I say, don't trade the first pick or draft a qb----i know you can get a lot with that pick but look at my thought
1)Matt Kalil if we trade that first pick we will not get him. a great OL will help the colts now and in the future we would have a great young line with our draft last year I think Ben I could play G
2) Jose Chapman NT. a great fit to go with Nevis and if we keep both Frenney and Matis and good front 4--yes i know we are going 3/4 some of the time.
this is good because it will keep our older DE's around for a few more years because they will not be playing every snap
3) Nick Foles QB --not Luck but Luck is not PM either. he would be a desent backup to PM and could be good enough to be the future colts qb when PM hangs it up
4) Eddie Whitley S-- a good player that may work well with Bethea
5) Keith Tandy cb-- a desent man on man cover and can play zone
i just think Matt Kalil is the best pick that will not be a bust --not saying Luck would--but MK is a sure thing
think what PM could do behind a great OL

Back to MORE misleading post, how about PM to this team, PM to that team?
What!! the topic had a question mark behind it
-
I doubt that Hillis will be re-signed because of his mediocre year. With the 4th pick they take Richardson and with the 22nd grab Alshon Jeffery. That offense with their D(which was ranked #10 this year) and special teams would be an instant playoff team IMO.
this is something like i'm thinking
now add PM to this draft as a FA and you have a playoff team with a #10 D also good ST's play with cribbs
-
I am all for the colts keeping PM, but why has no one talked about this possibility? here is my argument for it :
they would have a very solid backup qb in colt M
they have a great rb
a decent D that they could build upon with the draft
they do have those two first round picks and with the #4 pick could get a great wr from this draft
they also have a solid coach that will build a better D than the colts have provided for PM

.This is correct. I think what he means in the post about trading the pick is this: we have a great foundation with PM DC DF RM and a few more but what we are missing we could get by trading this pick. we can also get a backup qb in the first or 2nd rounds (if we can trade with the browns we get the 4th and 22nd picks) a qb maybe with the 22nd pick or the 2nd round 34th pick. we would be building for the future at the same time we are winning

Seems like a sign they want to keep Manning to meI. Keeping a familiar face around that worked directly with Peyton & will continue to hopefully...
I agree with this. and hopefully this will happen
-
he is also kind of large for a C therefore it could mean looking for a more run based OL i think he is around 315 lbs or so.

If we end up cutting Dallas Clark, and Miami gets Manning and Wayne... Most Miami fans want an upgrade from Fasano, they could sign Dallas, then they get basically our offensive core for the last decade to go along with a pretty good o line, top 5 defense and Brandon Marshall? I may end up attending more Dolphin games this year...
This makes me think!!! if this happens just like this i know we don't receive anything in trade but what would we get for losing these 3 first rounders as far as compt. picks? what would PM give us in the next draft?
-
The one thing Manning had a hold onto was the offense, I could see keeping Manning if they kept the OC, keep same familiarity, the change at OC means a different style of offense and what I think is the end of #18 in Indy. Truely a sad day.
I really hope this is not true

FS would be a better fit for him. the reason i'm thinking S at all for him is because i think he is more of a zone cover cb than a man to man and (but still a good player) that might could start at one of the S positions. looks like we may be going to more man to man if we play any 3/4 D at all (we would need man to man at the cb position) but maybe Powers can play man to man not sure!!
I know in the past our safties have been interchangeable, but Powers at SS is asking for trouble. I can't see him being the 8th man in the box. He should be a FS and put Bethea at SS so he can be the fill guy on the running plays. Powers can play centerfield.
-
what about J. Powers at the SS position, is this a move that would be possible as we look at going to a more man to man cb'sd?
not sure if Rucker/Thomas could fill one of these cb spots
what would be some thoughts to this?
-
no one can ever replace PM
I hope to see PM well and playing for the colts next year
-
if the colts let PM go (or not give him the bonus making him a FA) this would mean that PM could go to any team that he desired! Right?
well my point is could the colts do that and then sign him as a FA for a more cap friendly deal?
just a question i don't know the answer to this
-
I think your on to something there coffee the colts with PM back will need to find a way to slow down NE and those TE's
this is why i think we really need to trade that first round pick and get the D on track. I cannot see the colts D as it is holding teams like ne, saints, gb etc.

