  1. Hyup.

We live in a "gotta have it now" society.

Doesn't matter that he's a rookie, and that historically (with exceptions) rookies don't start their first year. Doesn't matter that our O-line, which we complained about nonstop for the last 3-4 years, can't establish consistent protection or a running attack. Doesnt matter that we have a D that has consistently been our weakest link for a decade.

It seems people actually expected Andrew Luck, a rookie QB, to coverup all our glaring flaws and instantly be amazing.

So to answer the original question. No. I don't think Andrew was too hyped. He's everything as advertised in my opinion. I think some fans took that hype to mean immediately he would be as good as they say.

Most of the praise I heard referred to Luck as the greatest "prospect" they had ever seen. The word "prospect"implies development is still needed.

I hope these threads exist in 3 years when Luck has us as a 10 win teams haha

You'd be surprised how many posters on this board don't understand this. It's unbelievable.

  2. Had Adam hit that first field goal Jax would not have sat on the ball to try to make us use our timeouts. They would have been behind and played and odds are driven down the field to kick a field goal to win it 19 to 17. Honestly as strange as it sounds Adam missing that kick probably increased our chances of winning game with the way things played out. We got the ball back and put our selves in poistion to win the game. We didn't lose because of Adam's kick we lost because we didn't cover the last pass by the Jags.

For all the panic over Adam after that game he is 8 of 9 since that miss and 10 of 13 for the season. He's fine.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, it would have played out differently if he made it.

  3. I think House said it best in the other thread something along the lines of, Lucks biggest problem is that he isn't Peyton. You have a lot of fans who became Colts fans through the Peyton era (nothing wrong with that) and expect Luck to come in and replicate his success. They don't realize that he is a rookie surrounded by other rookie or 1st year players in this new system and it's a collective learning process.

Let me tell you something. Yes it's an apples to oranges comparison but if people are this upset with Luck's #'s and the Colts performance through 6 weeks, imagine what the board would be like if he had the following stats:

    6 TDs, 14 int's 54.3%, 1364 yds, 56.9 QB rating 1-5 record

Through 6 games he has exceeded my expectations. I expected the Colts to be 5-11 at best. I've posted it numerous times. I also expect Luck to throw another 7-12 ints and lose probably another 5-8 games. The thing is, it doesn't bother me. Making mistakes is one way he is learning and is going to get better. Peyton sure as heck learned from his rookie mistakes and exploded in his 2nd season. Not saying Luck will (look at Cam) but just making a point.

  4. what missed field goal..?

    Luck's numbers are 3-3...and that's fine for a rookie

In the Jags game remember that FG that Vinateri missed? It was a 36 yarder in the 4th quarter. Now keep that in mind for a second. Near the end of the game the Colts had the ball on Jax 26 on the last 3 or 4 downs (i forget) and the score was 22-17 at that point. Had Vinateri made that 36 FG earlier, it would have been 23-20 (Jax would not go for 2 pts so it would be 23 instead of 22 since they failed the conversion) and the Colts could have kicked the FG there and it would have tied 23-23 likely.

The scenario is actually really complicated because had Vinateri made the 36 yarder, maybe the Jags turn it over or something else but regardless those 3 points could have helped. Of course the defense deserves the blame for blowing coverage with 56 seconds left.

  5. I was number 4...so if you mean me...you do not know football or you have not read any of my positive posts week in and week out. I particularly note what we started with....to the now injury depleted defense....that played their hearts out.

Not happy with your post Balzer! I hope you can tell.....please specify who your rant is about....I will got toe to toe with anyone on forums on this young team! Go Young :colts: :colts: :colts:

    no OP is a troll

  6. Patriots have Tom Brady which will be enough to get them into the playoffs. The entire AFC is garbage this year. There are only 3 teams above .500 right now and will be 2 if the broncos lose tonight.

Agreed, the NFC is stacked. As long as the Pats have Brady, they have a shot. All they need to do is get in and Brady can work his magic.

  7. Any qb can throw a 70yd bomb when he has no one in front of him or ppl blanketing the wr... you can go back to his college plays and see there were many plays where the receivers had to come back to the ball to make the catch.

Maybe it is mechanics but it looked a lot like arm strength in college and it has looked like that in the NFL as well

Then why don't all QB's throw 70 yard bombs on their pro days?

  8. There is all of this speculation on Angerer, but wasn't he on the PUP? Doesn't that mean that even if he is 100% healthy, he can't come back until after week 6 which is AFTER this game???

I don't think he was on the pup but I don't know for sure.

  9. It's way too early to judge his completion percentage in just 4 games. He is 96/177. If he had just completed 11 more passes out of those 177 he would be at 60.4%. Think about that for a second, the difference between 54% and 60% is 11 completions(roughly 3 more completions per game). Only reason I bring up 60% is because that is the highest comp % for a #1 pick (Carson Palmer (60.9) and Cam Newton(60)).

  10. Looking at the next 5 opponents

    Jets

    Browns

    Titans

    Dolphins

    Jags

I don't want to get ahead of myself after this win but if the Colts can get everyone back healthy (Reitz, Satele, Angerer, and Davis) and stay healthy, they could win maybe 3 out of 5? Thoughts?

  11. In order:

#1 Houston - Good defense/pass rush designed to get to Manning. Their offense is equally good.

    #2 Atlanta

#3 San Fran - Defense can do most of the work and hold NE to under 25. The O will have to show up to some extent.

    #4 Baltimore (Already have)

#5 Jets. Just kidding. Should be humorous watching Houston throttle them on Monday night.

Those are the four teams I'd put ahead of NE. Arizona won, but that was more of an anomaly I think. Baltimore is more/less even. Defensive edge to Balt, offensive edge to NE.

San Diego...I haven't seen enough of to make a prediction.

49ers had 621 yards on offense today! :woah:
