    #3 - 2200

    ---------------

    #6 = 1600

    #37 = 530

    #49 = 410

this is 2540 value in this year's draft + we get their next year's second round pick.

We are 340 points ahead in this year's draft + more value(between 580 and 270) to come next year. The median pick in the second round is 420(about what is fair to expect). So overall value is around 2960 which is overpayment by 760 points.

    Ballard robbed em..

I actually like L. Jackson.  He has potential, but I feel for him he will be a product of his environment more so than Baker.  He desperately needs a team who will not only be patient but also has a great offensive minded staff.

I've been saying that man..Jackson might be best QB in draft, next Vick except he has great character and is very intelligent..He needs to add about 15 lbs which isn't hard..

I think we will trade back again! That #6 spot is going to be very valuable one the draft hits

    #1 Browns go Darnold

    #2 giants go Barkley

#3 jets go mayfield (they love him I have no idea why)

    #4 browns go Fitzpatrick

    #5 Broncos go Rosen

that means when our pick is ready Josh Allen will still be available and with how desperate the bills are at qb they are going to pay what ever we want in order to move up and take him. we could be swimming in picks this season!

    Yessir!!!

no chance.  we'll be lucky to get Nelson.  But there will be a good guy at 6, just maybe not Nelson unfortunately (who we needed real bad).  Knew a move was coming, this is not surprising, however, the longer you hold out, the more picks we could have gotten closer to the draft.

Nelson will be #1 on our board, but Fitzpatrick or Edmonds will be nice consolation prizes..I hope we somehow luck into Taven Bryan in 2nd..Why I am hoping for Buffalo trade, get Bryan and Hernandez in 1st..

jshipp. I understand that, but lets not talk about FA in this thread. Ballard pulled off something really good here. Lets be happy about it and discuss FA in the other thread. Don't want you to get torn up here, we should be happy right now. We'll worry about FA as the days go by.

I just want Suh! That would give us one of top defensive lines in football..Give him a 3 yr 54 million dollar deal..

I'm thinking the same but more like whover has the 9th or 10th pick

Man if we trade back with Buffalo we can have 2 first rounders, and 5, I repeat 5 2nd round picks! Imagine that? I have never looked forward to a draft as much as this...It'll be Christmas! We still have tons of money too! Bring in Suh and Mathieu and I will start a Chris Ballard fan club...I admit I was short sighted..Ballard is looking like a mad scientist now...

When it looks like everyone is overpaid that means no one is overpaid and they're getting fair market value.

Good players are expensive outside of rookie contracts. That's the NFL.

Embarrassing that the Colts refuse to open the checkbook.

Exactly!!! They are being paid market value! That's what these Ballard apologists don't seem to understand...We are now the cheapest team in the NFL and if you don't think players and agents don't notice you are fooling yourself...We are looking real bad, and it's embarrassing..

Grigson spend a lot of money on average and aging free agents. Ballard obviously isn't spending much in free agency. So far Colts only got bigger holes in their roster and I doubt you can fill them only with draft picks. In my opinion the smartest strategy is a mix of both. Making smart deals in free agency and if you can get a quality player at a position of huge need you can afford to overpay once a year. And the rest get from the draft!

So how are we getting better with this strategy???

This is a huge overpay for a one year starter at center.  Now the highest paid center in the league. I can't blame Ballard for this.  I wasn't expecting that kind of contract.  He can still get Pugh and maybe The Patriots young RT as well. We know he's trying for Pugh so hopefully he can get him signed.   I wanted to trade for James when the Dolphins were shopping him at his 9.5m salary but they came to their senses.  Maybe they will still trade him. You can always inquire.   All I know he has to shore up this OL. or Luck is going to have a hard time not getting injured again with what we currently have.  If we stay at 3 Nelson is an absolute lock as our pick if Ballard can't improve our line.  Even if we trade back it looks OL is going to become a higher priority than I would have thought of originally.  I'm still  hoping Ballard can still improve our OL line.  We will know real soon now.   What!  They merged this thread too.  Must be the mods are on the payroll.

Bottom line is they aren't overpaid man..That is new going rate..Salary cap goes up, salaries increase, so really you have same restrictions. Nature of the beast..
