Because he wanted the Pats backup job.
Because he didn’t want to play for a team that will lose all season.
Because he didn’t want to be a 3rd string QB when everyone is healthy.
Pick your favourite.

Brissett has taken a pounding since he’s been starting. Every time he hits the deck he takes a few seconds to get back up, and that time is slowly getting longer.
And we don’t want Tolzein to be our only option.
-
I highly doubt this happens.
If it did I wouldn’t be mad though.

Aiken can’t catch a cold. I often am genuinely surprised Moncreif was on the field during a game. Brissett waits too long and if he doesn’t he often couldn’t hit water if he was standing on a boat. When these are your fellow offensive players and you’re facing a lot of double teams, I’m not surprised he’s invisible.
Let him get Luck back. Give him a break.
-
Im not sure I can confidently call any of those games a win if Luck isn’t playing this year (looking less and less likely). For arguments sake, 1 win slips through. We’re 3-13. That’s the 3rd/4th overall pick, a new coaching staff a further roster churn and the 2nd/3rd most cap space in the league. Good offseason in my opinion.

Brissett is a young non starting caliber QB playing for a below average team. Give him a break. He’s better than Scott ‘The Human Pick 6’ Tolzein.

Totally agree. This team is kind of a new head coaches dream.

A solid corner for an entitled headcase receiver with a penchant for failing drug tests?
No.

Not sure about Indiana law but in many states, blowing the legal limit makes you presumptively guilty. Below that and you can still be found guilty if other factors are present, for example, if you are driving your car on the neighbor’s lawn when arrested.
Huh interesting. I'm from the UK so it's different here. Cant be prosecuted for drink driving if you blow below the limit I don't think. Probably just dangerous driving. If you drive on your neighbours lawn you get a sternly written letter and no birthday card from the Queen that year.
-
Arden Key or McGlinchey would suit me right now. Or if there is a potential for a trade down with a good QB still on the board then I’d be interested.

Blew below the legal limit. How is this a thing?

I actually really hope this happens. Best case scenario for the team

At this point I wouldn't rule it out. Although I would only do it if we ended up with a top 2 pick this year.
If we can get 2 1st rounders, 2 2nd rounders and maybe 2 3rd rounders (similar to what the Rams gave up to get Goff, adjusted for the fact that Luck is a proven player in the bigs) for Luck. We also lose his contract from our books, which frees up roughly 20-25mil per year from our cap which gives us more FA money to play with.
If we managed to get a rookie QB with our top 2 pick with a cheap contract. We'd have another high pick in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd this year along with our existing low picks. That is a good way to build a team. Especially since Ballard seems to know what he's doing when it comes to the draft.
I'm not advocating it, just an interesting thing to think through.

He’s not a cover guy but he’s a better run defender than what we’ve got currently. If he’s good with taking a pay cut I’d definitely bring him in.
-
Wouldn’t take much cash to resign him I don’t think.
Although that knee issue scares me out of any more than a 2/3 year deal right now.
-
Wouldn’t be surprised if the coaches don’t have the faith in his quick agility from press anymore. Especially against more compact, quicker receivers. He’s on the back 9 of his career and getting more and more injury prone in his lower body which won’t help the quick agility either. Being 5 yards off allows him to play to what are his strengths now.
-
Yeah I doubt he’s back this year.
Can’t rush neck stuff.
-
I’d want at the very least a 3rd for Vontae. He’s getting older and less healthy. And we have 3 solid options behind him. We’d be crazy not to cash in while we can.
I wouldnt trade AC. No sense in making our already holey line worse.

He's a CB on the back 9 of his career. Happens to the best of them. Darrelle Revis, Joe Haden, Nnamdi, Charles Woodson, everyone declines. To be a truly great man to man CB you need to have that quick twitch and the athleticism to stay with WR's. Vontae has always been exposed by smaller, more sudden route runners (Antonio Brown torches us on a regular basis, Doug Baldwin the same). Vontae for a couple of years there was a top 5, arguably top 3 CB in the league. He is not that now.
Also got to give it to Doug Baldwin that he is a great route runner.
If Quincy comes back healthy and continues to flash, Melvin keeps up the solid play and Hairston continues to impress, I can see Vontae being the odd (and expensive) man out come the offseason when his contract is up. But with the 3 previously mentioned, Hooker and Farley as our safety pair and the prospect of Geathers maybe returning? The future of this secondary is very bright indeed.

Trade please. If we somehow end up with a top 3 pick I'd trade back to about 1 and grab some more 1s and 2s. Best case scenario going forward

so when vontae comes back with quincy playing so well and hairston and melvin what happens....
A beautiful thing happens.
It's called being deep. Something we haven't been in a long long time.
Why didn't Colts sign QB Brian Hoyer

I realise both of those things. And I answered your question with a couple of different reasons.
Confused what answers you were expecting.
