  1. I still contend even Chris Polian could have done no worse than Grigson's three whiffs in a row on first round selections.  If the Polians would have been ordered by Irsay to rebuild with Andrew Luck, they would have done just as well or better.

I also contend we would have been better than 2-14 during the 2011 season if ancient Kerry Collins would have been healthy.

Firing the Polians may well have been the right move, but hiring Grigson was a regrettable mistake.

  2. I would be thrilled to have Peyton in any capacity.  Manning would surround himself with knowledgeable people.  I'm sure he's smart enough to realize what he doesn't know.  If you just restrict yourself to experienced GMs, you're just going to end up, more than likely, with recycled also-rans. The next generation of great GMs have to get a start somewhere!

  3. Irsay is part of the problem. Back in the late 90's, Bill Polian made the job of being Colt's owner a lot easier.  The problem is there aren't any Bill Polian ' s out there.  It's on Irsay to make the right hire at the right time.  I'm remain unconvinced it's going to happen though

  4. The Dorsett pick is indefensible. I stated at the time, if Dorsett is not a barn-burner right out of the gate this was a wasted first round pick(the third in as many years for our supreme talent evaluator on 56th St).  Plus, we were loaded at WR.  Watch Dorsett be out of the NFL in the near future! Richardson, Werner, and Dorsett... textbook incompetence.

I'm telling you, Mr Irsay, you would have saved a great deal of money at the GM position if you had simply followed any NFL mock draft on the internet instead!

  5. Halloween Monday night game against Denver in 1987. Dickerson ran like a Madman.  Colts destroyed a very good Broncos team.  Monday night games back then were huge, almost had a play-off atmosphere.  I was just a teenager back then,  it was very exciting

  6. I would rather do this trade in reverse- trade a future draft pick for someone else's good defensive lineman.  We're going to have players go down and we don't know what we have in oft-injured Art Jones .  If I recall correctly, there was a drop off in the run defense after Anderson went down too. Depth at the position can dwindle quickly.

  7. I give it an "A". Could easily turn out to be my second favorite Grigson draft.

I love that 5 out of the 8 were lineman (offensive and defensive). We need big uglies!

I wonder how much input the coaching staff got into the draft process.

I was waiting for someone to say that. The forgotten RB!

It is amazing that people forget Faulk is not only the 10th leading rusher of all-time(ahead of Edgerrin), but he also had nearly 6900 yards receiving(#1 among running backs). Best dual threat ever

I saw that pic of the browns jersey with all the qbs they've been through since 1999 and its unreal. It made me realize how lucky we've been to go through the Peyton years and now the Luck era.

Could you imagine nearly 30 different starting QBs in about a 20 year span? Unbelievable.

Sure the Colts aren't perfect but the last 15+ years have been amazing.

Wait a minute,  didn't we have nearly 30 QBs on the roster last season alone?!?
