If we don't get Lawrence and go defense I'd rather have Tillery than Ferrell, he disappears too much..Simmons won't be there and still rather have Lawrence, Lawrence is Top 10 talent..

I want Metcalf then Lawrence..Looks good to me.

Jacobs is very much like Edge post injury which was majority of his career..He will get you 4+ yards a carry, always falls forward, great blocker, vision, protects the ball, will get you between 50 and 70 receptions and 1,000 to 1,400 rushing yards per year and some pro bowl appearances..

Before or after James ACL tear? If its before he should go in the top 10.
I haven't looked at RBs at all.
After...Before James was a freak...I still remember when he was a rookie and destroyed the Saints in preseason and was in awe of it, and forgot all about Marshall Faulk..

Not to be super critical, but Edge could block, catch, great between the tackles and outside (stretch). Josh is a home run hitter, however if you'd ask someone who's not a Colts fan who does JJ remind them of, I dont think they would name Edge with all due respect. Lastly Edge ran a 4.38 forty (faster than Saquan Barkley's 4.40, and Josh's 4.5s range). Most importantly Edge had superior Vision that enabled him to cut on a dime (my gosh).
Josh is a super talented player but Edge is scary good. If that makes sense.
I'm talking Edge as a Colt post knee injury, which was most his career..He wasn't 4.38 after that.If he never had the injury it's a different conversation... Look at James clips as Colt after the injury..Same running style both all around backs that lack top end speed, patient runners, good vision.. Before injury edge had home run speed but that was short lived here unfortunately..Preinjury edge would already be in Hall of Fame if that didn't happen..

My only knock on Jacobs is that he doesn't have that extra gear. But I'm ok with that. He can still rip off 20 and 30 yard runs but isn't likely to break off an 80 yard run.
I agree with that..Edge, Bell, or Bradshaw aren't home run hitters either.. We got that in Mack and Hines already.. I expect Hines to be used more as well..

PENNY is a 1 trick pony though Krunk..Jacobs has no real weakness, and is also a great receiver out of the backfield.

Let's take a look at a guy like Rashad Penny. Penny rushed for Marshall Falk type numbers at San Diego St and that only got him the 27th pick in the first round last year. I believe he even had a 2,000 yard year one season. Jacobs doesn't even show Rashad Penny type ability and of course the numbers don't even get anywhere close to Penny. All that production and not many of us were talking about Penny going in the first round last year. Penny had more freak traits than Jacobs as well. Now we are supposed to believe that a guy who has been a career backup and never rushed for more than 600 plus yards is supposed to be going in Rd#1? People can tell me all about him being behind such and such and so and so and not being able to get his shot, but I just feel like if you really are that dude you should end up forcing them to increase your playing time.
The fact he doesn't have all the mileage and wear and tear is another reason he is coveted...Not necessarily a bad thing..He just isn't flashy, but he has elite vision and natural feel for the game..

I see what you're saying about the RB and QB, but I think the WR position is pretty strong. I think there's a lot to choose from at that spot.
I think this is the year to get our #2, or possibly #1 WR to eventually replace T.Y..Metcalf or Hollywood Brown in first..A.J. Brown, Harry, or Deebo Samuel in 2nd..All have great potential in my opinion..Best WR class in recent memory..
-
He isn't flashy, but neither was Edgerrin..I think he will be very good pro and has a high floor because he can do everything...I harken back to old school to mention another player he compares to favorably and that's Thurman Thomas..We have the flash in Mack we just need the reliable do everything workhorse to go along with him..

He reminds me of Joseph Addai. A good back that can do a lot, but not a superstar.
I think he is a lot better than Addai, more power, and better blocker.

He is a complete back and pass catcher as well...Him and Mack would be a dangerous combo..Still players I would take before him, but if they are gone Jacobs will be great consolation prize. Maybe we get really lucky and he falls to top of 2nd.

He reminds me more of Ahmad Bradshaw.
I can see that too

I've really tried to avoid looking at running backs this year cause we never take one early even though I've been hoping for years we would...So today I decide to watch Josh Jacobs and lo and behold if he doesn't have IDENTICAL running style to James..Maybe it's meant to be?

Guess I'll root for the Bucks to win now..Be nice to see a small market team that is willing to spend money to win finally get a title...

