  1. I pray pray and pray Manning not only wins another Superbowl, but has an exceptional post-season run in the process of doing so to finally shut everyone up once and for all

Manning's reputation outside of Colts-nation has taken a hit since the Superbowl with that dayum pick-six, and on many message boards (as well as the media constantly writing negative articles about him), people have fallen back on the "Manning is a choker" nonsense that one would have thought, being a Superbowl MVP would forever grant a free-pass from.

It's amazing ...leading up to the Superbowl, Manning was universally about to be crowned the undisputed GOAT ...now he's back to being a choker. Amazing what a difference one pass makes.

  2. Please no. Not because he's a bad player but because the money spent on him (and I doubt he'd come cheap) would better be spent elsewhere.

For instance, if we signed him and Randy Moss or Brandon Mebane was available for the same price I'd be really disappointed

RB is the LAST of our needs right now. We only have like what 7 of them fighting for a spot?

  3. I would love for this to happen - I think Reggie can squeeze out 3 more years of All Pro productivity as a #2 posession receiver where his craftiness, veteran savvy and precise route running can allow him to dominate #2 receivers.

I'm not sure Reggie is able to get deep consistently anymore against even single coverage but he would feast on #2 CBs with a deep threat like Moss who Ds HAD to respect.

  4. Although I've heard from some analysts he may not be the best fit. It does kind of make sense...

1.) Rex Ryan is a defensive guru, so he could save money and go with a lower talented player and coach him to play very well.

2.) Nnamdi I heard plays a different style from Revis. I'm not a CB expert, but it's a man vs. zone difference. Something about Nnamdi doesn't chase guys like Revis does, but what do I know, I don't watch Oakland play.

3.) Nnamdi will be difficult to coach out of any bad habits Rex Ryan may perceive. Hopefully, he isn't like Albert Haynesworth and decides to be stubborn. In my mind, a player who gets paid well should be willing to do anything his coach asks, without question (as long as it pertains to football).

Nnamdi Awesomeugha plays primarily press but then so does Revis - what makes these guys so effective is that they don't play off their receivers but rather just maul and grapple and stick to them like glue bordering on interference at times.

It's actually arguable that Awesomeugha is the better CB between he and Revis, even when the latter is fully healthy. The stats (or rather lack of) really show how amazing Nnamdi is.

Only one problems - CBs don't win Superbowls, QBs do and at the end of the day they have Sanchez

  5. guarded optimism here as a pats fan. i'd love to see him be the player he was in Tenn. i was disgusted at what he was in Wash. i'd like to think BB has talked to him directly to see where his mind is. i say it's a 25% chance of workng out. if not he gets cut

he said he hates the 3-4 but i think Wash had him on the nose. he'd be an end here

They tried to use him as a DE in a 3-4 too after he wouldn't play nose ...I disagree he'd play DE in NE ...it's wrong to generalize that NE uses purely a 3-4 front as BB has a proven record of putting his players in the best position to succeed and changing fronts depending on the situation.

In 2009 they ran a 4-3 base to suit the personnel on the roster and they'll probably switch to a 4-3 on certain situations and bring Haynesworth in on those where he can wreck havoc as a 3-technique DT.

Using him as a DE and asking him to eat up space and seal the edge is a waste of his talent and simply repeating the same mistake in Washington

  6. This move makes me sick to my stomach - what an absolutely bold and brilliant move by the Patriots. The fact they got him for a 5th (in 2013!!!) and only $5 million a year makes me wonder if there's some sort of pro-Patriots conspiracy and makes me wonder why he isn't in a Colts uniform.

People need to discard this notion that the Patriots only play in a 3-4 front, BB has shown flexibility in adjusting his fronts to fit the personnel he has on the roster such as in 2009 when they played primarily 4-3 as the base D. If there's a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players it's BB - Haynesworth is the next Corey Dillon / Randy Moss ...I'm absolutely sick to my stomach

Even without an edge rusher, the Patriots potentially have one of the most devastating interior pass-rushes out of a 4-3 set and that spells doom for pure pocket passers

  7. hes getting kinda weak legged..but im not gonna b debby downer on here..hes clutch n better than @ least 75% of everybody else..GO COLTS!!!

True, but in fairness, our offense rarely puts our kickers in bad situations where they have to attempt long FGs - besides, he'll be playing over half his games in a dome every year.

