  1. In Free Agency, “every team is getting better except us” is nonsense.  The net result of teams signing players from other teams - one team loses a Free Agent and one gains one.  Do that 100 times, and it’s the same 100 players, just dispersed to different teams.  Of course this is simplistic (Watson didn’t play last season for example), but let’s not overreact - there are plenty of comparable FA still unsigned and some of the unsigned now will prove better next season (there were other OT we passed over in favor of Eric Fisher that performed better last season) .  Every year it’s the same:  a team “wins free agency,” and at the end of the following season, that team disappoints.

  2. This game reminded me of San Diego game severL years ago - we did everything to lose, but in the end we had a chance, but...missed FG.  We’re fine if we get good news on Brissett, and TY is back before Houston rematch.  We really are.  If they are out extended time, it will all have been too much to overcome.  It’ll be okay...like the thread says breathe.”

  3. In 2017, Jacoby had the Colts in contention to win, late in most games.  His biggest knocks, as I recall, were completion percentage and holding onto the ball too long.  Given the vast OLine improvement, the quicker passing game installed by Reich, better talent across the board, and his added experience (remember he went from 3rd Stringer in NE to Colts starter in 10 days!), Jacoby is much better poised to succeed.  Jacoby is not Luck, but if Trent Dilfer can be a Super Bowl winning QB (not to mention a pretty spent Peyton in his last season), it’s clear to me that  Brissett has a chance to surprise.

  4. Brissett managed 4-12 with a greatly inferior team, and had Colts in position to win late in most games.  He’s also been practicing with first team all camp compared to all of eight days from being the Pats 3rd Stringer to Colts starter.  While I cannot think of one thing he does as good or better than Luck, he’s no Curtis PInter.

New poster here. So I became a Colts fan recently because of Mack (alma mater). I watched every game last year and even went to the Jags game in Jax (ugh).

I have been a lurker here and it seems like he is very underappreciated on this board. Is this mentality for the colts fan base overall?

Btw it seems like a lot of you guys are forgetting when Mack and Elliott went head to head...

Being a new fan, remember some of the caliber of RB the Colts have had:  Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James.  A trade for Trent Richardson was a disaster, but he was an early draft pick by Browns and projected to be a top flight RB.  Nothing against Mack as he’ll be the starter, but fans get excited at the mere mention of Zeke (and Laveon Bell) as we’ve seen top backs on the roster almost routinely.

Why?  Because hes holding out for more money before the Cowboys run him into the ground?  No one is ever team first.  They all are looking out for them selves, otherwise we woulnt lose anyone to FA ever and Luck wouldnt have signed the largest contract in NFL history when he did.

Lost in all of this is that he has two years left on his contract.  It’s hard to argue his “me first” mentality.

  7. How about “playing Buffalo, Miami, Jets year in and out is preferable to Titans, Texans, and Jags?”  The point is the same - playing  against a slightly  depleted Chargers versus one at full strength is to our favor, and we need every win we can get because the AFC South is going to be very stout this season.
