We need a dynamic  wr Odunze,  nabers, Brian Thomas Jr, Coleman somebody lol

it looks like the way the mock drafts are going its going the go Offense pretty heavy which would mean by pick 15 there should be some decent picks on the D side of the ball

there is one ranked about #4 or 5 wr that runs a 4.27 40 i forget his name but i would like to pick him with that #15 pick

but.. if no game changer at #15 i don't want to move up i would rather then focus on the D side of the ball with the best pass rush DE hopefully a 3 down player

if we do that i even thought of putting him at RDE and moving Buckner to LDE with GS at NT and maybe then looking for a 3tect DT in FA or #2 draft pick if there is someone there.

I’d really like to believe this is the year Ballard spends a 1st on a pass catcher. It doesn’t seem to be his MO. Usually once you have your QB you get guys to put around him so I’m hoping he break routine… if he doesn’t and we do get a top pass rusher it wouldn’t kill me.

if we get a top pass rusher we should look at keeping Pitt and also FA like Higgings. doubt he would do that but if he wants to keep his job he should consider it . my fear is Huston is no joke and they will have all their pass catchers ready to go and also the jags will make improvements. we really best inprove on both sides of the ball

I don’t follow college but I’ve heard a few names of guys close to Harrison’s talent level.

yea there's 3 maybe even 4 but there may be a run on qb's and there is also about 3 top plug and play LT's that will go so there will be maybe one by 15 if not there will be elite D players there for the taking

I guess I should clarify, go all out in the draft for playmakers on offense. I’d like to see a top WR in the first round even if it means trading up.

I don't think we will have to trade up i think there will be a good one there at 15

Go all out on the offense is my standpoint. Get play makers at WR, TE and draft depth on the oline.

however I don’t see Ballard doing this. He will do what he always does.

Good response and if Ballard does what he always does he should be gone next season--Im kinda of thinking it is Not so much Gus but he didn't have the players. I do think those young cb's willll be better next year

  7. haven't been on in a while so looking forward to give some thoughts after the disapointing loss.

Gus the DC it looks like will remain therefore one of two things: we need to draft for the D and it should be at #15 the best DE on the board--resign GS and KMII as well as Blackmon--and 2nd round should go LB and 3rd FS--the rest of  the draft should be best players for either side of the ball--if we resign Pittman now with this in mind we can fix the D enough while thinking that with AR back it will even things out

the other thought would be to go top 3 draft picks O and just hope we can outscore everybody-- #15 best WR and they should be some good one--2ndrd maybe a stud OG if one there 3rd maybe another OL maybe OT--we want to give AR the best chance to pass or with JT and him to run--

AR will improve the O as is with Pitt back--so the question is and i think we should do one or the other---should we fix the D or outscore everyone on O

Come on now. We just signed a guard to a 20 million contract. If nothing more we can take this from today's game. A 20 million guard has little influence on  the outcome of a game. Ballard said he believed u pay a guard that much because he is a transcdent talent. Nelson could be pancaking left and right and I doubt it would have little impact on the game. This team  broken.

he needs to be bancaking at LT and move Pryor over to RT and put Smith at RG and the best of who ever is left over at LG i'm hoping the other Kelly get in the Oline somewhere

Oh by the way how did

Sorry to offend you Mr chad72 - but realistically - Josh Allen would have bean the man here at the Colts. It is interesting that most people in this thread said Mayfield, Rosen and Darnold would all be great, however Allen just threw 9 TDs in 2 playoff games. That not too bad right? I have only ever advocated so much for Allen because he is good - you can't deny it.

Diggs, Sanders Knox Davis etc - they are all made better by Josh Allen - Diggs has had career years when working with Allen (I hope this makes sense?)

I guess what I am saying is - people have opinions and sometimes they are right - but to trash their opinion and come back in 3 years and say "whatever dude broken clock right twice a day ya know?" is not a great way to assert your football knowledge on to this great forum we call home.

you were right so props for that and my prediction that we would have won the SB this year would have happened if JA was our QB

  10. Interesting...  I'd like to think that either or can be done based on the characteristics of the player.  A slower, bigger safety could make a great LB in the right scheme.  I smaller, quick LB can make a good SS in the right scheme.

