  1. So, in a thread filled to overflowing with people griping about moves Grigs has made, or with people defending those doing the griping, how is it remotely "blind faith sheep" ish to take the opposing viewpoint? In fact, I would wonder if it is more a blind sheep move to join all the griping.

I suspect that a great deal of the impetus behind some people complaining about the release of guys like Nevis, Ijalana, and K. Williams stems from earlier efforts to assert that they would definitely survive the cuts. Instead of acknowledging that they were wrong, these "experts" now prefer to assert that the decisions were stupid.

So to a certain extent, I'm doing exactly what you called for me to do in your post, but precious few would ever admit the error in their thinking.

I see it as production vs non-production, i never claim to be an expert but the bottom line to me is that Nevis was our most active D lineman/best at rushing the passer, probably even showed the most upside on our dline in the preseason heck. With williams its the same he played well against 2nd/3rd stringers when he was given help by the o-line and not swarmed in the backfield. Also he was fine on special teams after the 1st game.

Edit: For Ijalana i could care less, he hasn't proved anything and was ok against 2nd and 3rd stringers as an o-lineman thats not saying much.

  2. So you take it for granted you know more about potential than Griggs and Pagano who have been in the NFL for a long time? When Pagano said he is a great young man with great potential I believe him. I think I trust their judgement over those who just think they know better. I am not an expert and don't claim to know better than those who make a living at running an NFL team. Griggs didn't get his position and GM of the year without knowing what he is doing. Is that a satisfactory explanation for you?

You can honestly sit here with a straight face and tell me you didn't question the Nevis release? I mean we have like 2 other no namers/no productioners still on the dline and we release our best pass rushing d lineman?

  3. Evidently, Pagano and Grigson see the potential, and since they see these guys day in day out, on the practice field, in the film room, etc.....I will put trust in the fact they know what they are talking about.  Call me crazy for leaving it up to those who's job is on the line to get these decisions right.

Call me crazy for letting Production speak for itself. The gm isn't always right, Zibikowski cough-cough. If you watched any of our preseason games you'll have seen that Williams played well as a 3rd/4th runningback against 2nd/3rd stringers. Where as Adongo didn't play so much as a snap.

  4. Because he has great potential. That is what PS is for. To teach and coach up players who teams think are able to contribute at a later time.

Explain how he has great potential? Williams at least showed he can play att some level of the game, and didn't look bad in preseason. Where as just because Adongo is "big and fast" doesn't mean he has any chance of translating to the game at a level worth keepin...

  5. do you think smiling people look irritated?  i just said he didnt look irritated while smiling.  i wonder how many times i have explained that to you now.

ya, i care when people dont give a guy a fair shot too.  thats a bit off topic since i think he is going to be great.  you really are lost through all this

Honestly i think you're right about this one dude. Clearly you're right .

  6. Here is PFF review of some players in the game

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/08/19/refo-nyg-ind-preseason-wk-2/

Doubling his snap count from the first week of preseason, Ricky Jean-Francois (+2.5) was the most impressive with his non-stop motor seeing him finish with two stops in the run game and two pressures rushing the quarterback. More surprising is how well Erik Walden (+1.5) has looked. His sack was the kind of play you’re not use to seeing from him, and he backed it up with some good work setting the edge. A better fit in Indy, he’ll give tight ends a lot of problems this year.

The main problem remains Mike McGlynn (-2.5) who had some problems in pass protection (as is his way). He was demolished by Mike Patterson with one minute to go in the first half on a play that would ultimately lead to an interception, while he also gave up two other pressures.

    Werner Working On It

We got our first look at rookie Bjoern Werner (-2.9) in extended action and he looks very much like a work in progress based on his first 39 preseason snaps.

The positives are there were flashes. He did show some good speed round the edge to beat David Diehl (though he followed it up by missing a tackle). But there were many more negatives. The only other pressure he picked up came in pursuit as opposed to beating anybody, and that was on 19 attempts to rush the passer.

Damn I didn't know werner finished as the worst player for us (+,-) . I didn't think he looked too bad. His run defense was suspect on those sweeps/pitches sure, but I thought he looked good on straight handoffs or stretch runs.
