  1. I'd say the fact that they're looking at McKinney would indicate they're looking at the backup NT spot, so if Williams is more of a DT than a NT then how would he have been better than McKinney?

Im saying that Kevin Williams would play better at NT than Mckinney, even though it is not his natural position. Not that it is anything other than speculation and hyperbole.

    Tldr- Mckinney is not good

  2. Doesn't matter Mack would of centered our OL for ten yrs,,,,,,,,,,,,,And center QB is such an important piece remember Jeff Saturday and Peyton what a combo that was without a good center for the QB that spells trouble ,,,,,,Plus Macks a great blocker,,,,,,,,,,,You all will see this season when we have troubled plays b/c of the bad center position not addressed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,And Talib can stay w/ a receiver for awhile he s long and lanky perfect body for that position,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Stop dreaming of we have the pieces we need We don't and didn't address them like we should of in the off season,,,,,,,Luck will improvise and run for his life again

You realize thats over 10% of the cap spent on a position not named quarterback.... right? Mack is a great player, but he was never realistically leaving Cleveland.

Now, don't get me wrong; I would've been ok with taking a flier on Talib- but he is not as good as the money he got paid.

I think Holmes will do fine this year- but I'm guessing that the first sack Luck takes you will be on here screaming "see! See! I told you so!"

I would try to explain things like defensive schemes and how the cap works to show you that you are wrong- but I figure if you can't grasp that pesky thing called proper English then those balls may sail over your head too.

  3. This isn't an English class ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,its a dam fan forum,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,And why then did we have talks w/ Mack????? B/c we did but the price was to high in our coaches opinions..............Our OL.U REALLY think we are set at it? Maybe if we luck out many things will fall in place and we'll get by but in all likelihood hell no that's wishful off season thinking,,,,,,,,,,,,And Flowers there are 1o teams as of today interested in him I hope we are one of them..............Mewhort looks like a mauler,,,,,,,,,,,U better hope that that translates into being a pro NFL MAULER,,,,,,,,,,,,,,There is always hope in the off season training camp everyone looks good what the team is going to say Ummmmm we made a stupid mistake and took the wrong guy...................Just like Werner what the Hell,,,,,,,,,kinda pick was that they had him picked b4 Goodall announced the Colts pick..............Grigson had a great 1st draft that was e-z he had many low picks to work with,,,,,,,,,,and did a great job getting Hilton,,,,,,2ND DRAFT jury is still out on the one God and this draft No one football drafniks heard of these guys Colts drafted,,,,,,,,,,,,SO MAYBE JUST Maybe we 'll hit the lottery and luck out w /this draft and our 2nd year guys will shape up nicely --Monncliff Maybe a steal that's about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest are long shots!!!!!!!!!!!!! By a Long Shot!!!!

Yeah. We talked with Mack. However, short of 15 mil a season the Browns were going to match any offer. We arent paying a center 15 mil a season.

The offensive line is instantly better than last year- so is the defensive line. Games are won and lost by the play of the defensive line, not the secondary. Theres nothing in the wold an all star corner could have done to win the divisional round last year. However an all star DT is what we need. Josh Chapman has the ability to be that for us.

You are also right. This isn't an English class- but you could do us the favor of not typing out your butt. Flowers would be useless on the Colts. He is a zone corner like Alterraun Verner. We need press man corners.

  4. He does need to improve in this area but all Colts fans see this deficiency because we are used to

watching Manning throwing accurately through very very tight windows over the years.

Nobody is going to be as accurate as Manning but I see your beef with missing the wide open guy.

Like that one throw againat the Broncos where the ball was at Wayne's ankle?

  5. I do not know why everyone is posting of things un football related like basketball etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that's stupid,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Also we need to pic up veteran safties and CB's don't know what colts wer thinking not picking up a center like Mack in FA or getting Aquid Talib,,,,,,,HUGE mistake,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,And our OL we'll be in same position last season Luck running 4 his life,,,,,,,,,We have good foundation but lack the rest on OL and DL........We made same mistakes when we had Manning Harrison James Glenn Sanders Freeney we paid Hige contracts to those mentioned and had nothing to get FA's whereas other teams did and we lost out and lost making SB due to that and looks like we'll do the same this year to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,We are not good enough to bet the Pats in 2nd rd playoffs We did not do enough in off season we are hangng on by a wing and prayer in areas OL and DL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Good god man. Is that even english?

