz wasn't just getting beat in a footrace, he was getting pushed backward like a WR trying to block a DT.

  9. 3 minutes ago, 21isSuperman said:

And there's the game.  Kinda fitting that the game ends with Reitz getting abused

Precisely.  He's awful and has never been anything but awful.  No way he should be starting in the NFL.

This is why I won't hold back against Grigson.  We've known Joe Reitz was bad for several years now.  And we've done nothing to rectify the situation.

He gets whipped all the time -- not just by Von Miller.

Seriously. They're just gonna keep making excuses for us. We're fully healthy on offense and they're the reason we're losing the game. 20 years down the line these guys are gonna give pagano a pass for the season just because a few starters are out

Bill Belichick couldn't win with this roster.

Coaches cant help players being outmatched.

  11. 4 minutes ago, James Harden said:

Yeah I'm starting to think we should not have give Pagano another chance. Grigs was just a head scratcher.

Personally, I thought we should've kept Pagano and ditched Grigson.  It's been obvious where our weaknesses have been and Grigson has shown no ability to address them.

There's no such thing as a coach who can win games with 2nd rate personnel all over the starting lineup.

The best skill position players in the game are useless without a competent line.

if we start 0-2 it's going to be a long season

You have to wonder if Irsay is regretting his decision.

Yeah, I know...injuries. But our offense is relatively healthy.  And we can't move the ball -- mostly because our line is getting dominated.  Well, it's not as if we didn't know that our line was weak.  But we didn't overhaul it as much as tweak it.

  13. 5 minutes ago, 21isSuperman said:

    Reitz continues to get abused

No kidding.  If you watch Reitz (and not just in this game), he routinely gets whipped.

He's a 2nd stringer at the pro level, at best.  And he's been starting for us several years.  It says a lot that we haven't made any effort to replace him.

It's a one possession game going into the half.  Yardage is way skewed in their favour, but the score is the only thing that matters.  We receive to begin the second half, and we're good at making those halftime adjustments.  This game is not over

Well, the score is all that matters at the end of the game.  That's true.  But I hope and expect the coaches aren't adopting that attitude at half.  We've got to move the ball to score, and we have to score to win.

We're lucky as heck to only be down 7.  But if we don't get our problems figured out, we have no chance.

Serious question to a lot of the detractors on here, let us accept that most people don't remember the play by play of games just the result.

With that thinking in mind, if we go in the half being within a TD considering how we've been outplayed, how we've lost yet more CBs, how the O has regressed back to 3 and outs, don't you think we should actually kinda be happy it's this close?

We all know what Luck is capable of when he gets going... and he is the 4th Qtr monster.

Yes, we're lucky to not be down 3 touchdowns.

As for our offense, I'd just say that Denver's defense is (thus far, anyway) dominating us.  Receivers aren't getting enough separation.  And, as usual, we're getting embarrassed at the line of scrimmage.  Luck is consistently under pressure and both teams know we can't run the ball.

Our offensive line is just....well....offensive.  I'm sure Denver's elite D has a lot to do with that.  But through 6 quarters of football this season, our offense has looked atrocious in 4 of them.  And it mostly comes back to our old Achilles Heel: the line.

Defensively, I think we've done about as well as can be expected with 4 or 5 scout teamers out there.  I'd like to see more pressure on the QB: force him to make some bad throws.

Moore's had to pick up his jockstrap a couple times.

  16. Joe Reitz might be the worst starting O-Lineman in the NFL.

I realize Von Miller's an elite player.  But Reitz may as well not even be standing there.  Miller has been pushing him around like a rag doll.

It just takes one weak link to ruin an offensive line.  And Reitz is typically ours.

  17. It's a risky move for the Texans.  That's a lot of dough (and salary cap space) to be tossing to a player like Osweiler.  I watched the Broncs a few times with BO under center.  He was good -- but not this good.  He's getting top-tier money.  It's not at all surprising to me that Elway refused to match it.

It could end up coming up roses for the Texans.  Or it could end up as one of the biggest FA busts in NFL history.
