  1. Is this a joke?

As of right now, we don't even know if Harris will make the final roster until we see what he has left in the tank based on the health of his knees and the fact he was a healthy scratch for the majority of last year

Haynesworthless's issues are from the neck-up and nothing to do with his sheer dominating physical ability, nor does he have any injury concerns like Harris has

If we were getting the 2006 Tommie Harris, I'd still rather the 2008 DPOY Haynesworth (assuming he's motivated)

I understand the excitement of seeing what Harris was able to do 2+ years ago, but we have zero idea what we can realistically expect out of him as of right now

  2. Depends on if our O-line comes together to give our receivers time to get open.

Last season due to injury and instability on the offensive line, our offense became alot more horizontal than vertical

The one stat that will increase the most if our O-line improves is YPA

I think this year we'll see alot of the "explosive" quality of the offense return

At the same time however - it IS a copy cat league, and we saw what the Patriots were able to accomplish with a 2 TE set ...it was both safe (hard to intercept passes that travel 5 yards in the air from the LOS) and effective and exploited mismatches

Tamme is no slouch - he is nowhere near Clark but with Manning feeding him, from the moment Tamme started, he had the most receptions in the league for a TE

  3. Do you remember the playoff game against San Diego where Freeney was out with a hurt foot and Philip Rivers jacked his knee up?

And their backup comes in, has days to throw and shreds our defense like Dan Marino in the regular season.

That's why they spent a first round pick on a defensive end.

No need to even go back that far, try the recent Superbowl ... my mom could've been Superbowl MVP with zero pass rush, ten minutes to throw and our corners playing 50 yards off their receivers on 3rd and inches.

  4. Regardless of whether he's lost a step or not, he's an improvement over anything the Colts had on the roster at DT and the last time the Colts had DTs as good, it was back in 05 and 06 (Simon and Booger) and those were basically the 2 best defenses the Colts have had in the last decade.

Simon and Booger were never on the team at the same time and 06 was one of the worst years of D we ever had - we had a HISTORICALLY bad run defense (not just bad but I mean HISTORICALLY bad) that limped into the play-offs having been overrun by everyone (Ron Dayne looked like Jim Brown) ..they got lucky that they played 3 inept offenses in the play-offs and also get hot for 4 games.

Otherwise I agree - at the very least he has to be an upgrade over Eric Foster

  5. Linkenbach actually played well in limited time at LT and RT

I think what we all mentally associate him with is that Chargers game where he was EPIC FAIL

But playing the OT spots he was great - don't forget alot of us wanted him at RT over Diem

  6. Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE idea!

Watch some Vikings games last year - it wasn't all Favre ..McKinnie became a TURNSTILE and painfully SLOW

He's fat, out of shape and a clear downgrade from Charlie Johnson ...no thanks!

  7. For the record, that was vs Hutchinson (most of the time), one of the top 2 LG in the NFL for the past 10 years or so.

Great observation - I was just about to point that out too!

I'll be happy if just ONE of either Ernie Sims, Jamaal Anderson or Tommie Harris work out and become an impact player.

Harris is still young, maybe a change of scenery and a chance to get healthy by playing in a rotation could have him poised to return to form for the following season

  8. He looks great in that video - what happened to him between 2009-2010 is what I don't understand

I really hope it was only an attitude thing and not some debilitating issue with his knees ..although it doesn't speak well on him that Rod Marinelli, one of the best D-line coaches gave up on him

  9. Here's a video showing every snap Tommie Harris was involved in, in a Week 16 game against the Vikings in 2009 ...couldn't find anything more recent unfortunately

I think it's safe to say if this is the Tommie Harris we are getting (even if he's only 70% of what he was in 2006) then we're going to have a great complimentary, rotational player

Notice him living in the backfield quite a bit

  10. Non-factor. Patriots played plenty of 4-3 last year and in 2009 played out of a 4-3 base to suit the strength of the players on their roster

If there's one coach who's well versed in switching up his fronts based on the situation it's Bill Belichick - he loves players who are versatile

I do wonder where their edge pass-rush will come from out of a 4-3 however but their interior rush from Haynesworth and Wilfork will be devastating.

  11. Indy has signed 2 former 1st round picks (Sims, Anderson) should they make it a 3rd? I'm liking the possibility of getting Braylon Edwards...but his character is really a question for Indy. Garcon and Collie aren't really viable #2 WR options, both are more like slot WR's. If they get Manning a deep threat (Edwards) it could really open up the offense that much more. I'm excited to see future moves, at least they're finally making some!