Mack was NEVER a free agent that we could have picked up. Ever.

The Free Agents we nabbed (Jackson, Jones, Nicks, Adams) are all upgrades over the counterparts (or lack thereof) last year. Being, (Kelvin Sheppard, Moala/4th DLineman (I'm guessing, I know the DLine is a rotation), DHB and 2nd String Safety.

We have an offensive line, granted there's some young players there- but Holmes by default is better than Satele, and Mewhort looks like an absolute mauler too.

You can't build a team with a bunch of aging superstars. The Broncos are in the middle of doing it- trying desperately to steal a ring. What happened? They got blown out by a younger team that filled critical weaknesses with veterans.

  6.  Andrew Luck ranked behind (among others) Stafford, Griffin, Dalton and Ryan.  That pretty much says - "don't read this tripe - go to Facebook (or Colts forum) and make a snarky comment."

    http://msn.foxsports.com/south/story/fantasy-fox-post-draft-rankings-for-starting-qbs-1-32-051714

This is also for a fantasy draft. Andrew Luck is not a sexy option as a fantasy quarterback. I don't know how many times he posted less than 10 Fantasy points for me last year.

  7. The NFL replied to Mathis' agent by saying Clomid is not an FDA approved drug for males -- it treats women for fertility-- but is banned as a PED. There is nothing wrong with admitting you cheated, got caught and promise to cheat no more. Of course it might mean no Hall of Fame chances.

Clomid is not an FDA approved drug for males, but in the pharmacy I work at, we send out thousands of boxes of Clomiphene (Clomid) to male patients all the time.

Granted, we are a compounding pharmacy and are not regulated by the FDA, but the use of Clomiphene in men is well documented in the United States. None of the "herbal supplements" that people take are FDA approved, yet people use them all the time.

  8. Clomid is a female fertility drug but it's written off label for men with low sperm counts.  The doctor apparently told Mathis to take Clomid to speed up the process because his wife had health problems and couldn't take it.  That doesn't make a bit a sense either.  "Robert, since your wife, who is a woman, can't take this female fertility drug, you, a man, take it instead so she can get pregnant faster."  That just doesn't sound right.

Plus, Clomid is not a fast-acting drug in men.  It takes a couple of months to see those sperm counts rise.  If Mathis had a low sperm count and wanted to get the counts up fast, HCG would have been more appropriate but HCG would have definitely showed up on a drug test.  Heck, a man on HCG can take a pregnancy test and it will say he's pregnant.  HCG is just that easy to test for.  Clomid is a little harder to detect.

As a disclaimer- I work in a pharmacy that specializes in BHRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and Clomiphene (Clomid) and HCG are both some of our biggest medications that we sell.

Clomiphene in men is used to replace and regulate testosterone levels (A drop off in testosterone can lead to erectile dysfunction, and also male infertility). This drug essentially kick-starts the male's testosterone production, and can have effects in less than 3 days, depending on the person.

As for the substance abuse policy, there is nothing on the market in the United States that would not have broken the NFL's rules on Substance abuse- anything that deals with hormones is bound to be against the NFL's rules.

So, why is this an unfair punishment? Well- Clomiphene does not directly link you to physical performance- it's not that type of drug, like steroids.

    1) He did not take the medication during the season or during off-season activities.

    2) If he did only take Clomiphene for 10 days, as he stated, there would be no effects other than the regulation of his testosterone production- something the human body is supposed to do anyway.

    3) The medication would have been metabolized from his system (and the effects of it) far before the season would have began.

    4) We're talking about a mid-30's player who has been the icon of the values the NFL wants to exemplify. I think at this point in his career, he deserves at least the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, he made a mistake in not contacting the NFL or the NFLPA. He was misinformed by a M.D. and should he be punished for the mistake? Absolutely. There are no free passes in the world and you have to be accountable- but at least let the punishment fit the crime. Fine the guy $100,000 or give him a one game suspension and let him get on with his life and job.