Ok I think if we are going to rebuild (which i don't want to because i want to keep PM) but if we are going to rebuild I think we should trade both our first pick and PM.
Doing it this way will give us several 1st rd picks for 2 or 3 years. we could draft a qb in the 2nd or 3rd round this year and we could keep Danny O.
the thing is with all of the extra early picks we will have we can create at great OL that will give us a balanced attack on O and a strong DL and CB's that can play more man coverage to help our D
we don't have to have the goat at the qb position, but we do need to have one that has some upside and we can find that in the draft or FA
-
I have had this thought. I would not like for this to happen because I want to keep PM and trade 1st pick, but anyhow here is my thought?
trade the 1st pick to the browns (of course this can only work if the trade is with the browns) for their two #1's and what ever else we could get from them
then with the browns 1st pick at # 4 take RGIII QB now here is where it gets interesting--then trade PM for what he would be worth (if healthy)
what i'm thinking is that we would get a good qb (not goat or pontential goat) but good and think of all the early picks we could have for this year and next in the draft to fill in the holds at OL & DL & CB/S
I'm thinking we could have 3 1st round picks this year and including our own pick we could have 3 first round picks next year and maybe even a 2nd rd pick this year and next.
well what do you think of this possibility???
-
Here is how i think the draft will go for next year. I like what we did in this year and think we will work that way again.
they drafted first and second rounds for what the needs were and i think they will do it again with the need being DT
So if we are in the top 10-15 picks i think the 2 best DT's at draft time (unless of course there is no one that ranks anywhere close to that high of a pick) in which case they should take the best cb. but let's say there is a good dt in the 2nd round also i say take him and we have now out of the 2 at least one starter in that first pick and with nevis and anthony J and Molina we will have some good young dt's to go with our probowl de's.
the rest of the draft should entail a G in the 3rd round anything after this round is a crap shoot.
what we then need to do for next year if we draft 1st and 2nd DT's 3rd G is go to FA and pick up a proven cb
with PM back the O is much improved and the D is improved also through the draft and FA pick ups
-
If you were the Colts GM what would you do if the colts had the #1 overall draft pick?
Would you stay there and Draft Luck or trade down for more picks?BUT Staying there and
I being an outsider can see the benefits doing both, trading down you get more HIGH picks (and prbl 2 #1 next year or even this year plus more) to improve any weaknesses the colts have expecting Manning be back next yr and doing this MAY give him a better rounded team and a chance win another SB.
BUT staying there and drafting Luck makes sense as you do two things:
1. Have a GOOD back-up behind Manning in case he cant go you remain competitive.
2. Manning can groom Luck for 3 yrs ala Favre to rogers.. except Manning would actually help the kid
So what would you do in this WORSE case scenerio.. remembering you are getting the franchise back next year.
I would trade the pick. we will have PM back for maybe 4 more productive years. trade it and put a team around him. we need 1 DT one cb and one more good ot. we then should get rid of some of the first rounders that are not working out and replace them with backups that can stand out on special teams.

this is where the coaching is a problem i think not making ajustments and really i think a change in coaching would help now if for no other reason to put more of a fire under them.

Linkenbach needs to go....He gets beat on every down....Move Diem back to tackle and put in Ben Iljana at guard.....
why not put saturday at RG and Pallock at C (i think that is where he plays best) and Deim at RT
just a thought

yes, actually i did think of him in the draft i had just posted. but with my kind of odd idea of not taking a qb or trading that first pick we would have to look at other positions and probally just resing tammy