Was there really any doubt when he marched onto the field to kick the 50 yarder against the Jets despite his declining leg strength? Besides, McAfee handling kick-offs ensures Vinatieri's golden leg stays fresh

  8. This is awesome - Vinatieri quietly had one of his best seasons ever as a pro last year with a 26/28 performance and what SHOULD have been, yet another game-winning FG at 50 yards, no less, against the Jets

Just hope we didn't overpay, but very happy to have this future Hall of Famer on the roster for another 3 years

  9. Too bad they still have Mark Sanchez at QB

Additionally, they still have gaping holes at the OLB position - where will they generate their pass-rush from? Last year, contrary to popular belief, they played alot of zone and actually did not generate that many sacks or create many turnovers

That team will only go as far as Sanchez will take them. Plus they can't keep everyone - Edwards easily had his best year last year, even if the stat sheet doesn't show it and losing him would affect the continuity / growth of the offense ..on the other hand, if there's one coach that can get the best out of Randy Moss for his final act in his career, it's Rex unfortunately

  10. It'll be weird to see Hasselbeck in a Titans uniform - I have a tremendous respect for him. I think he still has one more good year in him - the Seahawks offense hasn't been the same since they lost Hutch and Walter Jones and the entire franchise has been in a semi-state of dysfunction the past 3 years ..I don't think it's necessarily a reflection on Hasselbeck's skills as a player - I do think he has limitations that could be hidden on the Titans offense. He is definitely in a good situation to succeed.

  11. Nice first post

Patriots - on paper they're better than us but as usual this will come down to the wire no matter who's playing

Ravens - we have their number

Jets - they did not upgrade their pass-rush, they will lose at least Edwards or Cromartie, or even both which will be a huge blow to a team that invested heavily in free agency (and rented Cro for 1 year with a 2nd rounder if they don't re-sign him). Their 1st round draft pick is in danger of being deported and their D, talent-wise is pretty mediocre. If we were healthy we'd kill these guys. Rex is a fantastic coach though (I would love him to be the Colts HC in a fantasy world) - but his team is bound to take a step back this year after over-achieving for 2 years.

Chargers - these guys could be 1-15 and they'd probably still beat us. Hate these guys. But they just lost Ron Riviera who has been excellent at limiting (and outright embarassing Manning) the last few years ...hopefully with him gone their D will take a step back

Steelers - they likely won't be able to re-sign Ike Taylor and their secondary is a huge weakness plus their poor pass-protecting O-line plays to our D's strengths. I'm not scared of these guys at all - they would've been massacred by the Patriots last year if they beat the Jets

Packers - I think they're better than the Colts; what I find impressive about them is they won the Superbowl with the highest number of games missed by starters in the league (although we had more players on IR) meaning they'll only be better this year. We got crushed by these guys in 2008 and they're even better now - this is one team I don't want to face.

Eagles - we were half a roster short of beating these guys with a FG despite them coming off a bye-week and Manning throwing to Brandon King. Not scared of them one bit.

Saints - F these guys. Seriously.

    Falcons - lol!!!!!!!!

Remember that last year was an aberration - half our players were on IR practically. We get that much better this year simply by getting healthy - I don't think this year's squad will be as dominant as those of years past but then again that's what I thought about the 2009 roster and look how that played out

I'd slide us in around 5th or 6th

  12. Absolutely we need to re-sign him - he might not ever break a homerun but he doesn't need to, his value lays elsewhere in the passing game

With the influx of new talent and new O-line configurations, Addai is the best last line of defense and he does an exemplary job at that.

The Colts absolutely need a RB competent in the passing game - no one on the roster has a proven ability to do that other than maybe Rhodes (who I don't think will make the final roster)

  13. Interesting, I didn't know he ever lined up on the outside.

Think of the game against the Broncos last year when he beat his man down the sideline for the game-clinching TD ...I think that's the game alot of us realized that he can work there

His best route are those seam routes he runs that puts him in jeopardy unfortunately

I love Austin Collie - he just has "it" and you can just tell he's special - one of the best Colts draft picks ever for where he was taken. I am so excited to see him back and what he means to this team.

I just pray that Manning is more careful with putting Collie at unnecessary risk (although at the end of the day, it's football and he's going to get hit) ...I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I was appalled at how they overused Collie coming back from his multiple concussions (Patriots and Titans game spring to mind)

  14. How is RB STILL a need for us? We have like what 7 of them now?

    Addai

    Brown

    Rhodes

    Hart

    Carter

    James

    Moore

Obviously not all of them will make the roster but as long as we can resign Addai (as we SHOULD) I don't see this being an area of need whatsoever

Strong safety is obviously the biggest area of need - our depth behind Bullit is perilously thin and we don't really know what we have in them

DT is obviously still a need - can't we get that guy from Seattle? Mookie is awesome but he's not an every-down player as he lacks stamina to be in on every play, but he's probably our best DT