  9. I support Robert Mathis, and I honestly believe that the punishment was unjust.

I've been slowly losing respect for Roger Goodell for a while. I honestly have to question if this is the type of punishment that would be handed down to a Peyton Manning or a Tom Brady, or even a player in a higher profile area (Seattle). Didn't Richard Sherman get a successful appeal when he had drug issues? Yet they refuse to even consider Mathis' appeal?

  10. Money perhaps?  I imagine they weren't all free.

Great collection.  I covet stuff like Mark Twain and others who have directly moved me in one way or another, but I love seeing someone's passion so fully realized in a collection like yours.  I have over 100K CD's (and most of them in digital form as well) so I kind of got hosed with the upgrade in technology, but like Record albums, it's fun to browse through liner notes etc.

    Thanks for sharing, very cool

Yeah, some autographs get pricey >$10 each, and that can add up over six, seven, eight high profile players (PG, Reggie, TY, Mathis etc.) It's generally a matter of watching the prices and waiting for a decent deal if I can't get a player to sign a card through the mail.

Luck doesn't sign anything anymore. His rookie season he did, but I've sent him two or three cards since then, and I get them back unsigned with a second Andrew Luck card in the envelope that he or someone else just puts in there and sends back.

  11. NICE Collection! Lots of time and energy went into that I am sure!

Not a card guy - but I have a John Unitas/Peyton Manning signed football, and I need to get Andrew to sign it. I guess I should wait til after we win the super bowl - I am in New York. It is easy during camp to get Andrew's signature?

It's not hard to get any one player's autograph during TC, it's just if you want Multiples, then it's insane. I live in Florida (Born in Bloomington, IN) So I send stuff to a good friend of mine in Indy to get signed if he can.

  12. Hey guys, with the draft winding down, I wanted to share one of my hobbies with you. I collect autographs and one of my favorite autograph collections is my Indianapolis Colts one. I've got almost everyone on the roster who has had a card, and I spend quite a bit of time researching if a card was ever made for certain players. I've had to dig deep to find some of these autographs, like the Jerrell Freeman one- I had to have a friend who lives in Canada contact sports cards shops to find it, then he shipped it down to the states to me. Some autographs, like one of the Bjoern Werner, the Andrew Luck, one of the Fleeners, the Vinatieri and Hassleback have all come in person or through the mail from the person themselves. I do have the defense displayed in a frame- with Darius Butler filling in the Free Safety spot. Also have a few Ex-Colts autographs for those feeling sentimental, and 3/5 of the Starting five for the Pacers. As for the empty sleeve on the O-Line, I've got a Jack Mewholt coming in soon.

    Anyone else collect Colts autographs?

  13. Ok, let's break these two picks down even more, since we have nothing to talk about until tomorrow.

Mewhort- can play all five positions on the offensive line, this is super valuable. Mewhort is a solid offensive lineman, even as a 6th if Thomas is healthy. Think of Mewhort as a much much better version of Linkenbach (Diversity in skillwise).

Moncrief- Uh... 1st/2nd round talent at 90th overall? Why not? He was a stud in college, and a top 8 WR on the draft boards. He's not a Sammy Watkins or a Mike Evans, but he's got the bruising features as a solid #2. Even if the Colts don't use him this year, he is insurance against the loss of Wayne AND Nicks next year. If Nicks doesn't pan out, and Wayne retires- You will be thanking the heavens that we had Moncrief to get familiar with the system. Besides, a WR Corps of Hilton, Moncrief, Rogers and Brazill doesn't look awful to me.

It wasn't a safety, and it wasn't defense- I understand why a lot of people are crying about it. We did just sign two stud defenders in free agency, in Arthur Jones and D'Qwell Jackson- and that gave us the ability to just draft the best talent available- which Moncrief's value was much higher than that of the DBs and Safeties in the draft at 90.

It will be fine. Grigson hasn't led us astray yet.