And if you think about it, often times colleges have to convert a player from one position to another if they didn't fill a need during the scouting/signing process, so some times you have that type of thing happen out of necessity at the college level.  All in all, I can't really see a good argument for being for it in one direction, but not the other.

why would the lb have to be a smaller think of a bigger quick lb to SS . now that's what we need. see the topic on changing our D with the players we have. a genus came up with that idea

  11. I'd rather have them in the middle of the season. It's better to open up against weaker competition and work yourself into a groove. Home vs. Jags would have been awesome.

It's best like it is, this way manning will not be as tight with his new receiver and the new look D will not have time to really gel together

  12. You are correct. The defense has switched depending on the match ups.

the nfl is a copy cat league. therefore you have to come up with the next genus plan. and I think I have found it.

maybe even have 2 big s's back there really hurting people when and if they catch the ball with smaller quicker olb's (ex-safties) that can cover and get after the qb.

ya'll watch some nfl team copy this idea!!

  13. Remember that we are not playing a 3/4 but a 4/3 with ends that are 3/4 size like A. Jones and Redding and RJF the 2 DT's are NT size and will take up blockers in the middle so he would mostly have to deal with rb's and te's blocking him

Sorry, I made a mistake in my post and forgot to mention that we would no longer be a 3/4 D as you can see I have 2 de's and 2 dt's

  14. I'm not sure exactly how quick werner is (didn't get to see him play much last year) but I remember sheldon richardson chasing down a runningback for 69 yards and stopping him from scoring a td at missouri. If werner is that quick, it'd be fun to watch him at safety at least. Landry cannot be an OLB though as he would get knocked around like a rag doll.

  15. ok here is my thought

    going with a 3/4 D

the ends would be: A. Jones, Francois/Redding

the dt's would be: Chapman, M. Hughes

OLB and here is one of the big changes: use a S for one spot. Landry would be good both as a cover lb and could stop the run and get to the qb. the other olb would be mathis

MLB would be Freeman and the new player we got from the browns

cb's would be Davis and Toler

S: another big change SS Werner and the fs howell or someone from the draft

my thought is with that front 4 they will stop the run and take up blockers in the middle. while the olb or olb's will get plenty and quick pressure on the qb. therefore the coverage of the S's would not need to be real great. and a ss the size of werner will make it hard for wr's and te's to make catches in the middle of the field.

  16. How flexible is coach Pagano?  When Wenrer was drafted, one scout said he was the next Ryan Kerrigan.  Our front7 is bad anyway, we wouldn't need a huge overhaul.  With Werner and Mathis we would be set at DE.  All we would have to do is add an impact DT, something Pollian refused to do.  I'm not saying go back to the Cover2 days, we could still be an attacking defense.  Someone who knows much more about football, please fill me in on how much hybrid 4-3 we play already.  Do we already use Werner that way for many snaps?

I have been listening to the build the trenches posters, and I think they are correct.  If there is a way for Werner to make an impact, I say do it.  Instead of shelling out big bucks to Davis, get a DL in free agency instead.  What about Lamar Houston?.  Then trade down and draft a DL in the third and pick up a DB with your extra pick.

    Mathis  Houston  Urban  Werner

Then sign Mack and Travelle Wharten.  Without all that money to DBs you could build the Trenches.

    Castonzo  Thomas  Mack Wharten Cherilus

I would like  to go back to the 4/3 with the players we have. I would not change Mathis keep him at OLB Huges and Chapman would make excellent DT's. Weiner would make a good DE and keep Fannics at DE. but do NOT go back to the cover 2 with the 10 yard cousion

  17. Bey had these bad hands since college.  Raiders drafted him for his speed not his hands.  Raiders thought that they could teach him how to catch.  People blamed the Raider QBs, but IMO, it was Bey.

I think he would be good to keep for ST and cb would not be his best fit I think S would be best for him. he would have the ball in front of him and could see it better. with his speed and size could make for a good S backup possible starter
