Why would you want him? We have Green and Geathers. Just sign butler if you have no faith in those two. Don't bring in an aged, injury prone declining veteran. Let's stay away from that this time around please.

Harsh criticism for people who like Barwin. Here is what I know about Barwin. He is a good hybrid 3-4 linebacker. He is not a 4-3 defensive end. He also is a high energy, workout warrior guy. I think if he could be gotten on the cheap, he would be a good pickup. We will draft a few pass rushers too but we need some veterans like Simon or Connor to help set the tone.
And yes, I do watch a LOT of football and coach football. Actually, defense. Barwin has played out of position in Philly. Much like Dwight Freeney trying to play linebacker in a 3-4.
He's not good at all. The worst of their edge fishers or defenders by a huge margin
If you're comfortable buying another Trent Cole then that is your prerogative

P Robinson was a mess; a waste.
A big fat mistake.
-
Barwin is garbage. Just trash. People who advocate for him don't look at basic stats, watch games or look at advanced analysis. He's literally worse than Trent Cole.
-
The more I read the more I do not want.
I don't want to give a guy who got worse as the season went on a starters contract when he really is a backup (on the patriots no less), whom lacks focus.
-
hope he shows that he can star on his own. Big difference between that defensive line with Mercilus, Watt, that fat ex-patriots guy and ours.
-
Didn't he play DE when the Pats were in 3-4 or am I misrembering? If he's gonna be an OLB here then he better have some coverage skills because he is not a pass rusher

Very valid complaints by those who actually have a problem with this very minor transaction. After all, who needs a guy like Mingo at OLB when you already have studs like Alex Bazzie, Levar Edwards and Deiontrez Mount locked up.
Honestly I have 0 problem with the signing as it is a minuscule amount of dinero but I guarantee that one of those scrubs would produce more than 0 sacks in 32 games like Mingo has.
-
Got to either sign a good Nose Tackle or ILB at this point. That way I'd draft the other in the 1st and then a corner with my 2nd... But that's just me

Pierre Garcon's contract ended up being more than reasonable... Nice

Mingo came out of college an extremely athletic, but raw pass rusher. He doesn't offer much, but its a cheap deal to get some depth.
Yeah he was an athletic freak that was banked on to develop pass rusher skills or coverage in space type skills. Unfortunately for the Browns and Patriots he developed neither. Here's to hoping he does in Indy.

This is Hilarious!! Maybe he can cover backs?
He can't do that either. Just an all around bad player

I don't know anything about Mingo lol

A "situational rusher" with 0 sacks in the past two years with all 32 games played. Says all you need to know about the guy...

Mingo Blooooows. But it's a nonexistent cap hit basically so don't worry. But yeah, the guy is terrible. I wouldn't be okay with him being a replacement to Walden. However I'm sure Ballard has something else in mind.

Zach Brown, Connor Barwin and Dontari Poe might alleviate a few concerns here. We will see.
Connor Barwin? I would've hoped by now that we learned not to sign other teams trash. No need for Trent Cole 2.0

Those splashy players are still out there. We can get a Brandon Williams or a Poe and still come out with a player who is towards the top of their position. Its the lower end of the flashy guys, but they will cost less and have the same impact that one of the other guys would. Time will tell if we make a play for these type of guys.
I have a feeling Poe's contract is going to be monstrous but I honestly don't follow DTs around the league and their level of play compared to other positions.

There are still quality players available that fill holes we have
I just don't see the harm in splashing for ONE guy that is almost tops at his position. I think it would've been fine to spend the money on one of those fancy elite lineman or the Corner. Although I think Bouye is a waste of money but that's just my opinion.
I think Ballard is gonna nail this draft and get a few later round starters out of all our 4th round picks -

How many of the playoff teams from last year have made big splashes in FA thus far?
I would've liked to see us go the NE route. Sign one high level guy to a high priced, but necessary, deal and then duck out to see what else happens. They got an amazing CB... I feel like that's the way we need to play free agency. Not to say that everything won't be fine but I'm just giving my preference

Like I said "assuming he isn't a one year wonder" So cut out the 4 years before his career 2016 year and then requote me

Some will never learn!!!
Many such cases... Sad!

That's a more than reasonable contract for his talent assuming he isn't a one year wonder. He must like the Packers.

Don't need or want anymore injury prone players on my team
-
I'm not one to be butthurt about not signing these guys to ridiculous contracts but I will be very disappointed if we get some old vets to "shore up holes" and sign them to stupidly overpaying contracts (Even if the contracts are structured in a way that we can cut them early on). Don't want to see anymore of that crap. I'd rather just play the young guys

Goes to show you how much confidence/faith Ballard has in Dorsett and Moncrief. Christ...
What can be done with three 4th round picks??
in Colts Football

Draft three guys in the fourth round and hope they pan out.