The Jets let him go because they claimed he was a diva - now if the Jets, of all teams, can't stand his diva-ness, I can't imagine there would be any place for him here on the Colts

Having said that, he's a great player and has really done a great job of removing the drops from his game in his last year with the Jets but he's too rich for us - he looks like an $8 million type of player

  12. I hope it's true and I hope the fact it's a contract year for him leads him to have his best season yet.

Alot of us have been down on Reggie (myself included) over the past year starting with the Superbowl and continuing to his grumblings about his contract the following year to his apparently declining speed and inability to get open deep and memorable drops last season but the guy plays hurt, never takes plays off and is still the most dependable receiver on our roster

Great to hear he's motivated and sorry for ever taking him for granted

  13. I haven't had a chance to watch much of him in action. Does anyone know if he bites a lot on playaction? To me that was a big downfall for Angerer and a lot of our other LBs. Hopefully our D line and actually hold it down against the run this year so our LBs aren't as responsible for stopping the run and we won't have to worry about it. I'm just sick of giving up passes over the middle.

He bites on ALOT of play-action sadly, on both the Eagles and Lions. One recurring complaint about him is him being constantly out of position, to the infuration of his coaches.

I hope a change of scenery and stricter discipline in his game will help him but the Lions ran a Tampa 2 with Rod Marinelli and both they and the Eagles, teams desperate for talent at LB, thought he wasn't worth keeping

Either way it's a good move in my opinion - low risk, potentially high-reward but just wouldn't hold my breath

  14. Lacey is the new Tim Jennings / Keiwan Ratliff / Jason David

Tryon was one of the few bright spots of last year on D while Lacey took a huge step back from a promising rookie campaign.

We can only have faith our coaches will put the best players on the field, so let's hope Lacey being out there is a sign he's improved somehow

  15. He's actually not as bad as everyone says he is, on-the-field, that is. He's actually cut down on the majority of his drops that plagued him in Cleveland while he was on the Jets - he has freakish size, makes very tough catches and great leaping ability ...oh and he's an awesome (and willing) run-blocker too.

One thing that however recently surfaced that DOES surprise me however, is the fact it was reported the reason the Jets wanted to part ways with him was because he was supposedly a diva - now that has to be troubling given that the Jets are a team full of characters, and yet even they can't stomach having to put up with Edwards antics in the locker room.

Talent-wise I'd love to see him in a Colts uniform - the drops were not a problem for him the past 2 years, but the fact Rex can't put up with him has to raise alarm bells, not to mention his asking price would probably be in the $8 million range.

  16. You make some darn good points, same thing my buddy was sayin. BUT....catching a bunch of TD's doesn't make a HoF player. I think it would cheapen the Hall. I do think he is one of the most dominant receivers to ever play, however, his career was mired by conflict and periods of stagnation.

Hehe, some reason this reminds me of Buddy Ryan's infamous quote on Cris Carter (ironically Moss's mentor) "All he does is catch touchdowns"

In a way, his career reminds me a little of Kurt Warner's in that he exploded on the league, got injured, had some washed-up years in relative anonymity but then blossomed again later to recapture his earlier success.

I think questions of his character and attitude will forever plague his legacy, but in my humble opinion, not barriers to entry into the HoF - the Hall is for players who were the best at their position and accomplished things on the field, something Randy Moss was and has done (he retires top 10 in almost every category).

The game has never seen a freak of his ability and for a 6 year period, he absolutely destroyed the league

  17. Thanks for the memories, Randy.

I had a conversation with a buddy the other day about whether or not Moss was a HoF candidate. I said no because his accomplishments don't validate the honor, despite his amazing talents. The HoF isn't about recognizing raw talent. They already induct people on reputation more than they should.

Respectfully have to disagree with you there - individually he was one of the most DOMINANT receivers the game has ever seen. For the short time he was with the Vikings he absolutely DOMINATED the game and gave defensive coordinators nightmares and had some amazing play-off games early in his career

Unfortunately, the mid-part of his career was wasted in Oakland but he had 3 quality seasons with New England where he showed maturity, leadership and was instrumental (arguably the most singularly important) in the Patriots historic year, seizing the TD receptions record and helping the team to 16-0.

His "accomplishments" merely lack a ring - he is second all time in TD receptions to the great Jerry Rice, owns the single-season TD receptions record (don't mention Rice getting 22TDs in a strike-shortened season against scrubs and replacement players) and for a period was single-handedly the most dominant receiver the game has ever seen. I think individual accomplishments-wise he is a shoe-in / no-brainer

  18. Really thought he had one last great year left in him

Randy Moss will forever remind me of the crazy hot girl who everyone wants to hook up with and whom people will say anything to in order to hook-up with - and during the honey moon period she is absolutely amazing

...but after awhile she will get needy and start whining to you that you don't love her enough and take her for granted and that she wants to settle down with you and starts becoming psychotic and scaring you off from wanting to settle down with her

Then at some point she'll either dump you or cheat on another guy and go through the same highs and subsequent lows with them before realizing how much happier she was with you and tell you how much she misses you and still loves you

...except at that point you've already moved on but still fondly remember the awesome times you had with her before she went nuts and occasionally even wonder what it might've been with her but you realize you did the right thing