And an unproven rookie is guaranteed to make us better?
Or our WRs as compared to our DBs or LBs?
We are in much better shape at DB and LB than WR for sure..TY gets hurt we have no proven commodity behind him so we need to be looking to upgrade and hopefully they hit ..

How is a unproven draft pick a safety net?
Well it will be a high pick for 1, and another option if Cain doesn't produce, or Funchess for that matter...The more talented players with upside the better chance one hits thus safety net..We can't risk putting all our eggs in 1 basket , we have to have another couple playmakers for us to truly contend and be able to hang with the Big Dogs..Would you prefer we don't try to upgrade the offense?
-
A.J Brown could be another JuJu Smith-Schuster..We have some really good options to really improve our WR corps in this draft..Cain is the wildcard and will be icing on the cake if he lives up to the hype as well..Just can't count on that yet, and need a safety net.

Our offense is not bad. But most of the reason it's not bad are Luck and TY Hilton. It's about top 10 in the league. This is a good offense. Noone is saying our offense is trash. IT'S NOT! But when you have Luck you are pretty much guaranteed to have above average offense regardless of the players he's throwing to. He's that good.
This however is not the question here. Mere above average is NOT ENOUGH. When you are playing the best of the best in the playoffs and when you are contending for Superbowls, you should aim at being better than just top 10. When you have Luck you should be aiming at elite. You should be aiming at juggernaut type of offense. We all saw what happened when opponents were able to take away TY. We struggled mightily. We need other playmakers. Our receiving core did no favors for this offense and for Andrew Luck. We were bottom 3 in the league in BOTH drops(3d most drops) and in YAC(second to last).
This offense does need another playmaker at receiver so when opponents blanket TY with double teams we would have another guy who would be able to feast on a one-on-one matchup he gets.
I think Metcalf or Hollywood Brown could both make major impacts in that area year 1 now that we finally have a good coach who can find a way to get them the ball in space..

If that means using the early draft picks in that area it wouldn't surprise me.
We can all have our preference on what position he picks but I don't think any of us can be too sure about any direction he will go. Other that the first pick last year he showed us all we didn't have a clue.
If Ballard goes defense there is a pretty good chance we land an impact player.. Hopefully Dexter Lawrence, Greedy Williams, or Christain Wilkins in that order..I would not be sad about that either..

Brown isnt necessarily who i want at the pick but i get it with him if youre talking a BPA pick for a guy whose ready right now.. When Ballard talked about over emphasizing i looked at it in response to people insinuating we need to overhaul the whole group outside TY. We dont need to overhaul the whole group. We have some good young options in there to reduce the need for overhauling the whole group. Funchess is only here for 1 year and its a whole wash if he were to get injured. My only negative with Brown i feel he could be more explosive. But a 4.49 aint half bad, thats Reggie Wayne like.
Yeah I wouldn't be upset about it, I think him and Harry will both be very solid players possibly more and safe picks for sure..It took Wayne 3 years to really start blossoming and I can see Brown being a similar player and maybe more NFL ready out of the gate..

I do think if anyone’s is interested in JB it is the Giants. The league is all about connections and JB has a Bill Parcells connection who has a Giants connection who needs a QB. Now he may be brought in for competition w a draft pick.
Read my mind, nice job connecting the dots..Brissett also fits the type of style the Giants have always played, he is a perfect fit for them. Don't rule out Arians not having faith in Winston and bringing him to Tampa either..
-
We are gonna lose Brissett next yr anyways..Got to start thinking about his replacement..I think McSorley is a Ballard kinda guy..Great work ethic, character, elite athlete, and proven winner..And yes, hopefully all he has to do is hold a clipboard, but with good coaching I think he can develop into a guy who can win some games if Luck goes down and possibly more than that..Much like Patriots always have a QB waiting in the wings that they can trade for assets down the road we need to also follow this model..

Personally it wouldnt shock me and not too many would be mad if the first pick turned out to be AJ Brown. I could see a scenario where that happened. I like Paris Campbell better in terms of upside and versatility, but AJ Brown is pretty smooth and hes ready. He could handle that type of pick. Wouldnt shock me at all if the Colts saw him as a 1st rounder. Brown would be a pretty safe and Colt like pick at 26 to be honest. Pretty clean high character kid. Very good ball player.
If we take a Brown I hope it's Hollywood..
If Greedy Williams falls to us which is highly unlikely, but possible it would be hard not to take him..

That would be ok with me too...We would be hard to handle on D-Line, and deep..
