I am wonderful, I am just saying if you think we are going to lose by 3 TD's why watch? That is just common sense. I would rather watch a movie or go to bed. That is just me.

I will watch because I’m a colts fan. Not because I think the game will be particularly close.

Our 2 starting safeties and starting WLB are out against arguably the best offense in the NFL. Even with the starting group, they would‘ve struggled mightily.

This game will be painful to watch. 35-13 Chiefs

  2. It does feel like in the recent games we’ve just sat back more in cover 2 zone and gotten picked apart by opposing offenses.

Late last year a common theme was blitzing and getting home against agile QBs like Watson. This year any remnants of pressure seems anemic.

For any Tampa 2 / Zone heavy scheme, pass rush and ability to limit the rush is critical. Blitzing periodically or being aggressive also helps to limit the run and short completions on early downs to force them into 3rd and long. We’ve done poorly at all of the above over 4 games.

  3. I agree expecting the team that was carried week in and week out by Luck to be anything more than a 0.50 team in the short term post-Luck is asking a lot. I’m a diehard colts fan, but that’s some honesty.

Reality hit us in the face in the Oakland Raiders.

We should take what we get in terms of wins and really be 110% ecstatic if we even get close to the playoffs. Quite honestly, the pessimist in me may prefer a down year, development from young players, and good draft position to reload this team into something better than 1 player.

We thought our defense was decent and look at what  the Raiders did to them. Our defense like our offense has to be more than 1 player. In all due respect to them, that team was an absolute dumpster fire all off season. Our starting Dline gets 0 pressure all game. Ballard has a lot of work to do even after 3 drafts...

  4. 400 - 3 Chiefs. Mahomes 100 for 100 on 3rd down. Colts 1 Of 2 on FGs. Vinetari comes in for the 70 yarder but misses it just wide left by a few yds.

In all seriousness, this game sucks especially being a road night game. Couldnt be less ready for it with all of the injuries, even without them we’d struggle to keep it competitive. We are going to get embarrassed on national television listening to Chris Collinsworth talking about Andrew Luck for 3 hours while praising how awesome Mahomes and the Chiefs are.

We don't know this, and if the team did overlook Oakland then that is on coaching.  It doesn't matter what this forum thinks, we aren't the ones playing the game.  More than likely it is because of the following reasons:

Our defense still has the same issues as the other weeks:

    - can't tackle

    - can't stop anyone in the pass game (everything is 8 yards AT LEAST)

    - small and fast is okay if they get penetration....but we don't

    - cover 2 can work if you play from a lead and have pass rushers worth a damn.....we don't

    - cover 2 with a small defensive line seems to suck against the run (both in Peyton's day and now).

I really wonder how the Bears made it work so well because it doesn't seem like any other team has success with it except them (and Tampa many moons ago).

    Offense:

    - we love to grab wide receivers in the draft and free agency that are known for drop issues and then are stunned when they drop balls.  Here is a list of the ones that were known for it in college or pros:

     - Ebron

     - Funchess

     - Deon Cain

     - Chester Rodgers

    - verdict is still out on Jacoby

    - I don't think Mack can carry the load of workhorse RB

A whole lot of honesty right here. Could agree more!

Nah.  I'm one of those guys that figures stuff out, then others know stuff after I tell them.  You probably think knowledge is about reading or hearing what others wrote or said.  That's a bad definition of knowledge.  Its good for a GPA, but bad for actual knowledge.

When it comes to reporting factual information, neither a good GPA or being able to figure things out really help. May work well for speculation?

    Winner!

    So close!

    So Close- however

    Winner!

Was at the game today. It was a good one! Just glad we got the win. ATL moved the ball seemingly at will in the 2nd half to make it a close one down the stretch

  8. 1st home game atmosphere. Brissett 250 yds passing and 2 TD. OL paves the way for a 100+ yard rushing game. Offense has a good day.

Defense struggles in passing game with strong receivers for ATL. Secondary and DL make a few clutch plays to end long drives and squeeze out a win at home.

    28 - 24 Colts

  9. Hope we get Kelly on the PS, however we’ll see if he makes it past the QB needy teams out there.

With respect to keeping Hoyer over Kelly, I imagine the rationale in keeping Hoyer is to have the elder QB to help be a player-coach for Brissett; sort of like Hasselbeck was with Luck.

Alternatively it’s interesting to think if  we would’ve signed the best available practice squad QB to be backup QB while Kelly served his 2 game suspension. At that point promote Kelly and move signed backup to the PS. I generally agree that, while he was well regarded by Belichick, I would not want Hoyer to start any games for us; and with him starting we are drafting early or most certainly mediocre.

  10. I think we all agree that this isn’t likely to happen nor would we really want it to from a draft capital and locker room standpoint...

However I think we all can buy into single high looks with Ramsey shutting down one side and Hooker roaming for all the INTs

Who got more value as a trade, hoyer's or kelly?

I was thinking the same. The question in my mind is which QB do you keep and which do you try to move. To me you keep Kelly for the upside and try and move Hoyer.

I doubt that is the course we take though; I suspect we either keep both or move Kelly.

  12. Mack the next great Colts RB? He’s certainly the greatest RB on the Colts roster currently. He had a great game last week (so did the Colts oline). The great RBs that come to mind have a lot of commonality; they consistently put up 100+ yard games with explosive game breaking runs. Mack showed that towards the end of last season (not the first half) and showed that Wk1.

If he continues to put up 170 yard games through Wk2-Wk16 then I think we can start having that conversation around Mack being one of the great Colts RBs and putting him in the same bucket as the Gurleys and the Zekes.

I think for now my vote is that he’s our franchise RB (the best we’ve had in a long while); one that can play 3 downs and make plays.

  13. I wouldn’t put the L on him. He makes those FGs we’re still down multiple possessions.

That said you can’t miss those FGs in the playoffs. That just as easily could’ve been a game winner type scenario in which we would’ve lost; Vinny did his best Parkey imitation.

We we went younger across the roster including punter. I think it’s about time to look for youth at the placekicker position. It won’t be easy because there will be likely more mistakes, but better for the long run to go ahead and start the development process of a young kicker.

  14. 1.) Colts defense can’t pressure Mahomes. Mahomes does Mahomes things escaping the blitz were likely going to bring ala Watson.

2.) KC Offensive weapons too much for Colts defense. Kelce has a career day.

3.) Chiefs DL pressure Luck all day. Colts offense can’t find rhythm.

If we limit Mahomes under 300 yards passing and sack him more than once, I think we win the game.
