Amount of QBs drafted in round 1 since 2012:

    12' -4

13'- 1 (WORST QB class ever btw)

    14'- 3

    15'- 2

    16'- 3

    17'- 3

    18'- 5

    19'- 3

The average would seem to indicate 3 QBs. I get that QBs are king, but I feel like every year we overreact about a bunch of QBs going early. It's not out of the question, but I'm not counting on it.

To be fair, 2013 was one of the worst draft classes ever in general for all positions.

I like Ballard, but I think he focuses too much on collecting second round picks. These picks are, way too hit or miss. Yes, Ballard had success with Darius Leonard, but has also drafted busts in Quincy Wilson and Tyquon Lewis. The best prospects are usually found in the first round, not the second round, and it was a bad decision to trade out of the first round in 2019.

I can see why he did that though in the past because there were so many holes to fill and the more picks you have the better the chances of hitting and building that core quicker.

Now it appears the core is about set so I don't think we'll see as much acquiring picks unless the value in the 1st is just not there.

  3. it's the instant gratification times we live in.

The players have to contribute immediately or they're a bust mentality.

Nelson and Leonard being All Pros their first year set really unrealistic expectations for the future drafts.

Yep. I've mentioned it before, but Ballard will trade up for a QB. He has the draft capital to do it.

as long as it's for a player they really believe in. If not, they go another direction.

That scheme you don’t like?   Is also Ballard’s scheme!

Three posts.   Or is it four?   And they’re all terrible.   Standard Pacergeek!

he's the same on the pacersdigest forum too.

Very honest about Jacoby and Malik. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief if they thought Ballard was just locked into Jacoby.

His statement on not forcing a QB pick was interesting. To me that doesn’t sound like a guy taking a QB at 13, and certainly doesn’t sound like he’s trading up for one either. If I got anything out of that presser in terms of him tipping his hat on draft day (grasping at straws here for the sake of conversation), it’s that if Derrick Brown or Javon Kinlaw are there at 13, they’re running the card in.

Great presser overall. Very honest talk from Ballard.

This is what I gathered too...especially re: the interior D line.

This years first round will be interesting for sure.

To me, Chris Jones is the kind of guy that doesn't hit the market, and I expect the Chiefs to do what they need to do to make room for him. But if they let him walk, absolutely, open the vault for him. That's a difference maker, but we're also probably talking about the Aaron Donald contract to get him.

Yep....but sometimes you have to do that...as long as it's the right person. Then draft a Derrick Brown/Javon Kinlaw( if possible).

Makes me think Hunt is gone. Stewart is playing himself into an extension, not massive but he's been really solid.

I haven't listened yet, so not a reflection of Ballard's comments... but I don't see him spending big money on someone like Armstead. I happen to think very little of Armstead as a player, and I don't see him as a game changer that Ballard would be bringing in to make the team better.

he's going to do what he's always done since he's been here. It's funny because he's very up front about all that. He's not against going after high priced players but they have to be the right players. And he won't over spend for them.

Plus he's got some players on this roster who are going to be making a whole lot more in the next couple years.
