I think i changed my stance a tad and switched to Andy Dalton instead. How would you feel about him instead?

I'd like Dalton more than Carr. At least Dalton has the excuse of a horrible offensive line and losing his favorite target as a reason why he was so bad this year. We'd still have to pay him a high salary and I don't think he's going to take the team any further than Jacoby did this year.

I honestly think keeping Jacoby, spending our cap space on other positions, and drafting a quarterback high is the best option.

  4. Not a fan of trading for Derek Carr at all. I know this goes against popular sentiment, but I think most people on this forum are being too hard on Jacoby. Especially if you believe Derek Carr is an alternative that would help us win.

Jacoby is not our QB of the future, but the only problem I had with him was his inaccuracy the second half of the season, but nobody is going to tell me that his MCL injury didn't have an impact on that. A QB's accuracy doesn't just change that drastically without cause.

Also many on here are all over Jacoby about his tendency to stare down receivers and not being able to move through progressions and find open receivers. This is a problem with half the quarterbacks in the league, and nobody is worse at this than Derek Carr. It is why most Raiders fans want him to be cut or traded.

I'm still doing draft evaluations and trying to figure out which QB is best for us. I don't think Jacoby is our franchise guy, but I think he is a better option than anybody we can get in free agency this year as long as his accuracy issues were a product of his injury.

  5. We've had a lot of bad luck this week. Credit to the coaching staff on being able to handle all the obstacles coming their way.

Hilton goes down in practice, Kelly and Brissett get hurt during the game, and our punter limped off the field.

Somehow we still have the lead.

  6. To be fair, the coaching staff didn't put him in a great position leaving him in so many 1-on-1 scenarios when he had been getting beat all day.

Rock has potential and he is in the right spot most of the time, but he needs to be able to turn and find the ball if he's going to use his hands as much as he does.

Usually if you turn and make a play on the ball, the ref will forgive incidental contact.

Hmmmm....last I heard Leonard lost weight this year.  He was around 215 and all it amounted to was him  getting blown up in the run game and still not being able to cover .  I just think he is really over rated based on his late season play last year and so far this year

Would love to hear which games late last season you thought he played badly for clarification.

I think it's unfair to judge someone the caliber of Darius Leonard on a 2 game sample especially when one game was the first real game he had played in 8 months, and in the other he suffered a concussion in the first quarter.

  8. Some of Vinnys kicks look like they are going right down the middle and the wind just carries it like crazy.

I defended him like crazy last week, but we can't afford to lose easy points every week. I would give Vinny one more week at Lucas Oil to get it together.

They should definitely be starting the evaluation process during the week though and start working out other kickers.

They gave him 9 guaranteed, so the other 3 was incentivized?

No the other 3 million is not guaranteed. From what I've seen, Hoyer will get 5 million this year, and 4 million next year fully guaranteed whether we keep him or not.

The third year Hoyer will make 3 million if we keep him, but gets nothing if we cut him.

  10. Two things stood out in the Ballard-Reich presser to me.

    1. Ballard basically said that Lewis is similar to Milton on special teams, but has more upside as a corner.

    2. Ballard made it seem like we are going to keep 8 O linemen on the roster so we can keep the players we have at other positions.
