  1. Do you prescribe to the theory that missed 1st and second rounders set back your team?I ask because the press seems to think that will be our downfall.

It's commendable to find overachieving utility players at the bottom of the draft but, if you have the philosophy of building a team thru the draft and you refuse to spend money on superior(but over-paid) free-agents, then it is crucial that your top draft picks play like top draft picks.

If a " build thru the draft" team goes 3-5 years with many of their top picks becoming utility players (or worse, getting cut) and they still refuse to sign those coveted(hi-priced)free-agents, they end up with a team that is starting a bunch of back-ups.

  2. Brian Waters- G (Kansas City) Run Blocking Machine! Could kick Diem to RT until Ijalana is ready, Link is clearly not cutting it, and Diem is the best RT (hold your breath) that is currently on the Colts roster.

I wished the Colts had spent money on a quality veteran FA OG but, even the ones being cut by teams now would probably be an up-grade for the Colts.

Like you said, this would allow Diem to go back to RT...and allow Linkenbach to go back home

  3. I dont agree with the whole 'its not a rivalry until both teams win something' sentiment. Its a rivalry because of what the game means to both teams, and they play eachother enough to make it a (semi)annual event. The Colts and Patriots considered each other main rivals before the Colts finally won in 2006...and from our perspective you were the only team that we as fans were concerned about. If anything...I think theres less of a rivalry between New England and Indianapolis now, and its more a mutual respect thing. People say the rivalry was based around us knocking eachother out of the playoffs on the way to Superbowl glory. While thats true...we havent played eachother in the playoffs since 2006. That isnt 'just a few years ago' anymore...its pretty far back in the rearview mirror.

Colts fans may still hate the Patriots because of what happened 7 and 8 years ago...but the Jets are our main rival...not the Colts. And similarly, the Chargers should be more of your rival now than the Patriots. They are the ones who have knocked you out of the playoffs more recently. It doesnt matter whether or not they went on to win it all...they were still the ones who prevented you from doing it...and theyve done it the same number of times that we have....just more recently.

QUOTE by Tedy Bruschi regarding the Pats/Colts:

" you can't have a one-sided rivalry...we didn't really consider them a rival until they started winning some games..."

  4. Being that we own them and typically injuries are minimal during week 1, I prefer getting division rivals in our pocket early on. Being in their house week 1 means that they come here later in the year when standings are becoming increasingly tightened.

you would rather Manning's first game in 8 months NOT be a division game...but...whatever

  5. i agree with u the colts front office is kinda weak. should of been drafted a qb (aaron rodgers) heir tp peyton type of draft pick and switched the defence yaers ago peyton has never had a solid defence his whole career. since they never did any of those things start signing free agents peyton deserved better. put him on a .... team or get a gm who signs free agents and he has at least 5 rings right now

The "build thru the draft and don't sign hi-priced FA's" strategy can work but it demands that your early draft picks play like early draft picks and you can not have too many misses. If there are multiple years where your early draft picks play like late round utility players (or spend more time on IR than on the field)and you still refuse to add quality thru free-agency, you end up where the Colts are now.

    A team starting back-ups.

Some of the players taken in the first 3 rounds from 2006-2010: Addai, Tim Jennings, Freddie Keiaho, Daymein Hughes, Anthony Gonzalez, Tony Ugoh, Mike Pollak, Philip Wheeler, Donald Brown, Kevin Thomas, Jerry Hughes.

  6. wow, just terrible run D...let's hope Sims and Harris can make an impact when they come back, b/c these guys aren't getting it done. wow, just horrific.

on a side note, this D isn't designed for ground and pound games. when the O sucks like it has tonight, the Skins can run and run and run....When Manning and the starters are in, the thought is to get up on teams and force them to throw. But still....

In otherwords, the Colts have a one-dimensional defense that is getting exposed
