It was our 3rds against their 2nd and 3rds, for the most part. Our CBs looked bad, but most of the ones that looked bad were deep bench guys.
later in the game it was 3rds vs 3rds. Don't exaggerate it that much. that rookie qb that isn't manuel is technically their third anyways since Kolb is injured. yeah i of course meanr our deep bench guys. Our starters-maybe even dime back looked fine to me.

Right...I still the the D held up pretty well considering it was a lot more of the #2's than #1's. they'd have looked much better with Redding, Mathis and Werner.
If you don't agree that our d looked suspect vs their 2nd and 3rds than i don't know waht you were watching man. Our CBs were sad.
-
I don't think we really got caught with our pants down. I was just explaining why the NT's weren't on the field much. In a real game we would have seen a lot more of Redding and Mathis. I don't think either of them played after the 2nd defensive series.
I know you don't think that, i wa just using your part about how they ran that quick hike offense. That's when our d looked suspect, even more so with the backups obviously.

I think a good part of it was the way Buffalo was playing. They were playing a pretty up tempo offense quite a bit and were throwing the ball quite a bit, so the Colts were playing more Nickel with a 4 man front that looked primarily to be variations of: Walden/Sidbury - Guy/Matthews - RJF/Nevis - Rayford/Hickman. When Buffalo slowed down a little bit, that's when Franklin and Chapman were getting on the field.
The sad part about this is that the elite teams that we hope to play in the PO's will be running this offense, and we can't be caught with our pants down(for lack of a better phrase).

You don't even have to leave this forum to find vocal Walden detractors who qualify for similar status. I wouldn't mind seeing a few of them step up and justify all their vitriol... or eat their crow.
I can't claim to have been overly focused on him, but Walden looked very solid to me today.
Before any crow is eaten lets see him in a real game. I am not a naysayer of him, buts its waaay too early to make anyone eat crow here for doubting him
-
I really was hoping j Kelley would be solid today, really want the guy to succeed.
On a strange positive note did anyone notice that harbish was better against the bills 2nd string d than their 3rd string?
-
DHB played.
Good/bad. I wanted tl know because I missed the first quarter. Good because he isn't injured, bad because he obviously didn't have an impact in the game.
-
the first preseason game is like a glorified practice
FB/TEs were used much more with Luck and Hasselbeck because we already know they can sling the rock. You saw more multiple WR and spread formations with Harnisch because they want to see what he can do throwing the ball. There is no real gameplan whatsoever. About the only thing to really look at is whether or not an individual player is executing his assignment and beating the man in front of him, and if he isn't, is it a talent problem, or an opportunity to coach?
good to have football back...brings out the 'Chicken Little's' and entertains the rest of us.
In that same train of thought. Our d is not reacting to what is in front of them. My favourite part of today is seeing that pat mckafee Is better than every.
Also is dhb injured?
-
The kind of plays that make you eat your words but than you reserve how he plays without the help of a strip sack.
-
I never want to see Dayton Swanson on the field. He makes cassius look like revis out there.
-
Were so boned if we get any injury in the secondary. Even without it our dimeback is looking awful. Even against 3rd stringers.
Also our d line/backers aren't getting much push or penetration.
-
Offensive line blowing chunks today

He must not know who my boy TY Hilton is!

Did Andrew luck really outrun rg3 as it states In the story?
-
Luck finishes 23-29 with 3 TDs. Had 14 straight completions at one point. #ColtsCamp
6 incompletions. What a scrub.
Don't any of you take this the wrong way and call me a debby downer or the opposite of a homer fan, but am i the only one slightly concerned with the fact that Luck has an amazing day in full pads when toler is out? Our defense seemed like it sucked the big one today. I know this is just practice... this is just my observation right now.
-
Who's ready for Darius Butler to step up!!!
-
wonder why he says he believes RGIII is the favorite from a fan perspective?
I guess that depends on what fans you are talking to
Anyway, nice to hear someone commend Luck on how he did more with less
he certainly did!
My money would be on the fact that his jersey is liek the most popular jersey in the World. :rulez:
-
He kept the team from falling apart, yes I give him that. Can't take that from him. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, ANDREW LUCK and Co. made the 11-5 records
Bruce Arians wasn't throwing passes while Clay Matthews was hanging on his arm.
Bruce Arians didn't run a punt in for a touchdown after shake & baking then running full Sprint to the end zone
Bruce Arians didn't scramble out the pocket then flick a pass to the closet receiver who then ran into the endzone and shocked the motor city at Ford Field
All I'm saying is, Bruce Arians did have a role in our success, but not as big as the "NFL Network experts" are making it seem & sound like
Why give any coach credit for anything in the NFL than?
-
Tknight it's probably because he does deserve alot of the credit for the team last year. That is the good and the bad. When you step in as head coach it becomes your team, as he was responsible for gameplanning. AlthoughI don't know of anyone who thinks luck is going to fail this season, because that is absurd.
-
Why is it people really feel that Bruce Arians was like a God here in Indianapolis?
I'm sick of people giving him all the credit or saying luck will fail cause he left for Arizona
-
But was it DHB who shot you?
No it was Aaron henandez
-
Depends. Personally i see it as costing him his opportunity... But than you have the argument that now he'll have to re-earn his roster spot by putting in more work and dedication which could end up making him a better player.

From the bleacher report: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1684427-grading-every-indianapolis-colts-major-offseason-move-to-date
Nice article that covers a lot of our new players. I don't agree with all the grades and evaluations, but it makes you see just how well the Colts have improved in key areas. Eric Walden does look like a beast and should get a much better grade considering why we brought in his run stopping talents.
What parts do you agree with or don't and why?
I think his evaluation of Walden was spot on. In no way has he shown to be a beast at anything or even average at anything on the football field. In that lackluster defense of GB he would have been able to stand out more or be known for something, but instead he just was another plug in their defunct defense that contributed to the "badness" of that defense. I would actually give him a lower grade than the writer, but that is just me.

Quick question who had the worst offensive line last year and stats to back it up? You can delete this once I have an answer, this is where chat would help.

It's preaseason, i'm juding everyone on our roster. They don't get a pass because they wont be on this team soon.
Yeah we for sure won the more important part even if it was for only like a couple of series. But still you'd like to see some of these guys fight there way into a roster spot. The only "scrub" who i feel did that today was our fill in safety.
