Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz getting invited to the same party.
Much ado about nothing ...
People get caught up in the emotion of the moment. Both coaches didn't behave at their best, but today, I'd think there will be a private phone call, and all will return to normal.

Harbaugh is certainly a different kind of coach. The winning kind.

There seems to be a lot of frustration in the fans regarding the coaching. I think we should rest all the fans until the playoffs.

We don't need a coach at all. How about just a cardboard cut-out? Apparently, this is a self-coaching team by design - except, of course, for challenges and time-outs.... Peyton was self-coaching. Why not everyone else?

Just a couple of thoughts. 1. Do you suppose Dallas Clark, and a whole handful of players are totally demoralized? 2. If the players aren't making plays, don't you suppose that they aren't coached in the proper techniques to make plays? Look, most of these guys have played quite successfully in the past. It is obvious there are problems with the coaching staff - and this could destroy the team (if it hasn't already) even IF Peyton returns.
Peyton is great, but even HE can't do it all! Especially if everyone elses give-a-darn is broken.

The failure of the Colts is systemic. Who architected the system? I'm not a Jim Caldwell fan, but he is only part of the problem. OK, a big part. The NFL will probably have to step in and do something because it is hurting the NFL brand.

Be careful what you wish for. UNM just fired coach Mike Locksley. He might be even worse than Jim Caldwell, which means he's probably a candidate for head coach.

Re: Jim Irsay has Nothing ...
It's really hard when people <insert any Polian or coaches name here> you've relied on for years, have REALLY let you down. It's called lassez-faire (yep, that's French) management by the front office (and it only wins at losing -- kinda like Ron Meek's bend-don't-break pitiful defense).
Irsay is stuck. He can't do anything about it in the short term (several years). It doesn't seem to be a fundamental lack of individual player talent (but more talent is always better). I'm sure it's demoralizing for the players as it is for us fans. It certainly seems to be both strategic and tactical incompetence in building a high performing team. That's squarely on the front office, and maybe that's where the change needs to happen.

The Polians will end up scape-goating Caldwell, Coyer, and Christenson at the end of the year. They will all be gone. Although, scapegoating might be a bit of an overstatement considering that they are all bad, and should have never been put into their positions to start with.
So do you think it's time for all the Polians to be shown the door, too? Might not be beyond reason.

Improve our coaching. Bring back Frank Kush.
Solutions In Progress But Complex In Nature

The problem seems to be that the coaching staff wants the players to "self-coach". An example is Freeney and Mathis - obviously very talented players - but they have become ineffective because they are just doing whatever they want to do, and doing that consistently (playing naturally only works on sand lots). This problem has been with the Colts for years. There hasn't been any real coaching for a long, long time. We need a coach, not a philosopher.
If Peyton Manning were to come back, I wouldn't expect much improvement (maybe we'd be 2 - 5 instead of 0 - 7). It will take years.
